Cinnabar Resort

Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking a relaxing and laid back getaway. The food is delicious and freshly prepared, and the pool area is beautiful and very well maintained. One of the highlights is the beach, which feels almost private. We loved lounging on the bean bags while watching the sunset in the evenings. The staff are amazing, so friendly, attentive and always willing to go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. For instance, when we were figuring out how to get to our next destination, they not only provided detailed bus information but also arranged a tuk-tuk spacious enough for our large bags and made sure we got on the right bus. While the rooms don’t have air conditioning due to their open-air design, they are equipped with fans and mosquito nets, making the nights comfortable.

had an amazing time at the cinnabar resort, a friend recommended I stay here and it was asome, We are a young couple in our 20s and had great time. It was by far the best hotel I have stayed in, with a unique location and amazing views, truly 5 star. It does have the price to match, but it my opinion it was worth it. Mainly for the immaculate grounds and unbeatable service. Good looking beverage and food menu also tasty, sunset cocktails was brilliant, beast seafood so far in Sri Lanka, thanks to Charlie for helping us, and he's very cute, when he was smile so handsome, we found very nice Tour driver in cinnabar, Nisal excellent driver, highly recommend him for tour around the island, thanks to all staff for wonderful service, definitely we will be back..

Visited Cinnabar just for lunch today. Prompt service and the food was excellent. Good portion size and very tasty. Lovely location on a pretty beach. The experience was a bit spoilt by being shortchanged by 500 LKR. It was rectified once we pointed it out.

Someone had a dream and made it come true. If you have also dreamed of spending your vacation in a tree house by the beach, there is probably no better place. In addition, great food and friendly service, a fantastic swimming pool. Not many places deserve 5, but I have no doubts about this place. Just remember that you are in the jungle and communing with nature.

We wanted to try different experiences in Sri Lanka and when I stumbled on the Cinnabar Resort it ticked the box. Our tree house was magnificent, spacious and clean but no room service we had to empty bins make beds and ask for clean towels. I have to say though that not all tree houses were of the same standard, our sons, bizarrely had a stick floor, very uncomfortable under foot and if you drop anything then it was gone on to the roof beneath , you also had an assault course of branches to limbo through to get to the toilet! They are very conscious about cleanliness around the resort, the foot pools are emptied and scrubbed daily, picking leafs up etc. The restaurant was very good but beware of their suggestions for wine they don't show you the cheaper bottles, dismissing the yellow tail as "sweet", which it wasn't, we went with their suggestion and had a couple of bottles.... £34 per bottle!! not very happy!!The sea food was delicious! So in conclusion, a truly beautiful place to stay and a wonderful experience just beware of the few negatives I've mentioned.

Best place in Sri Lanka so far! Overwhelmed by the quirky, beautifully designed accommodation on a stunning corner of Sri Lanka. You can choose from a treehouse, a clay hut or little apartments set amongst nature, but right on the beach. We were able to view all of them and choose. Cinnabar is a quiet, mellow place to stay but with a great atmosphere. The restaurant food is sooooo tasty and they can't do enough for you. Everything is kept really clean and tidy and the brothers who run it are super friendly, but in a nice subtle way. Never trying to sell you anything, like in some places. They just want you to enjoy your time in Sri Lanka and get to know you as friends. The best places I've stayed in,in 7 weeks of being in Sri Lanka. Great italiano wood oven pizzeria, seafood platter asome tosome, best fusion cocktails in sri lanka which i had whole trip. Owner kamal very Help Full and also he's ex.chef is master i guess, food and beverage menu was very Creative, better than any Where else in thangalla... Thanks chef again wonderful menu and delicious selection.. We highly recommend this place to anyone and wish the Cinnabar team all the luck in the world as they truly deserve it! We will be back! X

We have LOVED our time staying at Cinnibar Resort and it’s been our favourite accommodation in Sri Lanka. The location cannot be beat. Directly on Tangalle’s gorgeous beach (and a much quieter area) with breakfast served everyday looking out onto the ocean. Sun loungers and bean bags on the beach and plenty of cafe seating just in the shade. They have a gorgeous swimming pool just set back from the ocean which is perfect for cooling off as the sea has a strong current and not recommended for swimming. The grounds are lovely and quiet, with the occasional monkey and 3 seemingly resident dogs. We stayed in a ground floor bungalow, but they also have treehouses and cabana style rooms which looked great. Room was comfortable with a mosquito net, fridge and safe. Bathroom was open plan with lots of room. We also had a small outside seating area which we didn’t use as we were always on the beach. It’s around a 20 minute walk into Tangalle town centre which has shops, pharmacies and bakeries. Lots of restaurants nearby too and a short walk along the beach to other bars and resorts which look nice. Breakfast was incredible, so well worth opting for a room with this included. There was a fruit course, hoppers, curry, rice, pancakes and fruit juices all on rotation and a choice of eggs. We only ate at the resort once as we like exploring, and food was nice, but not the best we’ve had in the area. Cocktails however were fab and we made use of their 2-4-1 happy hour between 6pm-7pm most nights. Service was great, really friendly and they remembered our names which was a nice touch as they seemed to be continually at capacity. Overall we LOVED our stay here and can’t wait to come back.

THEY DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS. It doesn't say this anywhere, but this is the case. Other than that, this is a really special place that makes you feel a million miles away from everything. Sadly, it was raining most of the days I was there - but it was still a great place to hang out. There is a nice pool and a decent restaurant (some things were better than others). If you like bespoke cocktails, they try to do their best. They clean the pool and the grounds continuously. I was there for three nights, but at the end of my stay, I barely got a goodbye, thank you, or "how was your stay". They clearly try to meet the standards of international hospitality, but there are still a few areas where they fall a little short. If you want a swimmable beach, this is not the place to be. You have to go elsewhere for that - and because it was so rainy I don't even know where I would go. Because it was rainy, the room (which is palapa-esque) was very damp the whole time and nothing dried. No a/c, but there is a fan. No screens on bathroom windows - so moquitoes do come in. The bed has a mosquito net - lots of tiny gnats on my white sheets when I first got there (dead ones), but that's nature.
