The actual bulding was impressive and some money has been spent on decoration etc. The room was fine, clean, spacious but thats where it ends. On their Introduction they state that noise in the corridors will not be tolerated. I had just arrived from Canada and so thought I would catch up on a rest in my room. Two small children were running, screaming and shouting up and down outside my room for approx 45 minutes. When Ieft the room we could not get the door to lock and as my husband is very ill he had left a considerable amount of medication spread out in the bathroom. We were concerned that the children who were still running in the corridor might go into th room and have access to the medication. I reported to the reception about our door and our concern about the medication and also complained about the noise. (the children were very young and it was not them I was complaining about but their parents should not be allowing this to happen.). Whilst the blonde lady in reception was very good another lady very abruptly told us that you had to lock it from the inside as it did not lock with th key from the outside. In the bar later that evening the children and their parent came into the bar and the abrupt lady then told them that "the lady next door has complained about the noise they were making and they had to stop it. The father then told them "or they will lock you in the dungeon" to which the lady behind the bar replied "yes thats what will happen"!!!!!! and looked across at me.. The food in the evening was good. The food in the morning was absolutely unedible. hard crispy eggs, potato scone you could not cut through, burnt bacon, hard as a rock black pudding and lorne sausage. When we arrived back at nine o'clock on the Saturday evening the whole place was locked up. No staff to be seen. Scottish Hospitality used to be world famous. This was the most unhospitable hotel I have ever stayed in. It boast a warm friendly atmosphere and welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not encourage this kind of business
