The hotel boasts elegant and pleasant views, designed by a renowned international firm. Opened in 1999 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, it symbolizes Sino-Singaporean friendship and international influence. The main building's stone facade is made of Jinshan stone from Mudu, a quarry that has since ceased operation. The garden landscaping is top-notch, with each of the 'Eight Views of Wu Palace' offering unique charm. A back exit provides direct access to the Panmen Scenic Area, allowing for day and night exploration. The hotel's restaurants are distinctive, with both the Chinese and Western establishments being superb. The Ruimian Noodle House, a Suzhou-style noodle restaurant, is particularly elegant and authentic!

Stayed at the Pan Pacific Suzhou again last night and was upgraded at the front desk. Truly a top-notch experience as always! The entire hotel is designed in the style of a traditional Wu-dynasty palace, complete with pavilions, covered walkways, and ponds, giving off an authentic old Suzhou vibe. Plus, having direct access to Panmen Scenic Area is a huge bonus. The room was spotless, the soundproofing was great, and I got a wonderful night's sleep. The service was poised and polite. However, I’d suggest adding a few more delivery robots, as the delivery process was a bit slow. Overall, it's a fantastic place for anyone looking to slow down and experience the charm of Jiangnan. Had a very comfortable stay, highly recommended!

I honestly didn't expect that Suzhou—a city I've visited countless times—would have its latest pleasant surprise delivered by this established, veteran hotel. Overall, the hotel is definitely showing its age, but it is exceptionally well-maintained. Aside from the rooms being on the smaller side, everything else gives me enough reason to stay here again. The service at the front desk and concierge was remarkably professional, easily outperforming many major, high-end hotels in the same category. What's more, the hotel has managed the rare feat of seamlessly integrating traditional Suzhou gardens into its property without feeling awkward or out of place at all. I booked a Garden View room in the Xixia Building. Not only could I see the Panmen Scenic Area directly from the room, but I even caught a glimpse of the Ruiguang Pagoda. The hotel's own private gardens are exquisitely designed and meticulously landscaped, though unfortunately, my schedule was too tight this time to wander around them. The room's hardware is indeed a bit past its prime; both the lighting controls and the air conditioning feel like they've outlived their service life. With Suzhou hovering around 26°C these days, I set the AC to 22°C in the room, but it still felt stuffy. The light switches required a firm push to turn on and off. If these things bother you, you might want to ask the front desk which rooms have been updated in these areas. Aside from the shower, the bathroom features a step-in bathtub—definitely a product of its era. Nowadays, you'd need a much higher budget to find a setup like this. Additionally, the hotel layout is a bit odd. Guest rooms in the two wings can only be accessed by passing through the 3rd-floor lobby, which can be somewhat inconvenient. The directional signage is also quite sparse. For example, trying to take a shortcut, I took the elevator from the other side down, only to find out there was no way to exit through the ground-floor lobby. The weekday rates are an absolute bargain. It's a bit of a walk to the metro station, but still within an acceptable range. However, if your main destination is the Guanqian Street area, you might want to factor in the distance, as the hotel is located in the bottom-left corner of the main city center.
