Greyhound Hotel

On Sunday the 24 th November 2024 at 12.30, we visited the Greyhound pub in Carshalton for a Sunday lunch reunion with my family who are visiting from france. It was the first time in 15 years we had seen them so it was a very special occasion. We wanted a traditional English pub with a good English roast dinner. The atmosphere couldn't have been better and the food was outstanding. However we were totally dumbfounded when as soon as we had finished our meal we were told we had 5 minutes to make way for the next guests. I had literally just finished eating and we hadn't even been offered a desert! We didnt want to make a scene but we did make our feelings known to the lady who, i presume was a manager. However she was defensive and claimed she understood we were having a special occasion, the next guests had specifically asked for that table and that we need to move to another table. We were so shocked. Then about 5 minutes later, another lady came and announced, in a rather sarcastic manner, that we can stay until 7 in the evening if we wanted as they had found another table for the other guests. Needless to say our experience had soured considerably and we just wanted to go. When i payed, the gentleman who served me was nice and recommended i left this review and to be honest. I don't like giving bad reviews, but i would like to feel i could go back another time. As everything was so perfect up until what i consider to be really bad management of their guests. I really hope that i get a satisfactory response as we all feel really annoyed and upset over the experience. Julian

Well located Hotel within the centre of Carlshalton, room was a good size with 2 single beds bolted together making a large king size bed. En-suite was a nice size, room was well decorated, towels were big and fluffy. Bed was quite firm but each to their own. Staff were fantastic and very friendly, breakfast was freshly cooked and good quality. Hotel is part of a pub, but located behind so you don’t get disturbed and has good sized car park too. Very good experience and would recommend.

Excellent stay. Everything you needed in the room. Very comfortable bed. Nice fluffy towels. Lovely smelling hand wash in bathroom. Really good breakfast. Would happily stay here again! Room was beautifully warm - had to turn heating down! Bedding felt very luxurious.

The food was lovely and our waitress Molly was very friendly. She kept checking in with us and it was very easy to order drinks when needed. The pie was fantastic and was made on site rather than bought in. The beef burger was juicy and chips were well cooked.

What a lovely place this is. The rooms are just wonderful, huge comfy beds, moody lighting, lots of extras. The food is amazing. Very decent portions of tasty food. Special shout out to Molly who served us in the restaurant, she was lovely and an absolute sport.

Lovely pub in a great location across the ponds at Carshalton. The food was really tasty and above average for pub food. The decor was really nice and in keeping with the lovely old building. The room was very comfortable, love the fact we could open a window, the tea tray was great, bathroom with shampoo/conditioner etc. Bedding comfy and good quality. Staff were friendly and helpful too. Very clean. Only one very small negative was the lighting in the room. There were many lights which gave good ambient light but there was not a bright light over the mirror or near it to do make up for us ladies!
