We travelled some distance from Solihull to take afternoon tea at the hotel on a Groupon voucher, booked for 3.30 p.m. The guy manning reception showed us to our table, seating us in the Drawing Room, to accommodate my husband's disability, and made us a pot of tea. We then waited 35 minutes to actually get our tea! When I sought a member of staff, serving at a bar two rooms away, she informed me that our tea would arrive but they were busy serving other guests! When we did get our tea, with a fresh brew, as requested, it seemed we had been waiting while the young man we saw initially had prepared our food as well so hope he washed his hands between working at reception and making sandwiches. The hotel gave the impression it is struggling, with poor shabby decor and carpets, and the toilets very much in need of an urgent upgrade. Wouldn't want to stay there and if the idea of issuing Groupon vouchers was to attract more custom, they certainly failed as far as we were concerned, although the sandwiches and scone were very good, obviously bought cake less so.

The place was nice for a business trip and perfect location, bar staff where very nice food and drinks come straight away would recommend to anyone. Food and drinks were reasonably priced. Rooms where nice and perfect for the price and I cannot complain

We have given this hotel 5 stars as everyone at the hotel makes your stay memorable for the right reasons. We have to GSD Dogs. Where chargered for them as you would expect. The rules are they must be on a lead and be well behaved. Which is no issue. This means you can take them with you, if you go into bar, lounge and restaurant ( we sat a little away from other guests as a mark of respect for them and the owners. Yes the place is a little tired but the atmosphere far out ways that. Thank you to everyone there and see you again soon. Mr&Mrs Rogers.

Avoid!! This hotel has gone seriously downhill - damp, mouldy, outdated and overpriced!! For your own good please ignore older reviews from a bygone era!! Windows have mold - we booked a twin room, but we’re only provided with one bath towel - no had towels.

When you arrive at a hotel in the middle of an electrical storm and the national grid has failed and there is no electricity, it is then when a hotel makes an impression not what the decor is like or the softness of a bed …. Throughout our stay the hotel and their staff did everything they could. Some hotels would have closed up and took the weekend off. Not here, they remained open and worked with the the electricity company and remained in contact throughout the experience. The rooms are spacious and clean. The decor is subjective and up to your own opinion however I like a country feel and for me there’s no problem …. Great stay given the circumstances and there were absolutely no pile ups

Used a Groupon voucher nice girls afternoon tea, the building and grounds are lovely, but unfortunately when we got there no one on reception, very quiet no one around, when we finally found the restaurant only 1 member of staff who seated us, took our order, sandwiches very underwhelming, shop bought cakes (asda) not for us. Not impressed, no other customers....

It was very close to where we had to go for an event that went very late, so that worked well. We were able to get a family room (3) and the area around the hotel was beautiful. Sadly, we REALLY didn't like having the fire alarm go off at 5:55am due to someone boiling their kettle under a sensor (which is what we were told) and then again at 8am on a Sunday. We had been to a party the night before and were exhausted. I appreciate that our safety is important to the hotel, but the hotel did not offer any good will gesture on their part for this inconvenience.
