The George & Dragon Hotel

I stayed here i enjoyed this stay. I did boil the ketrle.and that just before leaving . Dr otteker i added as the water cam be dubiiois .the demand for this water is high so i add a cleaner and i passed the water via a brita style filter . Its nice for comlan. The riom is cold fpr.me this is super i need cold as heat can might may be bad news? So thr electruc stpped Hmm Then it seems the kettle was not on a trip circuit tp syop a nlown fuse in the plug of thr ketyel it been a notmality to have a kettel over flow. I diid not shower as i found the amount of wayer is difficult to.keep many areas as this in constant sypply I neede dot be hydrated if i wash that does not happen ..and i spebt two.days readdresi g g this need .. Advjce tp all hotels.os hav3 a ketgle.with glass hwrer the customer sees the water is dirty or clean..it.is.a.beyyer sytem.not.rto be too.well.its water . ?

My partner and I have stayed in long melford at another hotel down the road many times ,but thought this time we would have a change and give here a try .we had been driving for 6hours so thought we would book here ,I used my debit card not a problem all went through.on arrival we were welcomed by a young woman to be then asked she needed a credit card to book in ,we thought she was joking no she said you need a credit card but I don't have one ,she said anyone's will do ,we were so shocked ,we were then told we couldn't stay ,so after a 6 hour drive we had to find another hotel .we were told it's in the very small print .Never heard of this ,after reading the reviews glad I didnt stay .

Friends told me to check this place out. I visited with a few friends and this place is referred to as a hotel more like a below average B&B. Had lunch there with a few friends and the food was not that nice to say the least. Will not be going back there that is for sure.

Booked our wedding here which was confirmed and deposit paid. Proprietor has since cancelled claiming venue had been double booked. Not what I’d expect from a wedding venue. Must be difficult to double book if you have any sort of simple diary system in place. Only suggestion from them was that we change everything else we had booked to a day that suited them and maybe then they could offer some sort of compensation. No thank you, trust gone and what’s the likely hood of everyone being able to meet the new date. More costs to us to change already booked services. No compensation offered for the inconvenience and proprietor doesn’t respond to emails now. Shame to have to leave a negative review due to no effort made to compensate. Couldn’t recommend based on lack of customer care.

Had my uncles 80th birthday here 24 people to celebrate, the food,ambience and staff were lovely, bar area good . But accomodation very tired looking , the hotel had heating issues on arrival to which they told us , had to all get ready in one room (8 of us ) , said issues would be sorted , most were , but our room no electric only main light worked, heating didn't TV , power points , could not use kettle , bitterly cold to . You need to deep clean rooms and freshen up as upstairs really lets this lovely place down , I shall not be returning or recommending the accommodation..

When my Mother spoke to this Hotel to book rooms for our family get together She asked about cancellation and was told that this hotel has a no refund policy but they would be willing to move to another date and this seamed reasonable. However when my Father was taken seriously I’ll into Hospital it had to be decided to postpone our Family gathering and my Mother called the Hotel to inform them that under the circumstances we would like to move our Booking. We were told this was not possible. That Day they took the full £558 from my parents credit card I emailed them asking them to honour the agreement and they replied they were only willing to allow a 50 % discount on a further Booking The attitude of this Hotel to its customers is absolutely disgusting and don’t deserve to succeed in this business.

This is a pub with a screen for watching sports and there music at night so as to set the scene. It is the same price as The Bull in Long Melford and I have stayed at both so here is a little bit of help to the owners. Refurb your rooms a bit. Toilet burped at night so probably a broken macerator, carpet in bathroom isn’t a good idea, only one pillow, mattress hard, bed rickety. The priority is to fix the outside back door which you can push open without a key. So anyone can walk in out of the street if they chance it and be outside the bedroom doors in a jiffy. Staff need to really care for their guests’ comfort or at least look and sound like they do. This isn’t a high end hotel so don’t be officious. Your first word to guests should feel like a welcome and ‘yes we can’. I know you guys can do it and I will stay again in the future .. just to check you have 😁 Lovely breakfast!!

We booked for an overnight stay while visiting family in Lavenham. This was the best looking venue for the location and price. In reality, things are very different. After booking a room with a private bathroom, we found out that the bathroom is indeed private, as you alone have a key, but it is down the passage from the room. It also has no heating, so feels like December in there. The toilet was initially blocked. The parking is not ample - there is a small lot which gets double parked. Our room light was dim. We could hear every word from the pub downstairs, along with a loud, jarring bang whenever the front door closes. It felt like the live music was in our room. The duvet inner was poking out of the cover - which had holes, looked inside out and had no buttons to keep the inner in. The TV remote was old and damaged. It was beyond slow to choose channels. Next time we may opt for a tent . . .

Believe this place is under new management so thought we would give it a try for lunch , shown to our table and given menus and that was it , 15 minutes later we went to bar and ordered drinks ,then someone came to take our order , the menu was nothing like the online one and didn’t even have fish and chips on it so not easy to choose but we ordered and waited , food arrived and anything that had a bit of salad with it looked like it was fresh about a week ago but tired and limp now no one enjoyed or finished their meal so will not be returning and advise any one to avoid at moment , maybe if it is a new set up it just needs a good shake up .
