I've struggled between average and very good. Firstly the staff are amazing! Very friendly and helpful, but genuine too, not 'just doing their job.' The hotel itself is a beautiful building in small but lovely grounds. Sadly our room, (34,) was two/three star. We went on a review package, so although we didn't pay full price, would of liked something better. It was very fusty, meaning we had to keep opening windows to air..leaving the room even colder than it already was. The paintwork peeling in places and the bathroom suite old looking with a slow small shower head. The worst was finding not one but three hairs of a certain variety on sink and toilet on arrival And a large hair in the bed. We did mention to Landis who was great and took the matter straight out of our hands. We did think, although a variety, the breakfast a bit pricey for what it was. Self serve from heated tins meant it wasn't freshly cooked or that hot. Lastly, there was a small gym but it was Freezing in there! I know you soon get warm working out but a lot of star jumps needed! The library and games room were great..the biggest pool table ever and the additional record player a lovely touch with a wide selection of records to choose from. Saying all that we would stay again but would prefer a nicer room in main building instead of an old outhouse building that was very cold.
