If you want to experience a hotel with local characteristics, you can consider choosing this hotel. It is a British country-style hotel located in a small town. It is very quiet and there are delicious restaurants nearby. For tourists, the experience is okay, but there is no elevator, which is not very convenient for carrying large luggage.

Having eaten at many restaurants with prestigious accolades, I can honestly say the food at The Old Stocks is as good as I’ve had anywhere across the UK. John Broughton and his team served up beautiful, seasonal dishes with the Mushroom Tortellini and Hazelnut Choux Bun particularly outstanding! All the while, Tamsin & Justine were fantastic hosts offering brilliant service throughout our meal. You never felt rushed and were able to really relax and enjoy the hospitality on offer, as well as the company! Even better we were staying in one of the lovely stylish and modern Garden Rooms to the rear of property. Suitably nourished and hydrated, we enjoyed one of the best sleeps we've had in a while. Breakfast was equally fantastic with a wonderful selection of fresh fruit and cereals, together with great cooked options which were prepared perfectly. A word also for Amanda on the front desk who had some wonderful suggestions for things to do in the local area and couldn’t have been more helpful when we arrived. The Old Stocks have got it mastered in terms of what people want when they go away. Every single detail is covered which just allows you to switch off and relax. Considering you're in the Cotswold's, it represented such great value for money and it’s somewhere we can’t wait to re-visit. Thank you again. Andrew & Alexis

We have just returned from a fabulous night celebrating my birthday. I can honestly say this was a lovely hotel, the attention to detail was exemplary and the room was perfect. Thank you for the sweet welcome card that accompanied the bottle of fizz organised by my husband. The bathroom had such gorgeous smelling products I had to buy them, the towels were large and fluffy and the bedding was crisp and luxurious. We slept so well after a wonderful dinner in the restaurant. I can certainly recommend escaping to this gorgeous boutique hotel for a night in the Cotswolds.

We received a very friendly and efficient welcome from Richard, who helped us carry our cases up to our room on the first floor – I believe it is classified as an ‘Amazing Great Room’. Big king+ size bed and lovely large walk-in shower; there’s also a stylish claw-foot bath for those who can get in and out of such things, which no longer includes me. The bathroom is large and well appointed, but there’s a big crack in the sink. I loved the really big waste paper basket. A handrail to the upper level of the staircase would be very welcome. Hospitality tray; good teas, and good to see fresh milk in fridge. But you could perhaps re-think the Bronte biscuits, which I find over-sweet. Dinner was excellent; we both had the lamb with aubergines, anchovies etc, and thought it was the best lamb we’d ever had. Then I had the hazelnut choux pastry, which was superb. Breakfast was fine too; the selection of fruit and cereals is well presented and varied, with the apricots in orange syrup a stand-out. I had a selection from the cooked breakfast, and my husband had eggs benedict. The sausage was particularly tasty. The hotel was very busy on the Friday evening, but it didn't significantly affect the service for dinner. I had a champagne cocktail beforehand; times being what they are, it was actually English sparkling wine, but it was really good and I was practically pie-eyed before we moved into the restaurant – haven't had one for ages, but it was so worth it. I had smoked trout to start with some sort of pickled cucumber, and my husband had tortellini with mushroom sauce; then we both had pork two ways, very easy to eat and excellent. (Not sure what the singular of tortellini is, but there was just one large one.) I should also add that the hot mini-loaf that comes at the start of the meal is also very agreeable. There is a real sense of occasion when dining here, which is the mark of a good hotel. The staff are personable and enthusiastic and were very welcoming when we arrived in the restaurant. It all made for an enjoyable break.

I contacted them directly, and received a great rate, which included breakfast. Everyone on the staff, that I talked to, knew a lot about the area and getting around. Providing advice for trails, busses and taxis. If I was comfortable driving on the other side of the road, I would stay here longer and use it as a base to see more of the Cotswolds. Clean and very well maintained property, a high quality place to stay, and a great value if you book direct.

The Inn is in great location for visiting the Cotswold area. The local bus route stops right out front. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We ate at the restaurant and it was great. My Seabass was the best I ever had. Be aware that the Inn is not airconditioned.

Wow! This was the best hotel we have stayed out in a very long time. The staff was incredibly accommodating, the rooms were spacious and comfortable- far superior to the other hotel rooms our friends stayed out next door. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. The restaurant staff was so sweet to our baby- they held him and kept him entertained, especially Justine! She was absolutely amazing! We are so grateful and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We booked Sunday lunch for a family birthday during the early May bank holiday weekend. We had 6 people and 2 dogs and were allocated a lovely table in a small conservatory area with bifold windows that meant we had just the right amount of fresh air. Sadly we only had room for mains but the food was so good. The only comment we had was the meat portion was a little on the small side. Staff were all friendly and welcoming - a breath of fresh air after a few bad customer service experiences that weekend! Would definitely recommend and am going to look at room availability for an upcoming Cotswolds trip later this summer.

As all reviewers have noted, this is a fabulous hotel in the Cotswolds. The location, the decor, the attention to detail and quality is top notch. The food and cocktails are stellar. Such a fabulous restaurant. We were truly cared for by everyone. (Every SINGLE person. A to Z. Brand champions at every position.). We will be back. You have set the bar for our two week tour about England and Wales. Big love!
