The best that can be said of the Lost Guest House is that it’s well located on a leafy residential street on the outskirts of Stirling, it’s a quick walk into the pedestrian area that leads uphill to the Castle and it offers free parking on the premises. Here’s the rest of what $150 p/night gets you: Room 15 was shabby, the walls had recently been refreshed with a commercial wallpaper in today’s popular light gray color. The closet was not freshly painted, it had scuff marks and damaged walls. If you didn’t look too closely it was clean. No water glass was provided, we only had 2 mugs for the coffee station, and the luggage rack was missing also, both standard items in hospitality. The bathroom had been modernized at some point but was now in dire need of a recaulk. Also if you didn’t look too closely it was clean. There was no bathroom fan, and the room’s window had a cracked pane and stayed open thanks to a well-placed screw. The twin beds were abysmal. Lumpy, soft, and hard, all at the same time depending on where one placed one’s body on the mattress. The sheets and towels were good quality, but the bottom sheet was a tad short and there was a ***** of naked mattress showing under the pillows. Ugh. 2 nights. Over and Out.

Good central location. Friendly staff. Reading other reviews I think it depends which room you get. Our window wouldn’t open and we could hear a noise like water pipes or tank banging at 5 min intervals all the time and through the night. The shower was scalding hot 1 minute, freezing the next. Plug holes and under bath taps were just disgusting. As were the ledges and silicone round the bath and behind the bathroom door. Pricey for the state of the bathroom. The beds were fine. Not sure if I would stay here again.

Guys. Potentially one of the worst places I've stayed in for a while. Was looking forward to a nice shower after hiking all day and it is impossible. The shower either burns my skin off or is freezing cold. There is no temperature control at all. This is making me really unhappy because I'm tired and dirty and all I wanted was a nice shower before bed and this place wasn't exactly cheap either. I can also hear EVERYTHING from the room next to me. No sound proofing at all. I'm tired, dirty and being kept awake by noise. This accommodation is not worth the money. If there was someone manning the desk past 8pm I would be able to talk to them about it, but sadly there is not. The staff go home and there is no one around.

We stayed 1 night in the guest house which was fine. The room was basic but clean. It did lack things like a bathmat and there was only one hand towel which made washing your hair more difficult. The beds were a bit uncomfortable We didn’t feel very welcome on arrival. It felt more like the male receptionist was being inconvenienced. We were told reception was manned from 8am to 8pm but when we tried to check out in the morning no one was there, so we rang the service bell. After waiting a lengthy time the male receptionist arrived only to bark at us to leave the key in the box. We explained that we hadn’t paid for breakfast yet and needed to pay. He said he would charge the card on file before disappearing again. It really is not good service for the price you pay. Manners cost nothing!! It puts a damper on your stay. I would never return here. Don’t stay here if you are looking for a comfortable holiday.

You might have company in your bed like I did , was to scared to sleep incase anymore arrived and went in my ears , mouth or up my nose 🤮 When I complained the following morning I was told I should have let someone know that night , there is no1 there at night for you to contact and I only know that as we were told don’t loose your keys as nobody is here at night !!

Featuring free toiletries, this quadruple room includes a private bathroom with the tiniest shower I have used. The room was large, sparsely decorated, with clean and comfortable beds. It is not an easy walk from the train station and it is not well marked. While the receptionist was friendly, when we checked our bags for a few hours we were led to a filthy bathroom and told to leave our suitcases next to others on the floor within inches of the unflushed toilet. The male house keeper made us feel extremely uncomfortable and acted like we were an imposition when we rang the doorbell to collect our bags.

Place needs a lot of TLC, looks quite overdue for a refurb. Mattress wasn't comfy. Room didn't feel particularly clean either, and there was a lot of noise coming through from the room above which prevented sleep. Shower has temperature and water pressure issues. All these factors meant really poor value for money, despite the rate being quite low. Staff friendly and helpful as far as they could be and this rating is not a reflection on them.

If your looking for a comfy bed and a decent shower then book somewhere else. The shower temp goes between the fires of hell to the artic circle at random times and don't bother trying to wash your hair it's not worth the effort as the pressure is no more than a dribble so it takes ages just to wash off shower gel. When you've been out all day exploring sterling all you want is a decent shower and good sleep you'll get neither here
