There are supermarkets and gas stations nearby, free parking, plenty of parking spaces, very convenient. Stirling Castle is very close, 10 minutes' drive. We arrived at Glasgow Airport early and arrived at the hotel at 11 o'clock, but we were not allowed to check in early, so we had to leave our luggage at the front desk first. We had been on a flight for more than ten hours and wanted to go to the hotel to take a good shower and take a nap before going out to play, but this hotel was unwilling to let us check in early.

We stayed in the Highland many years ago & had a good experience. Unfortunately not the case on this occasion. Given the location & proximity to central Stirling could be so much better, Pluses were the location, spa & friendly welcome. We had a room on second floor which had a nice city view. Unfortunately furnishings were very tired & there were visible ring marks on the bedside tables. Hallway carpet had holes in it. We used the spa area & this was well maintained. Breakfast was average. What really let the hotel down was the fact they allowed certain guests to come to breakfast in their pyjamas. Why is management allowing this? Don’t want to be eating while someone has their unwashed bare feet resting on a seat next to me. Not for us I’m afraid.

Had dinner last night at the restaurant. The menu has been newly updated and I must say it is an improvement in every area. So many local places serve the same haggis, burgers and fish and chips. I am not saying we don't all fancy that once in a while but also its great to have something a bit different once in awhile. I had the duck and it was excellent, cooked to perfection. Give the new menu a try, you won't be disappointed.

I stayed at the HI Express in Stirling for the BTCC racing at nearby Knockhill circuit. The hotel itself is easy to access from the main routes and is clearly signposted from quite a way back on the A91. There's also a spacious car park on site. My room on the 1st floor was clean and tidy and reasonably spacious. The aircon unit was a little noisy to start but soon settled down. The bathroom and shower were also spacious and easy to operate. The staff were lovely and welcoming and got me checked in with zero fuss and also very handily wrote down the amended breakfast serving times (as I was unaware that Scotland had a bank holiday) . The only downside of the stay was breakfast on the second morning. On my first morning (Sunday) the breakfast buffet opened at 7:00 and fully stocked, which made my early start to Knockhill much more pleasant with some sausage and bacon. Unfortunately on the following Monday morning there was no sausage available as it seems the delivery had not arrived, it also seemed to affect other parts of the breakfast offering too. This is the only thing that stops this review being a 5/5.

The reception was friendly and helpful, room was clean, very spacious, comfortable and all the necessities were given. Lovely kettle for a cup of tea in my room. I enjoyed my weekend there very much.

GGuest UserThis is a small boutique hotel classified as ‘rooms with restaurant’ and sited in a quiet conservation area that is probably one of the most affluent residential parts of Stirling. The hotel is constructed of local sandstone (in the Georgian style) and boasts large windows, high ceilings and other features you’d expect - clean, quiet, and comfortable. Rooms were warm, spacious and our sleep quality was excellent. In fact, all the staff couldn’t have been more helpful all the time we were there. Nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed lovely breakfasts as well as dinners in the attached restaurant. I liked the menu - where you could have a set meal at very reasonable prices if you wanted. Chef had prepared a very impressive lemon dessert designed for people with diabetes and I saw vegetarian and GF options listed as well. The wines were nicely selected too, and knowledgeable staff helped match with our courses very well. There were six parking spaces and behind the hotel and plenty of on street parking. Wi-Fi worked well for us in our rooms as well as the dining and drawing rooms downstairs. We did notice some dust at high level on the first day (I’m 189 cm in shoes so it’s easy for me to reach shower rails, door jambs and other dust traps), but this can be an issue with period houses and the team quickly fixed it. Our room was serviced daily and sparkling clean after that. Overall, the hotel offers a tranquil break in a superb location - convenient to the castle, golf course and other attractions along with great walks and views. Close to main shopping, cafes, and recommended local restaurants such as Hermann’s and The Indian Cottage. Well worth a stay and a meal if you are in the region!

GGuest UserThe real star of this hostel is its location right in the thick of the old town . It is situated next to the Old Town gaol which is where the tourist information centre is . The castle is just up the hill along the cobbled street.You need your keycard to gain entry to the corridors and your rooms. The accomodation is on two levels and this is quite a climb not to mention the walk up the hill. My room was compact ,4 bunkbeds with ensuite shower and toilet ,however the floor boards creak and are very noisy so early mornings and late nights disturb everyone . The staff are friendly and are good at providing information . Just down the street is a Wetherspoons pub (The Crossed peels) which has good for food and beer good value for money. There are other bars that looked good but i did not have the opportunity to try. There is also a VUE cinema over the footbridge at the railway station . During my stay the UCI World cycling championship was taking place and the streets were closed on and off for most of my stay so to avoid being trapped in the car park on my day of departure to Pitlochry i had to park at Springkerse park and ride for 3 nights which is over a mile away. Parking at the hostel is limited anyway to about 8 spaces.

LLanThe location is perfect. On the half hillside, the castle is going up. Going down is the place where the commercial street eats. The hotel room is relatively spacious and relatively new. Parking is free. The female front desk on the day of the stay was very friendly and very welcoming. I also said that I saw the Chinese credit card for the first time and felt very good. However, breakfast, originally done very well, half buffet, half-meal, good quality, that is, the price was told at the time of check-in, if you add two people 15 pounds on the spot, I also confirmed it because I felt cheap. As a result, the check-out received 19.8 pounds. The gap is not big, but when the argument is different, the front desk of the next day does not confirm it, and it directly denies it. The perfect experience was deducted from the next day's female front desk.

GGrace BGood central location. Friendly staff. Reading other reviews I think it depends which room you get. Our window wouldn’t open and we could hear a noise like water pipes or tank banging at 5 min intervals all the time and through the night. The shower was scalding hot 1 minute, freezing the next. Plug holes and under bath taps were just disgusting. As were the ledges and silicone round the bath and behind the bathroom door. Pricey for the state of the bathroom. The beds were fine. Not sure if I would stay here again.
