Southport Motel & Apartments

Not too good,not too bad. Location is near China town and trams station. However It seemed not really clean some parts. For example I found a hair in the bathroom and water around the sink. Hall and steps has drink dropping. Also it's little bit noisy when other people talking from outside of rooms.

There's something institutional, think prison or NSW public housing, about the design of this motel. With its rooms leading off a central walkway and open stairways to the second floor (see photo) it wasn't ideal in terms of noise, privacy or security. The room itself was clean but utterly charmless, but it was what looked like jemmy marks on the inside (!) of the door, the warning notices about security and the fact that both front doors were unlocked when I went out for a smoke in the wee hours that were off-putting. The homeless guy with his plastic bags at the bus stop outside the entrance didn't help. Really, I don't know why people stay here when a 4-star hotel in a Surfers is cheaper.

There was a microwave,but there wasn't much in the way of cutlery & no plates? There was no shower gel!! But there was soaps-shampoos-conditioners in the bathroom instead.. It was only a $50 "key deposit" which was refunded after handing in/departure. The check in time was good though as they allowed me to arrive without having to wait until around 2 p.m. The reception were very good. So there were mainly positives but with the negatives it's disappointing with the price paid* the 2 single beds instructions I believe online when booking weren't specific I don't think as I thought it was a "standard room" therefore double bed instead but as it was the only 1 left so I don't really know as I believe usually this means just the 1 bed in the room not 2?

I booked this motel for the weekend, as it had pretty good reviews and was slightly cheaper than the accommodation closer to the beach at Southport. What a mistake that was. We booked a family room with three single beds and they came with no blankets, just sheets. It was cold! Staff at the front counter said that the doonas must have been stolen. He then fetched some filthy and smelly bed covers to put on top instead. The mattresses were from a few decades ago, the worst we have ever slept on, it was like trying to sleep on concrete. The next night we were going out to dinner and I went to use the hotel iron. It spewed out rusty water all over my clothes and didn’t warm up. I went to get a replacement iron and was given one with the assurance that it was brand new. The underside was coated in black charred material, which when heated, also stained the clothes. There was a squashed cockroach on the wall, used soap from another guest on top of the shower screen and some dried blood stains on the bathroom cupboard door. We are never staying here again, it was disgusting and very disappointing, given that we still paid a fair bit of money for the room. We would like our money back.

I stayed at Earls Court Southport during the Gold Coast Marathon Weekend. This location is apprix 1km from the start line so the run to the start line on race day can be a warm up. I stayed there on my own so was sufficient and comfortable for one night. Room was clean and very friendly staff. Will definitely stay there again.

I arrived late on a Friday night. Just dropping off to sleep when other guests arrived back and proceeded to make an unholy racket. Not much sleep that night - arrived back Saturday arvo to find the party in full swing - yelling, swearing, banging and loud music continuously but nothing done by management. I left and found alternative accommodation - came back Sunday to return the key and to ask for a refund for the last night which I thought was only fair. The manager said I have to apply through ******* which I duly did and was refused again. At no time was there any apology or empathy from the manager - they had my money and that was as far as it went. Worst ever accommodation experience and at no stage was my room made up either.

Surprise visit to Qld without booked accommodation. Found this place on Booking. Com, The receptionist was friendly and informative. The room was old but fantastic. We were surprised at the size and cleanliness of it. Under COVID I’ve taken to cleaning and wiping down with disinfectant wipes but this place was clean. No black marks found. Quite even though it’s on the main road. Close to China town we walked. Lots of choices for food. We’d recommend and stay here again.
