Motel 6 Southgate, MI - Detroit

It is the most decent hotel/motel for the price range. They were doing some renovation and the noise was annoying but, beyond that everything was fine.

I stayed here for a period of time while in between houses. It was one of the few places I could afford.... while it was technically a roof over our head it was far from anything pleasant The place is falling apart, some of the stuff from the 2nd level actually fell down outside, it was a few rooms down from us, thankfully. All/most rooms have some sort of damage or things that don't work. Our toilet leaked on one side, and the shower rod had been pulled out of the wall on one side, you could tell ppl had just been shoving it back in the wall without repairing, a lamp was busted...... Cops called because of ppl getting into fights and waving guns around Add to that the fact that they tried to say we caused the damage that was preexisting, raising the deposit cost by more than double what it had been AND charged my card $60.88 for a night that I didn't stay, saying I had a reservation that I didn't make...I have receipt from the motel we did stay at instead..... when I called the person who answered claimed they were going to " look into it" and call me back, but didn't, they had no explanation for why they charged me. I do not recommend this place, even for a regular vacation of 1-2 days.... your room will be a disaster & if the mood hits the person at the desk they will claim you damaged things & keep deposits.....

The motel is fair, nothing to write home about. But they charge you a $50 damage deposit up front, and they TELL you: "we put it on your card and it's refunded to you when you check out." Then when you check out, they tell you, "it will be refunded to you at the end of the day." Then after a week passes and you haven't received it, you call up and the person on the line (with an attitude because they must field these calls every day) says, "The deposit can take 10 days to be refunded back to your account." Hmmm, first it was at check out, then the end of the day, now 10 days??? That seems outright deceiving to me. Certainly there are other places to stay within close proximity to this dive.

Loved the property, beautiful lobby and amazing vending room/laundry. The staff was professional and friendly, Sonia and Tom were amazing. Love the price for the rooms, will come back again. Would love to have shampoo/conditioner provided in the rooms

Great service and great staff I will always recommend Motel 6 to anyone. Love all the staff Thanks for everything you do especially for allowing us to stay longer to check out when stranded. The staff was always generous and polite

I was given an awful room after signing in. The toilet did not work properly. Bathroom lights did not work. AC cover was coming off. The television did not work. I freely admit they readily let have a different room. It was better. I still had no bathroom lights and sink pressure was low. Here is my real issue. How does management not know these things? Isn't housekeeping alerted to report problems? If management knew, then don't rent the room until it is fixed. I had problems in two different rooms. Now I realize I was at Motel 6, not a high end hotel. That does not relieve management of the responsibility for making sure that things work. In addition, if I encountered two different rooms with issues, how many more were there? Why should I trust this place to provide me with decent rooms in the future? I cannot recommend this facility.
