Travelodge Oxford Wheatley

The hotel was a bit frayed around the edges, looked like it was over due a revamp. The staff however were fantastic. They were polite, kind, thoughtful, helpful and compassionate. The customer service was excellent.

Firstly, I booked this Travelodge due to the convenience of free parking and the ‘new design’ of the hotel - described on the website as ‘Our Oxford Wheatley hotel has been extensively refurbished with all areas of the hotel modernised, including bedrooms and shower rooms’. We were very disappointed upon entering our room to see that it was not the ‘new design’ and had clearly not been renovated in years. The bathroom was a disgrace and extremely unhygienic. There were stains all over the hand soap (which was empty), the toilet roll holder (which had half a roll left and no spares), the water was freezing and took over 10 mins to warm up in the shower and tap, and no bath mat to prevent us from slipping. The USB socket next to the side of the bed did not work - we were in room 203. We mentioned these issues to staff on reception during the evening who stated the hotel was full and we wouldn’t be able to move rooms but to make a complaint online to the customer service team. We could clearly tell this was not the first time the staff had dealt with this by advising to make the complaint online about the standards of the hotel. Never again! Pay extra for a premier inn!

Don’t expect much, it is a Travelodge. We were up to just get a bed that would allow pets so with our small dog and 3 adults, it did the job. The room was clean, staff helpful when we asked for something and the charge for the dog still made it a ‘fair’ price. Unfortunately after the first, short shower, there was no more hot water and I ended up having a cold shower, disappointing. You get what you pay for and that would detail the room and pet charge. I would have expected hot water as part of that. Never going to get 5 stars for what it is, hot water would have been 4, nearly a two star rating but it did the job.

The close proximity of The M40 and Oxford, big spacious room, ample parking, good ensuite shower. Great value at £29.99 on the night I stayed. Very impressed, the only negative point was no hot breakfast was available as The neighbouring Harvester was closed that morning.

Staff were brilliant made the experience easy. The rooms were clean as should be, the hotel was in a good location just by an Asda and small village just on the outskirts of Oxford. ………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Excellent caring staff we booked in because our home was flooded Staff were very kind and helpful. We had to extend our stay but it was not a problem. We were able to stay in the same room rather than the effort to change.

Lovely stay, hotel was very clean and such a quiet location no busy road to keep you awake parking was also free which is a bonus and very handy to have the asda opposite to grab a bite to eat also the harvester is right next door staff all friendly and welcome you with a smile

Be aware, prices fluctuate, the original price changes, when you book. On arrival room was filthy, bedding hadn't been changed with dirty towels strewn at the end of the bed. Embarrassed staff stated they were fully booked, strange as only 5 vehicles in the car park. Tried to rebook alternative accommodation, ended up without a room for the night.

We 9 of us had great stay . Lots of fun , no issue , great location at good price . The team was good and professional , friendly . We even stayed outside after the car broke down , we asked for hot water for cup noodles and they were very friendly. They even let us know that they were making changes in the lodge . Welcomed us
