The hotel room is very small, unlike domestic hotels, and the price/performance ratio is very poor. The two white female front desk staff are ******. The room seems to be monitored. As long as a third person appears in the room during the day, we will soon be called to ask us to ask the third person to exit. Room!

It's just a better B&B, but to be honest I can't appreciate it.
There is one room in one building, and the restaurant is downstairs.

It's a Relais & Châteaux hotel, but this was the only room available when I made the reservation. I didn't expect it to be so small. If you can afford it, book a larger one. It's comfortable to stay in and there's a Michelin restaurant downstairs.

We just keep going back!! Absolute fantastic relaxing stay.. The room was wonderful, food amazing and the Staff are the best!! Impeccable service at both restaurants and I must mention what a breath of fresh air Grace was!!! We will most definately be back soon..

A well needed break for my fiancé after filming for the BBC. The Gilpin has been everything we needed and more. The team are brilliant, the food lovely and the comfiest beds in the world! I have to give a special shout out to the one and only Grace - a lovely, kind and special lady who was an absolute credit to the Gilpin and evidently at the forefront of their core values of being a ‘home from home’. Gilpin… Until next time - Grace - Harry misses you already! x

Have stayed in numerous hotels in the UK and overseas but this was the best overall by far! Beautiful place to stay . The decor, staff, food, surroundings and facilities were just outstanding! All the staff displayed just the right balance between friendliness and professionalism. I’m extremely interested in cuisine , especially where my food comes from, and was so appreciative that head chef took the time to talk to me personally. I just cannot wait to return here. I mustn’t forget to mention our lovely, helpful and friendly breakfast waitress , Grace! Unforgettable in the nicest way!

Food was amazing - we were advised about the number of dishes and it was spot on. The pork is amazing and we’ve never had egg fried rice like it! Really wonderful experience.
