Marriott Grand Residence Club, Lake Tahoe

Everything is great! We love the pool.

While we live in Palo Alto, we've had a vacation house in Kirkwood for 26 years. Driving up to Kirkwood this past weekend for a one-week vacation, our Audi wouldn't start. Only one auto shop in South Lake Tahoe works on German cars, so we decided to stay in South Lake for a couple of nights while our car was being repaired. While we have driven by Heavenly Village since it was being built 22 years ago, we never stopped there. Marriott Grand Residence seemed ideal, as it is at the center of the village, so you could walk to all kinds of restaurants and shops. Better yet, it had a big pool and two jacuzzis. We decided to book a room that had a bedroom with a king size bed and separate kitchen and living room. The unit was huge, it was so much better than being stuck in a 450 sq. foot hotel room. The room had a balcony and looked out over the pool. We got there at 11:30am, expecting we'd have to wait several hours to check-in, but our room was already available. Awesome, as we got a free pool day this way. The room was very clean, and we didn't make use of the kitchen but it was fully stocked with dishes, glasses, etc. The pool was fantastic. Perfect temperature and extremely well maintained. I really liked the lobby of the hotel, which had a lot of space for hanging out, multiple TVs, etc. We wound up walking to three different restaurants during our stay, all 5-minute walks. With two of them, if you mentioned you were staying at the Marriott you got 10% off. Overall a great stay and we were able to make the most of our car being repaired.

Nice stay. Hotel is older and needs both an updating and some maintenance, but nothing terrible. Fantastic location from a convenience standpoint. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms can be a bit noisy depending on location, but it all seems to end fairly early. The pool is great, but there didn't seem to be a lot else for the kids.

Grand Residence is the finest property we have ever visited. The entire property is indeed impressively elegant right from the lobby to the room. The lobby is very spacious with a fantastic interior. They have provided ample sofas and chairs for the guests. There are also fire places at convenient locations. These are very useful especially in cold weather. The rooms are fantastic with couple of sofas and chairs. There are two television sets in the living room and bedroom. They have taken utmost care to ensure their guests are comfortable.

Great location near shopping dining and entertainment. It's a bit of a time share push which seems outdated.

A fantastic hotel in the perfect location in South Lake Tahoe. We booked the day before we checked in as part of our road trip and we were pleasantly surprised, the property has a lot of character, sort of ski chalet vibe. Staff were all help and friendly, particularly the lady on check in who had just joined in October (didn’t catch her name). Whilst our room was nothing particular special, it was still clean, tidy and comfortable. There are no bars or restaurants within the hotel but they offer you a discount card which can be used in some of the restaurants, bars, shops in the area. The pool area is very nice, although they were doing minor construction work at the time. The large pool is nice, but the jacuzzi was lovely! Great stay, would recommend, thank you.

Kitchen was fully equipped but we only used the fridge and microwave. Convenient to everything. Staff friendly. Valet parking was expensive.
