Occidental Sousse Marhaba

Wonderful place to visit. Last day today and the animation team, Malik, Panda and Alex was so welcoming funny and all around fantastic! The waiter Aleksander was just so accommdating and couldn't do enough for us. Would recommend anyone to come here!

Having visited Tunisia last year in an amazing hotel we were looking forward to returning this year and trying a different area and hotel. In comparison to our previous visit we found the hotel a little disappointing, there is a shortage of pool towels and we were told there were non left on our first day. We did manage to secure them on our second day by getting out early but there are no way near enough to go around. No ac so you have to sleep with the balcony door open which then means you get eaten alive by mosquitoes. The rooms are basic but clean and the beds are comfy. However the fridge was warm although I did manage to get them to swap this after complaining which I appreciated. Only one socket in the room which isn’t ideal. The food at the pool snack bar is terrible dry chicken nuggets and pastries. No food available down at the beach bar either so you have to trek up and down. We did have occasions where meat was pink in the middle so we mostly stuck to the veggie options but the food in the dining area is generally really nice. I can’t say wether it’s hotel related so won’t speculate but 3 of our party fell ill with d&v on the second day followed by 2 more on the third and fourth day to the point they were bed bound although the cleaners were fantastic in getting the room cleaned and fresh sheets they most certainly deserve tips. Sadly the beach is filthy with litter which granted is down to lazy guests that can’t be bothered to use the many bins but it’s a real shame as it would be a beautiful beach otherwise having children that like to play in the sand it’s not very pleasant to have hundreds of cigarette butts and various other items littering the sand. Having said that I can’t fault the staff from the cleaners, waiters, lifeguards, animation, gardeners they’re all lovely and work so hard to accommodate you that and the lovely grounds made our stay enjoyable so thank you to them all but in my personal opinion I would say it’s a 3 rather than a 4 star hotel and you can have a nice holiday here all in all.
