I'm unsure where to start with this review as our experience was so disappointing, but I will say that we managed to get a partial refund through eShores, the agency we used to book our holiday. We arrived at around 5:30 PM on the day we landed in St. Lucia. Bearing in mind that we had flown to a country we’d never visited before and had navigated the challenging road from George Charles Airport to Soufrière in our own hire car, my husband was quite stressed. The office at the resort closes at either 4:30 or 5 PM (it seems to be whenever they feel like it), so there was no welcome other than a security guard giving us some basic information about where the pools were. The infinity pool, which we were told couldn't be used after 5 PM because it’s the owner’s pool, was effectively off-limits. We were also informed that we needed to go to the office in the morning to get our breakfast vouchers and pool towels, meaning we couldn’t use the pool until then. The kids were impressed with the space. We stayed in units 9 and 9a, but that’s where the positives ended. With no other dining options and no knowledge of Soufrière, we headed up to the on-site restaurant for dinner, passing by the smell of rotting mangoes that lined the pavement. Mango trees are abundant in the area, and unfortunately, this smell was something we encountered frequently during our stay. The path up to the restaurant isn’t well-lit and is poorly maintained, so you really need a torch to see where you’re going. Once there, we received a pleasant greeting, but things quickly went downhill. Traveling with three children, we were excited to see pizza on the menu, only to be told “no pizza”. When we tried to order drinks, there was no orange juice, no apple juice—just local mango juice, which the kids weren’t interested in. The food was okay, but the service was very slow. After dinner, we made our way back down the winding hill to our rooms. When I went to adjust my pillow before bed, I discovered it was filthy, with a stained pillow underneath a second pillowcase. I threw it on the floor and didn’t dare check the others, as I still needed something to sleep on. The next morning, we got a better look at the surroundings. The view was beautiful, but that’s about the only positive aspect I can recall. We trudged back up the hill for breakfast and had to wait around for 10 minutes while my husband collected 35 breakfast vouchers! We were staying for 7 nights with 5 people, so apparently, each person needed a signed scrap of paper. Having seen an extensive menu at dinner, we looked forward to a variety of options like pastries, fruit, yogurt, and cooked dishes. But we were disappointed again. The breakfast selection was extremely limited: a small pot of beans, eggs (the resort has egg-laying birds), toast, a minuscule saucer of fruit, and a tiny bowl of yogurt. When I asked for mango juice, I was told “no juice”. The drink options were tea, coffee, and water, even though the nearby

Very quiet and relaxing place to stay. While the resort itself is somewhat dated, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The beds are very comfortable and you cannot beat the views of the Pitons! We would definitely return here. We had a very nice stay at this resort.

Best view, relaxing gorgeous infinity pool and loved the cashew room! Our balcony was huge with hammock and chairs, mango tree outside and horse and donkey nearby. Food was only ok but this was a great first night on the island, felt very welcomed and comfortable!

Positives- great view of Pitons, (unrelated but on site) restaurant food good, fabulous infinity pool Negatives- 1.Accommodation-we are staying in a ‘superior’ room. It is not tired in its decor and furnishings, it is exhausted, i.e. circa 1930, In a separate stay a week ago.we had a different room with a lovely generous balcony with a view, but also tired , with a less than clean feel 2. Service- Got a problem after 4:00 when the closet of an office closes?Tough luck till the a.m. 3. Grounds- crying for TLC- discarded bits & pieces sprinkled about, cracks, potholes, and could be good commercial for before and after paint job, this being the before. 4. Location- either you have a car or you get ready to open your wallet for taxis

Don’t get me wrong the scenery here is beautiful and somewhat breathtaking. Though how long have you got until you actually die… I believe it very much depends on what you’re looking for coming here. It’s beautiful to relax, though neither convenient or luxurious. Extremely basic, like back to 1960 period. Big enough space, though more like a campsite amenity. An old fridge the age of Methuselah himself and air con whilst effective very restricted to one small area. You get what you pay for of course. Breakfast is… rationed and very strict on the menu; an elaborate twist on choice of eggs; fried scrambled or boiled and meat is ham or bacon? Though adequate. The breakfast waiter was such a pleasure. His manners, respect and attitude was second to none. Really wish I’d remembered his name. Lovely, humble guy studying graphic design. Really wish him all the best and hope he excels in life! There are no facilities on site - not whilst we were there anyway. I left behind a pair of trainers - and they arrived to my next designation in a day or two, totally unexpected, which was such a lovely gesture

We love La Haut. This was a second time there. 9 nights of tranquility. Our flight was delayed. We got in late but the front desk arranged for security to show us to our room. Glender and Marvin helped us with beach towels, laundry, and taxis. We found the front desk to be readily available and always friendly. We stayed in Cashew #3. The room was beautiful. Large comfortable bed and spotless. A shout out to our housekeeper, Vern. She was very nice and did a great job. The view is second to none. Not only the Pitons but a view of Soufriere. Lovely at night. The sounds of the forest at night, a soundtrack to relaxation. We had beautiful sunsets and moon views. The room has air conditioning, it works well. The endless pool is spotless and the views incredible. A little bit chilly. We used swim tops for extra comfort. It is just big enough to do some laps! The property was once a fruit plantation. The grounds are lovely. Lots of birds, flowers, and fruit trees. There is even a donkey on site. Fun. This is not an all-inclusive resort were you never leave the property. This is a place to experience the real St Lucia and a great launching pad to the surrounding area. I recommend having a car, but it is not necessary. It depends on your length of stay and how much you want to explore. On Valentines Day we got a taxi and went to the Chocolate restaurant. The taxi was $50 U.S round trip, so that could add up fast. We took our car exploring daily. Two of the world’s best beaches. Anse Chastanet and Anse Manim are very close. You can also take a water taxi from Soufriere. If you like to snorkel or just swim this is top notch. You can use the amenities of the resorts for around $25 per person. Seems like a deal considering rooms at the resort start around $1000 per night. We also drove to the volcano, Gris Piton and Project Chocolate at Hotel Chocolate. Do not miss the Sunday market at Project Chocolate. Fresh juices were the best on the island. All easy drives from La Haut. We rented a Chevy Spark because it is tiny. Good for the narrow roads but had good clearance for the beach road. We have a friend in town, the Island Chef, so we did not eat at the restaurant at La Haut but a couple of times. The food is very good, but they seemed understaffed, so things move a bit slow. But it’s Island Time! I do recommend the restaurant. The views are fantastic. Our waiter, Shade was super nice and was working hard. We met La Haut owners, the Allen’s. They were super nice. On our last visit Joe was crushing sugarcane on a wheel powered by the donkey. He mixed the juice with Bounty Rum and shared with us. Then we talked a good while and solved all the words problems! I saw some reviews about the condition of the property. I have stayed in some funky places in the Caribbean. This is not one of them. Possibly a good analogy would be the difference between your large local supermarket compared to your local famers market. It’s not “fancy” but its’s comfortable and be

Best hotel view and accommodation. Special thanks to our housekeeper who was amazing, Very peaceful and clean. Stunning backdrops and pools. Perfect place to relax with nature. Not sure why there were caged birds though.

La Haut property is lovely. The view of the Pitons and town of Soufriere below are beautiful. As with most places you stay on the island, if you aren't renting a car, you should be prepared to be picked up at property for any tours. A round trip taxi ride to/from town will cost between $20-30 USD. Communication with staff at La Haut was excellent and we appreciated them arranging our pickup from the airport. Lush restaurant on site is very good and the staff are quite friendly.

La Haut Resort must be the best value for money accommodation in Soufriere. We chose it (as I’m sure everyone else does) for the incredible infinity pool picture on Tripadvisor. The views from this pool and practically everywhere else on the resort are as good in real life if not better. We felt very fortunate that La Haut is priced as it is as most hotels in the area require remortgaging your house to pay for them. All the staff seem genuinely friendly and were extremely helpful. The cleaners went to lots of effort with displays of flowers and even balloons and messages for a birthday. Both pools are superb in their own right, not too cold or too hot and best of all we did not have to share them once the whole trip! The restaurant on site (Lush) again has the amazing views you would expect and good quality food at a much more affordable price than all the other resort restaurants we visited. The breakfast in particular is excellent. There is a good sized car park which is easily accessible and the road to the hotel is well maintained (unlike the incredibly steep, narrow and pot holed road to the 5 star resorts situated at Anse Chastanet). Car hire is highly recommended to make the most of the trip and by and large the roads were easy to drive. The rooms are probably in need of updating but were full of character, the kitchenette was useful and the balcony was a great place to relax. You will have to pay a lot more on St Lucia if you want “luxury” rooms with four poster beds and white washed pristine walls. Overall, this was a fantastic holiday and we were delighted to spend it at La Haut.
