From 1935, this grand old lady works well. The cold war leaves it a little down at heal, but the water is spot on, breakfast good. They have a mini bar unlike some chains so there is a fridge in room to cool drinks as well.
Opposite a ministry and it is location, location and location as the Islandic consulate concurs

Totale Katastrophe. Bitte schliesse. Sofort!
Totale Katastrophe!!! Unglaublich verdreckt, Schimmel überall, die "Zimmer" stinken wie die Pest! Extrem laut. Zimmer nicht solide abschliessbar. Einbrecher haben jederzeit Zugang über die Balkone mit undesichrten Fenstetn und Türen. Jetzt der Hammer: am Morgen NULL!!! Wasser!!! Und das bis weit in den Mittag. Niemand benachrichtigt die Gäste oder bringt Wasser in einem solchen Chaos. Auschecken war eigentlich eine Flucht aus der Hölle. Wie kann ein Anbieter so einen Laden überhaupt anbieten. Ich verlange definitiv mein Geld zurück!!!

Hotel super très bien placé
L'hotel est en plein centre ville, l'emplacement est vraiment incroyable. La chambre est super, très propre, rien à redire. Simplement j'ai eu quelques deceptions niveau service. La dame à l'accueil m'a mal indiqué l'endroit du petit-déjeuner, et la dame du petit déjeuner n'était vraiment pas aimable, en plus de ne pas parler anglais. Elle m'a interdit de remplir une bouteille avec l'eau froide du robinet. C'est dommage, ça m'a laissé une mauvaise impression du personnel, sinon tout est parfait !

One of the best NIGHTMARE Hotels. Zero cleaning. In 15 days never changed sheets. The bathroom floor always flooded due to water leaking from the tub and even more disgusting from the toilet, which was not well fixed to the floor. Reported, I was told that it was not possible to change rooms, nor to fix them. Dust and dead insects everywhere. Furniture and carpet dating back to 1935 (year of construction). Very rude staff. Too bad, because it is located in a very central area.

The Slavyanski Beseda has a terrific location in the center of Sophia and is accessible to all of the major attractions. Its reasonable price and helpful staff make it very attractive. It could use an update, is acceptable.
