After a long hot day on motorcycles we were really looking forward to a clean, comfortable room. Unfortunately that is not what we got. The first room we were given had rodent droppings on the bed. We should have left then. I immediately called the front desk and informed them we would need a different room and why. While the desk clerk was finding me a new room, she stated “of course, there will be no charge for the room”. Once settled in a different room we ordered in food after agreeing to carry any leftover food and wrappings to a trash can outside our room to avoid tempting any rodents to visit during the night. After packing up in the morning, I went to the front desk to return the keys. The desk clerk provided me with a copy of the bill showing a room charged to my credit card and a $40 balance. I repeated the conversation from the night before where we were told there would be no charge. The clerk called her manager who said they weren’t charging us for the FIRST room, the one we never used due to the rodent droppings on the bed. Well, I should hope not! The clerk said she would investigate the balance and call us back with a resolution which she did later that day. On my way out, I asked is they were aware that at least 3 of the 4 exterior doors that are supposed to be locked and require a hotel key to enter (labeled as such) were broken, that anyone could walk in easily. Her response - the manager is talking to the owner about that.
