During my trip to Kyoto, I had the pleasure of staying at the Park Hyatt Kyoto and had an unforgettable experience. The hotel's location was very convenient, allowing me to easily visit Kyoto's attractions. The rooms are elegantly decorated with traditional Japanese style, while also offering modern comforts. The beds were soft and comfortable, allowing me to enjoy a sweet sleep every night. The hotel's service staff was friendly and always provided timely help when I needed it. In terms of dining, both the Japanese breakfast and the international dinner were a feast for my taste buds. In addition, the hotel's tranquil environment and well-maintained gardens provided a perfect space for me to relax. In short, the Park Hyatt Kyoto was the highlight of my trip and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends.

We were a group of 6 people staying at the Hotel Mitsui on a trek through Japan. Suffice it to say, that the group was all pleased that we stayed here. Our initial check in process was a bit bumpy (no tea service) as it was clear everyone was checking into the hotel for a holiday weekend. However, within 30 minutes, we were all on our way to our rooms. Overall, the hotel and the rooms are designed in muted tones and a modern zen vibe. Where other hotels would simply have drywall covered with pictures, the Mitsui has clearly thought about every surface. We were in a room that looked out to the central garden, which is beautiful. The room had a nice long marble bench at the entrance which was nice for putting shoes on or setting things down to pack / unpack. Further in the room, there is a bar area, desk area and a nice long padded bench by the window. Controls for the room are near the bed and you can dim lights or raise and lower blinds with ease. The bathroom is a very clever design with two pocket door entrances, offering a closet area, double sink, a wet room with tub and shower and rom for the toilet. The room for the toilet is wide and very peaceful. Of course, it comes with the fancy Toto Neorest toilet that raises and lowers the seat automatically, has a heated seat, has a bidet feature and more. The shower offers both a hand held and a rain head that with a fine spray. Bathroom toiletries are crafted for the Hotel Mitsui. Of course, robes were available (just ask if you need a different size). Let’s talk about sleeping…. The bed was among the most comfortable that I have ever tried (firm, with just the right amount of softness). Down pillows and a duvet complete the scene. And course, should you not like your pillow, there is a pillow menu. The rooms at the Mitsui are quiet with blackout shades. At night, gentle nightlights illuminate the path to the bathroom. In all, the sleep experience is well thought out and devine. One of the stand out features of the hotel would be the Thermal Springs in the basement. The Thermal Springs are a modern version of a traditional Japanese onsen. Access is open to everyone in the hotel, but the number of people permitted in is managed to in more than 14 people at a time. You have to call ahead to make sure there is space, but in our case, we were always able to get in. Anyone who out touring in Kyoto, should make time in their busy schedule to visit the Thermal Springs between their tours and dinner - it is a great way to wash off the city and relax before dinner - very civilized. This review is particularly fun for me as our stay at the Mitsui ultimately caused us to break up with our travel agent. He was SO insistent that we stay at the Ritz , he could not imagine trying something new like the Mitsui (nor was he willing o have his team check it out). In the end, I feel vindicated, we loved our stay at the Mitsui and would happily return

Small hotel a bit far from town but well served by public buses just outside. Room relatively big by Japanese standard. Good AC, hot water and water pressure. Tiny toilet and a small kitchenette. There’s a supermarket, Starbucks and 7-11 nearby. One of the largest Starbucks with a nice decor. Not much eating places around. Small HK restaurant beside run by a HK couple.

The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto, the first luxury urban resort in Japan, sits on the banks of the Kamogawa River, with sweeping views of the famous Higashiyama mountains. This Kyoto, Japan, hotel resort features 134 guest rooms with traditional Japanese motifs, four restaurants, and bars; immerse into modern Japanese cuisine and a spa for the ultimate rejuvenation.

This Ritz-Carlton location sitting on Kamogawa and Hagashiyama mountains, is one of the best locations to stay in Kyoto. The architecture is gorgeous on every level as you enter the hotel. You feel transported to a particular place that you will never forget. In addition, the quality of service the Ladies and Gentlemen provides goes above and beyond any other Ritz-Carlton location. Staying at the Kamogawa Executive Suite was an unforgettable experience. Approximately 1350 sq. ft., the suite provides luxury accommodations that exceed the highest expectations of any guest. The bathroom is gorgeous, especially the bathtub, where the wall and bathtub are decorated with sakura flowers. The bed is comfortable, and the living room is quite spacious. One thing I would have loved to see inside this room is a Genkan to place shoes as you enter the suite. Preserving the floor and rug is necessary and educates foreign guests about the importance of doing this. Another aspect that I loved about this place was Mizuki. Every morning I visited it for a Japanese-style breakfast, and it was a fantastic experience. In addition, I went to one of their sushi demonstrations and felt that I had a lifetime supply of sushi. Every bite was delicious, and the chef went above and beyond to make every guest feel special. Please make reservations for kaiseki, tempura, teppanyaki, and of course, sushi during your stay in advance. The spa is also a must if you are staying in this location. It is one of my most relaxing experiences, and the facilities are excellent. As you enter the spa, all the details regarding the walk to the counter or attendant, the changing room, and the pool area are planned quite well, so the guest can feel extra special and disconnected from reality. Finally, I must recognize the Ladies and Gentlemen's hard work and dedication at the Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto. Thank Ana and Naoto, for your friendly welcome to the hotel and making things possible during my stay. Chef Tomohiro Goda and his team provided an experience I will never forget at Mizuki. Naoki was friendly and helpful as I researched information. Pablo and Thain were attentive to my needs as I left the hotel and provided a great experience as I checked out. Special thanks to Carlos for leading such a fantastic Ritz-Carlton property in Japan and consideration prior to my stay. This is one of the top Ritz-Carlton properties I have stayed in, out of 25 Ritz-Carlton. I will cherish all the memories that I gained from this place and will make sure to come back in the future.

Our stay at Six Sense Kyoto has been, by far, one of the best experiences ever. We travelled as a family of four, with a 9 and 12 year old, and stayed here in July 2024. We loved every thing about the hotel, but I’ll stick to the highlights that left an impression on us: 1. Grow with Six Senses: a children’s club (5 years to 12 years) that is managed by two amazing, high-energy, wonderful, wonderful ladies! Both our girls loved visiting the club and engaging with the instructors. 2. Earth Lab: a lovely little program that is centered around the sustainability theme of the hotel. They have workshops where guests can learn the traditional Japanese art of gift wrapping, Fukushima, or work with natural, plant-derived colors to paint, or try your hands at creating washi paper! Our girls loved these workshops as well! 3. Breakfast at Sekki: as vegetarians and vegans, we usually have very limited options when it comes to food, outside of bread and some sad looking vegetables and fruits. Sekki offered us a lot more and then some! Plenty of vegetarian options, local, fresh fruits, gluten-free bread… it was more than one could possibly want. Their dinner menu too, is extensive, as far as veg and vegan options go. They did not hesitate to modify the menu either, when my daughter wanted a specific type of pasta! 4. The staff: I was saving the most important for the last: the staff. They are the true gems that make the absolute difference! Every EVERY single one of them is very courteous and deeply committed to making your stay one of the best ever. They work hard, with the warmest smiles, to organize your schedules, offer with brilliant recommendations… and doing pretty much everything you could possibly want, so all you need to do is relax and enjoy your stay. Special shout out to Yuko-San, Miku-San, Eiki-San, (front desk), Saki-San, Kaori-San (Grow with Six Senses and Earth Labs), Megumi-San (please ask for her at the spa! She’s bloody brilliant!) I’ve only mentioned the names that I remember, but this is also true of **every** one of the staff that we encountered. The experiences that we encounter in and with a city, is largely influenced by the place of stay. Six Senses Kyoto has made memories of our visit to the city, that much sweeter, and has left us wanting for more. We are coming back. For sure.

Service: The service is very good, with relatively good Chinese service and English introduction, very friendly. Environment: You can enjoy the beautiful scenery and go for a walk near the Kamo River, which is a great feeling, but it will be hot during the day, so it will be better if the air conditioner is turned on. Hygiene: The hygiene is very good and clean. It would be better if the bathroom has a lock. I couldn't find it after searching for a long time. The design of the hotel is small but complete, and it is very simple and comfortable. The beds and sofas are great, and the design of the lights is also very good. There are also picnic mats available. The price is not cheap, but the location is good and the overall cost performance is very high. The breakfast is also a comprehensive Western-style simple meal. The service staff are also very friendly. You can store your luggage for a while and they will help you send it out. If you want to enjoy your vacation, it is worth experiencing. The hotel has a terrace and a garden, and there is a coffee shop next to it. It is not far from the bus st and subway station, and a convenience store is also nearby.

CCarolinHotel was super nice! I loved almost everything. The room was very big for Japanese standards and the staff was very professional and fluent in English. Location couldn’t be better, right next to Kyoto Station and a lot of options for shopping and dining. The only thing that was disappointing was the breakfast. They divide it in a western and japanese breakfast. But the western breakfast didn’t really have much western choices. And the coffee was not good. This could be improved. Otherwise it was a perfect stay and I would recommend it. :-)

독락당The Pocket Hotel offers a no-frills experience at a reasonable price. The room is just large enough to accomodate the futon you are given to sleep on and a little more. For people who need a bed to sleep, I definitely would not recommend this location. That said, I would say the room has everything on might need for a good night's sleep. The air conditioner is perfectly functional, a necessity in Kyoto's sweltering summers. Additionally, the limited space definitely means that accomodating guests with gargantuan suitcases is probably not possible. The washroom, while well furnished and perfectly serviceable, is public and located outside of one's room and is accessed by the same key card as the one used for one's room. In addition, the shower, located on the first floor for men and second for women, is also public use and accessed in the same way as the washroom. That said, the showers are split into individual rooms, so I would suggest one is offered more than sufficient privacy despite its public nature. If these minor inconveniences are unacceptable for you, this hotel is not the right one for you. As for the hotel's location, the hotel is fairly well positioned to go see Kiyomizudera and is a short walk from the subway. In addition, there are a number of great restaurants in the vicinity. In particular, there is a great abundance of ramen restaurants so it could be decent location to stop by to sample a number of different bowls. Between Daikoku Ramen, Ramen Rin, Ramen Yokozuna, Ginjo Ramen Kubota, and New Taihou, I enjoyed my daily dose of noodles for sure. It is also worth noting that there is a convenience store across the street and a pharmacy a little down the street. The pharmacy is a great place to pick up 2L bottles of drinks, but be warned that they might not be refrigerated. It's also worth noting that there is a Yoshinoya, McDonald's, and Yayoi Ken nearby so if you ever feel the need for a quick meal, it can easily me solved at a moment's notice. Overall, I would say this hotel is not one to stay at for the hotel experience, but rather as an option simply have a place to rest with proper privacy.

CCkyankcTitle: An Extraordinary Stay at an Exquisite Kyoto Gem Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) I recently had the pleasure of staying at a truly remarkable hotel in Kyoto, and I can confidently say that my experience was nothing short of excellent. From the moment I stepped foot into this elegant establishment until the day of my departure, every aspect of my stay exceeded my expectations. Nestled in the heart of Kyoto, the hotel's location was simply perfect. It provided easy access to some of the city's most iconic landmarks and cultural attractions, ensuring that I could explore the beauty of Kyoto with utmost convenience. Whether it was the majestic Kinkaku-ji Temple or the serene Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, everything was within reach, allowing me to immerse myself fully in the city's rich heritage. The hotel's architecture and interior design were a true reflection of Kyoto's aesthetic beauty. The moment I entered the lobby, I was greeted by a sense of tranquility and harmony. The attention to detail was impeccable, with traditional Japanese elements seamlessly integrated into the contemporary design. The serene garden views from the common areas only added to the overall charm and provided a peaceful oasis amidst the bustling city. The staff members at the hotel were the epitome of hospitality. From the warm welcome at check-in to the attentive service throughout my stay, they went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. Their genuine smiles and willingness to assist with any request created a welcoming and friendly atmosphere that made me feel right at home. Their knowledge of the local area and recommendations for sightseeing and dining were invaluable, enabling me to make the most of my time in Kyoto. The room I stayed in was a haven of luxury and elegance. Immaculately clean and tastefully decorated, it exuded a sense of serenity that allowed me to unwind after a day of exploration. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the comfortable bedding to the carefully curated amenities.

PParky TengConveniently located not far from the Kyoto station, ALA is quite a new and modern place that provides great accommodation and all the amenities at affordable prices. The room we stayed is more spacious than other similar standard hotels in Japanese cities, with separate shower/bathtub and toilet section. There is spa, gym and conference rooms for both business and leisure travelers. Best of all is the breakfast. We stayed here for four nights and enjoyed a variety of good Japanese, Chinese, Italian, and American meals every morning. The soft-serve ice cream was my most favorite. The staff was very polite and efficient. Room was clean and tidy with new bed linen and towels changed daily although we did not throw off the used one. All in all it is a value-for-money 4 Star Hotel that anyone visiting Kyoto should consider.

Excellent
GGuest UserWe had an excellent stay at this Machiya (traditional Kyoto townhouse) for 3 days. We only did in-room dining one night, but that was also excellent. The check-in process is a little strange, as you will receive communication from the company that's a little dense and will not interact directly with the staff unless you choose to. We had to scan and send our passport photos and fill out a registration card, but that was it. The property is small by European/American standards in the sense that you will need to be careful to avoid damaging (including possibly your own head) things during your stay due to height and luggage weight. There's slippers provided to switch from your walking shoes to walking inside the property and there is an excellent bathtub and washroom with washer. My two cautions - this firm has English speaking employees available during business hours (and an emergency line) but it is geared primarily towards the Japan renter. Be prepared to know Japanese or be willing to take the time to translate certain things via your cell phone/app of your choice to understand how to work the various appliances. As an older building, learning the heating/cooling. The second caution, as an older building sound is an issue. You will hear the street and need to control your volume in order to be a polite guest. If this isn't something you're looking to do, then just throw the money at a more modern hotel experience. We liked it - not everyone will.
