On February 28, 2024, at approximately 11:30PM I checked into the Red Roof Inn in Winchester, VA (Conf #: 630-909382). On exiting the Office and heading to the room the parking area was covered with garbage and trash. I literally had to maneuver around it and there were places where it could not be avoided. Upon reaching the room the lock card did not work and I had to return to the front desk for a new card. On entering the room, room 142, the odor was stifling. It smelled like some kind of acidic air freshener that was so strong it became unbearable. There was no cold water in the lavatory and turning on the shower, there was also little, if any cold water. The water pressure was so minimal that in the shower there was barely even a spray of water. The floor was filthy, (in stepping into the shower there was dirt on my feet from the floor that could be seen on the shower floor). Although I do believe the sheets had been washed, they were stained. After 4 hours in the room, unable to sleep because of the odor, I checked out at 5:00 AM. This is a hotel that over the years I have stayed at many times and was always pleased with the service and the cleanliness. I have not stayed there for several years, only because I did not need to stay near Winchester, VA., but I can assure you, I will certainly never stay there again, and will be very careful deciding if I will stay at any Red Roof! I considered disputing the credit card charge, but I was so tired, and it was so late, I did not go to the front desk to complain, and so I will not do that, but I will let everyone know this is “not” a place to stay in Winchester, VA, regardless of the circumstances.
