I'd been eyeing this hotel for years, and finally, after all that time, I got to stay there.
Overall, I was extremely satisfied. The hotel's service was excellent; all the staff, from top to bottom, were incredibly friendly and made me feel comfortable. I could barely find anything to fault.
The hotel's rose and moonflower walls were blooming beautifully and freely. The birds, squirrels, goats, and koi fish roamed around, all living their lives freely. Combined with the clear stream, stone bridges, and traditional boats of the ancient village, it felt incredibly natural and untouched, truly tranquil and full of Jiangnan charm. It's a rare sanctuary in the middle of a bustling city.
The only minor drawback was that some of the smaller amenities, like the bedding, could use improvement. The quality of the pillows and linens was even inferior to what you'd find in a chain budget hotel, and the towels were a bit old. The shower pressure wasn't great either.
However, despite that, I still highly recommend it! If you come during the off-season, the environment is superb, the location is good, the service is outstanding, and the value for money is incredible.

Last autumn, I visited the Kaiyuan Tang in Ningbo and was thoroughly impressed with the brand. So, with spring in full bloom, I brought my whole family back to the Kaiyuan Tang in Shaoxing. The beautiful spring scenery and the pervasive floral fragrance captivated us; we didn't want to leave. Even my husband, a true hotel connoisseur, kept praising how wonderful it was. I'm incredibly grateful for Kaiyuan's service and their generosity. There's a good reason why I love Kaiyuan, and we'll definitely be back.

The cleanliness of the room and facilities generally met standards and were satisfactory. However, there was a minor issue: the sink was quite low, which wasn't very convenient for taller guests like us. The environment was lovely, truly evoking the old saying 'small bridges, flowing water, and homes.' Staying here put me in a very good mood. The only real problem was the breakfast. It was too monotonous with very limited options. This is something the hotel really needs to address. For example, for hot noodles, you could offer rice vermicelli as an alternative to regular noodles, giving guests more choices. For fried items, you could vary the selection, offering two different kinds. The same goes for steamed buns and dumplings. Having the same meal day after day for several days straight naturally gets boring. Such a nice hotel shouldn't let its breakfast drag down the overall experience.

Staying at the Dahao Kaiyuan Guantang feels like stepping into a picturesque江南 (Jiangnan) painting! The hotel exudes an ancient charm with its white walls, black tiles, flowing water, stone bridges, and high-hanging lanterns – every photo you take looks like a traditional Chinese masterpiece. The waterside rooms offer stunning views right from your window, with traditional Wupeng boats gracefully gliding by, creating an incredible ambiance. The room decor is exquisite, blending ancient elegance with modern comfort. Strolling along the stone-paved paths is incredibly relaxing.
During the May Day holiday, they had a 'Spring Craftsmen' event, which was perfect for families, and the kids had a blast. Our butler, Feifei, provided impeccable service; she was always responsive to our requests and incredibly gentle and thoughtful, making us feel very comfortable. Upon check-out, she even gave us special Shaoxing souvenirs, fermented bean curd and dried mustard greens, which was a very thoughtful touch.

The hotel facilities are a bit old, and some of the detailed cleaning wasn't great. Luckily, the service was quite good; issues were resolved immediately after we reported them. The hotel shuttle is very convenient for getting between phases one and two.

The room was very comfortable, clean, and hygienic. It was so pleasant to sit on the balcony in the morning, listening to the birds and enjoying the garden view. The hotel itself is like a scenic spot, a great place to bring kids. There are activities like intangible cultural heritage handicrafts. It's free from the hustle and bustle of a commercial street, offering only a tranquil and elegant serenity. 😍

It's no surprise this hotel made it into the top 100 worldwide. It's a converted ancient village, nestled at the foot of Kuaiji Mountain, right by the Mausoleum of Yu the Great. We stayed over the May Day holiday, and it was the perfect choice to avoid the crowds. They offer unique experiences like wupeng boat rides, Shaoxing yellow wine tastings, and Yue opera performances, plus plenty of activities for kids. Overall, a very rich and engaging stay!

The hotel's biggest selling point is its superb environment. It's a converted ancient village with traditional residential villas, and the overall landscaping and Chinese courtyard layout are excellent. We stayed in a garden-view villa in the first phase, a duplex, and the room was very spacious. The cleanliness was good, but the facilities are indeed a bit old. Breakfast was generally average, but the Shaoxing cuisine at Yujia Courtyard was absolutely fantastic, far surpassing the two meals we had at restaurants outside. The hotel prices were a bit inflated during the May Day holiday (compared to non-holiday prices on Ctrip), so traveling during off-peak times would likely be a better choice.

The hotel has beautiful scenery, like a small attraction itself. This season, the roses and jasmine are in full bloom, with quaint bridges and flowing water, all very charming – I really loved it. The kids enjoyed watching the lambs and feeding the goldfish.

The hotel is designed, constructed and held by Kaiyuan Tourism Group, winner of "Top 20 China Tourism Group" and "China Service Award".
The hotel is located at the foot of Kuaiji Mountain, adjacent to the Dayu Mausoleum Scenic Area. It used to be the place where the descendants of Dayu's family surnamed Xie lived and thrived, with a history of more than 4,000 years.
The hotel covers an area of 64,100 square meters, with a construction area of 35,200 square meters and has many guest rooms. A Yuling River crosses the hotel, dividing the hotel into east and west banks, one river and two banks, with different styles but harmonious.
The building on the west bank of the hotel is based on the original natural ecological environment of the ancient village. The guest rooms on Pingcheng Street stand along the street, and the Zhenshui Residence and Linshui Residence are spread out along the Yuling River, carefully carved and integrated into the scenery.
The East Coast has a simple and elegant environment. While providing a comfortable stay experience, it also incorporates bright modern style design and leisurely and comfortable natural features. It is like a free space where traditional culture and modern life are harmoniously compatible.
The hotel has created three special catering brands of "Yu's Courtyard", "Yu's Small Kitchen" and "Yu's Noodle House", and has a buffet restaurant "Ruoye Hall", which will take you to taste the beautiful Jiangnan and feel the local customs.
The hotel has a swimming pool, gymnasium, children's playground, and offers various cultural experiences such as Laodizi games and awning boat tours.
Stay in the natural ancient village, immersed in the mountains and trees. Come to Shaoxing, an ancient city in the south of the Yangtze River, and go to Dayu Kaiyuan Guantang to relax and reminisce about traditions.
