Sarge's Hotel

Great value Friendly and helpful staff, really nice people. Great air con in the room. Looked like a lot of improvements were happening while I was there - new wooden sunbeds, improved WiFi. The room was cool and clean. The pool is nice and is perfect on a hot day. An already broken mirror in my room was fixed without me saying anything. Few things wrong in the room - loose shower attachment, loose towel and toilet roll fittings, no main light so it was dark even with the lights on. Mosquitos in the room. WiFi rarely worked in the room. All of that was workable and didn’t really spoil anything for me given the price I paid (although the sporadic internet was annoying). The main issue, and it’s not the fault of the hotel, is the noise that comes from the tourist bars and restaurants. The music is loud and goes on late most nights, making it hard to sleep at a reasonable hour. Bring ear plugs! I kind of got used to it after a while. Overall a great value hotel, clean and safe with lovely staff. I would stay here again.

For the 4th time I stayed in Hotel Sarges. What a disappointment. The staff was very friendly but my old I phone was stolen from my room. Prices for drinks are high Breakfast is unbelievably poor. The room was very clean. Problems in the room like airco, illumination, and a not working safe were promised to be fixed every day but not done. I will never stay there again!

This hotel is an absolute knocking shop, only suitable for older Europeans looking for young gambians to sleep with. If you are booking a Delux room, they will show you a very decent room (furniture, black and white), but when you go there you are given a different room, citing this room does not exist. Three people saw this room, but yet, it does not exist!! The manager, Haddy, is a pathological liar. The deluxe rooms are disgusting, and the room is partially furnished with dilapidated furniture. The bedding and showers are awful. The breakfast is an abomination, the same every day. If you are a lone traveller, the safety is paramount !! I was told my indoor CCTV was making the housekeeping uncomfortable. If they were not doing anything, then why would they feel uncomfortable, do your job, and leave. They were uncomfortable because they knew they were being watched! The whole conversation was recorded with the manager, Haddy, who retracted her comments when she realised I knew the law. I will post the recordings on my Tiktok page to warn others. The 24-hour security is a joke. Many times, they were caught sleeping or no one at the front entrance. One security approached us believing we were arguing, then went back to the lounger to have a sleep, again caught on camera. Photos and videos will be sent to the Gambian Tourism Board. This hotel is based on the ***** that houses some of the most unsavoury characters, who can walk into the hotel at any time of night. She told me that no one is allowed in the rooms unless they are guest, again this was a lie. I witnessed several people coming and going, staying in rooms, and even one of my own security friends who met a European woman was frequently seen going in the room. This hotel is very unsafe and only cares about your money!! Once they get it, you will be treated disrespectfully. The only members of staff who were decent were Ebrima (housekeeper) and the House Keeping Manager, who informed me to keep my camera on for my own safety. Please avoid this hotel. It's not fit for purpose. If you are travelling alone, DO NOT GO HERE! Yes, the location is good, but the service you receive for the money they are charging is below par. The manager, Haddy, does not believe a word that comes out of her mouth. She is a con artiste. - WiFi is bad - location good - cleaning, ok - staff, been around better - rooms, below standard Stayed for 3 weeks and regretted most of it!! Gambia is still a nice place, but be very careful who you deal with. Most are corrupt!!

Beware this hotel rip off ...i booked hotel for 2 weeks it said in my booking pay at hotel by card i got there and thay refued to take my card i went to atm got cash the rooms look like a doss house the cleaner asked me for money i said no then she offered sex i said no thank you ....the place is not nice i advise anyone to avoid

I had a good experience at Sarges Hotel. The location is in the middle of Serekunda, but the hotel is set a bit away from the street so it was quiet. It's within walking distance of the beach and several restaurants, a money exchange, and mini-marts. The rooms were clean, had good A/C, hot water in the shower, and decent Wi-Fi. Staff was great, especially with airport transfers and preparing takeaway breakfasts when I had early departure times. They can also book tours. Security was at the hotel 24/7. I was staying as a solo female and felt very comfortable. I recommend Sarges Hotel to others and would stay there again.
