Hotels Near Å LAND Hongdae in Seoul

The place is very cool and new. Great neighborhood with coffee footsteps away. Only a short 7-10 minute walk to Hongdae Shooping Street area! Love the interior design choices, furniture, fixtures, etc. The place is very minimalists and basic. You need to hang your towels? No hooks or rails in the bathroom. You need to plug in the kettle? No outlet the cord can reach and kettle can sit on table anywhere expect for bathroom. You need to stir your coffee? Nothing to stir but the back of your own brought toothbrush. You want to only have the hanging lamp on? You can’t because of the track lighting design (which I thought was cool at first). View is great! Couch is next level comfortable and cool design. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Only two pillows (things like this is where you see the simplicity of the hotel). I feel the rooms are made to be for future apartments (but lack of electrical in the “kitchen” area throws me off. No food is allowed in the rooms. Lose your key and you have to pay. No cleaning service unless you stay longer than 7 days (then you get one time free). Cool place overall, but things feel a bit off after you’re here for a night and you miss the normal hotel amenities.

Great Hotel for solo travel both for business and pleasure. If you are a minimalist traveler like me who usually needs a modern and clean hotel for sleep, but like to eat out and be in the center of all the action Shilla Stays is the perfect hotel.

Great value for its price point: relatively easy contactless check-in. A new and spacious apartment hotel equipped with modern appliances (including an LG styler cupboard for freshening or steam cleaning/ironing coats and suits). Steps from National Assembly Station that links to Gimpo and Incheon airport, or board the airport bus from there. Walking distance to Yeouido Hangang Park, 20 mins subway ride to Gangnam and Hongik Univ. Hongdae. Having said that, a few more things could have made it a more comfortable apartment hotel: include starter packs of dishwashing soap, dish wipe and laundry detergent instead of making guests have to buy these from reception (otherwise, it can't credibly offer apartment service). Lack of in-room dining space or chair for more than 1 person (it was either eat at the work desk or the floor). We also emailed the hotel with a query on advance luggage storage and a request to be given a room away from the ongoing construction site but our email query and room request were ignored. Hopefully hotel communications with guests could be improved.

So convenient, merat to subway and train station. They have washer and dryer in the room. Sauna is very nice too. When I’m in Seoul, I always choose this hotel.

Booked this for the marathon as it was within jogging distance to the start line. No frills option but good access to restaurants and fairly close to the City Hall subway station. Toilet would be my main complaint as it was really small with the shower head attached to the tap. There was literally little standing space and the toilet seat would get wet after a shower! 😄

The hotel was great for my friend and I. We traveled to Seoul to see some light festivals before going to Busan for a New Year's countdown. The location was perfect.

Amazing location to walk everywhere, if you come for tourism. The room is simple, has everything needed, it’s a bit small, but manageable. At 10 pm they close the air conditioner, but as we went during April/May it was not a problem.

Booked this for family. Great location and pretty nice service. Simple and friendly staff. Coffee machines are available in the lobby with an ice machine. I think if there is an option for hot water for tea will be great!

The hotel is situated in the Myeongdong shopping district but it is not right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. It sits just outside of the main shopping/night market area so it is not noisy at all. There is a 7-Eleven at the hotel basement so you can get all your toiletries and snacks there. The hotel does not provide dental kits so be sure to bring your own or buy from the convenience store downstairs. Hotel staff can speak English and one lady in particular speaks Mandarin and English. She was very helpful and friendly. Another staff helped to arrange our two rooms on the same floor when he realised that one of the rooms wasn’t ready and was on another floor. We had a triple room which is quite spacious considering most rooms in Myeongdong hotels are rather small and you can barely open up your luggage. Our room has space for our 3 pieces of luggage in front of the beds. The room is big enough to accommodate two lounge chairs and a coffee table. The bathroom has a bathtub and the toilet has a bidet so it makes up for the dated look of the whole room. We had some of our meals in the restaurants just across the road from the hotel and they serve nice Korean cuisine. The Euljiro 1-ga station is just a few minutes’ walk away. We really like the location of the hotel even though the room is a bit dated, especially the bathroom.

The Good Great location. Great location to enjoy Myeongdong street. Night market of Myeongdong is so lively and beautiful and unique experience for Seoul trip. Obviously it feels much safer to stay at hotel nearby. As for hotel, they got nice wine shop at first floor. Their lobby located on low floor and not 1st floor. Although, there is guardman on 1st floor who seems to be reliable. Roof top bar is also in good prices unlike usual ”hotel price”. I stayed at ”low bed” room which seems to be unusual for Korea. It was comfortable and that different experience was fun. The BEST Staff are amazing. I personally think Shilla are in line of Lotte's rivary. (two of top Korean hotel brands) Staffs at this hotel were so amazing. They seemed to have great balance with character. I've seen staff who are sweet and very friendly. While I've also seen staff with sharp and precise manner. Shila staff are professional with more ”trained” manner. Very polite. I have no complain but the friendliness is always more welcome for me. The lady at rooftop bar was a goddess. Not only she was beautiful(excuse me). Her works were very well oriented and professional. Constantly eye checking on the floor, checkin on guests condition and making sure everything is all right, a friendly communication with foreign kids. It was past 11pm and they were about to close if I remember correctly. Unless a five star luxury hotel, at this time of the business, staff are chatting, ready to set free from work. No, not at all. They acted as if they just opened the bar. I really felt strange. The Bad Breakfast is operated by a tenant restaurant. So totally different experience. It kinda breaks the whole experience of hotel and basically, it's tenant restaurant so they won't treat you like hotel guest. They are polite but can't response anything to do with hotel. If you've travelled Korea or Seould before, I beleive there are no stress. but if you are first timer, there could be more helpful service for foreigner, easier access, easier location etc. There are so many different hotels in Myeongdong so I can't give comparison. Although, it's Korean brand and I believe it worth a stay.
