I didn't expect it to be like a family dormitory. The accommodation conditions are very poor, and the dog 🐶 runs around and barks in the hall. The so-called hot spring is not usable at all. In short, it can be described as dirty and messy.

Overall it is good, the location for watching the Northern Lights is good, but if there is no Northern Lights, it is not good enough for the price, the floor of the shower room is slippery and not cleaned. The bedding is very bad, the sheets and quilts are wrinkled.

Our family of three adult couples spent three nights here. The location allows for access to the southern part of the island while still being close to a city (Selfoss). It’s in a remote area that is quite beautiful. Most of Iceland is devoid of trees but the father of the owner has planted 100,000 of them on the property over the past 50 years and the baby forest is amazing. The hotel has a lovely dining area where a delicious and varied organic breakfast is included with the room. Dinner is served as well for an extra cost and we had it one evening—the bread, salmon, lamb, and brownie were delicious. The dining area offers fantastic sunrise views in the morning. There are about 1-2 dozen rooms all facing a long corridor that serves as a living room. I was worried about possible noise from other guests but it was very quiet at night. The rooms are lovely with gorgeous views. Bathroom is large and nice. Each room has a small patio and direct access to the outside. The spa is next to the hotel and has an outdoor pool kept at about 35 C (95 F), indoor pool that is much hotter (like 104 F), and two hot tubs on a hill with good views but they are not hot. We couldn’t really stay in them long and I’d estimate them to be about 90 F. The water for all three is from geothermal springs and they have two posters highlighting the info about them and their specific mineral content. They are full of minerals—the water is not dirty. It is renewed almost daily and tested by the authorities. Some of the negative reviews here are just ignorant. There is also a sauna that fits 6-8 people and gets super hot (180+ F). We really enjoyed the amenities. The only thing I disliked was not being able to control the room’s ventilation system or heating. It’s hotel wide and controlled by the owners. You can open a window to cool the room though. The owner Anna is very warm and welcoming. She allowed us to visit her horses and gave us bread to feed them. The two hotel dogs are also adorable and we enjoyed their sweet behavior like joining us for walks around the property. I would absolutely stay here again if we returned to the area.

What an extraordinary little hotel. Situated about a 10 minute drive from the town of Slefoss, it sits on a beautiful, stark landscape. The elegant, industrial style decor is just fantastic. They also have two older dogs which are delightful and always down for some petting! The owners are a wonderful couple who have painstakenly built this property on family land. Olafur even fixed the sole of my hiking boot that came undone after two days hiking in downpours. The food is out of this world and breakfast plentiful and so fresh. There is an indoor and outdoor hotspring feed pool which was so great after wet days outside. We were sad to hear that they are retiring soon and selling to someone who will further build onto the hotel on this property

This was our last stop on our Iceland trip. Anna was very attentive and welcoming. Felt like we were guest at their home. Food was excellent tasty and fresh. We were 3 couples and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Location was perfect for our day trips. Views were amazing.

This is my favorite hotel in Iceland. It’s so beautiful. The owners are great. There are two dogs here that are incredibly friendly and the view and surroundings are exquisite; perfect for walking and hiking. Breakfast and dinner were utterly delicious. I couldn’t be happier than I am right now on a vacation.

Nice rooms, very good, sufficient breakfast, hospitable, helpful owners, quiet, good views. Could be kept up better in thermal area and area around hotel had some things lying around but maybe temporary. Overall a good place to stay but maybe not at the price

We stayed here our first night in Iceland and it was perfect. Is it expensive? Yes, but in my opinion, very worth the money. The bed was comfortable, restaurant was great and the thermal pools/hot tub were the perfect cure for jet lag. The two dogs were awesome. One greeted us as we arrived and followed us into our room. The other one kept shepherding all of us around the table at breakfast! Very sweet, friendly pups. The thermal pools and hot tub were nice and hot. They do have some natural algae floating around and were a little slippery but so nice to soak in after a long day of travel.

Such a beautiful, small boutique hotel. The rooms were so comfortable and large. Enjoyed the thermal baths, relaxing and quiet surroundings, amazing breakfast and dinner was over the top. Nice to interact with other guests and the owners dogs are always there to welcome you too. Highly recommend staying a minimum of 2-nights to enjoy the accommodations. Great base of operation for day trips to surrounding area.
