Executive Summary: Meh. The Positives: The room was mostly fine, the beds clean and comfortable with no smells. The warm water could be turned up pretty hot. The Could-Have-Been-Betters: Although we mentioned to the phone reservation person that we had a very small dog, that didn't seem to be passed along to the on-site staff. We were walking the dog after we checked in and the desk clerk came out to claim that we didn't tell him we had a dog. We said we told the reservation person and he said it would be an extra $20. He also mentioned something about people with dogs get rooms on the basement floor. So, I suppose we were given a room too good for us because of our supposedly hidden 5 lb dog? Then later when I made a trip out to the car to retrieve an item, a different desk clerk asked if I was in Room XXX. I said yes, and she presented a form to sign asking details about the dog and us, stating the $20 fee, and a whole page of boilerplate clauses which I didn't read. I reckon that if he had barked, we would have had to buy the hotel or something. What's strange is that while they seemed to really focus in on a purse sized pooch, cases of empty beer bottles were strewn around the side entrance and back of the hotel. Apparently small dogs are a much bigger problem than copious amounts of litter on the grounds. All in all, we felt a bit unwelcomed due to the intense scrutiny of the dog while there seemed to be little concern for trash outside. Other reviews mentioned a smell from the livestock pasture next door. We didn't find that to be an issue, no smell. Maybe the wind was blowing towards it instead of from it. The breakfast really could have been better. The sausage patties and scrambles eggs were fine. But the biscuits and english muffins seemed to be from the day-old thrift store. No butter could be found for breads or waffles. If you wanted peanut butter or cream cheese spread as well as butter on your bagel, forget about it. And the orange juice may have had an orange in it within the last month or so, but it was just pale water. I did not try the apple juice or cranberry juice. Security? Wasn't an issue for us, but the side door was propped open with a brick and there was no lock on the inner entrance door. Anyone off the parking lot could just walk into the hallway. I'm sure that's not a problem though, because they might have a dog and that would surely come under observation. You need a place to sleep, don't have a pet, and are going to leave before breakfast, then this place will do. Otherwise...
