Bagden Hall Hotel

This place is absolutely beautiful and stunning. On arrival we were overwhelmed with the fabulous grounds and elaborate interior. We were welcomed immediately by a really professional, classy, efficient manager on reception, who checked all our details for the afternoon tea were correct and showed us to our table. She was brilliant. The bar staff were so friendly, fabulous and could not do enough for us. The welcome was just so warm, inviting and special, by everyone. The room where you have the afternoon tea is just so lovely. The staff are so attentive and cannot do enough for you. The afternoon tea was totally amazing and I am a very fussy eater but they adapted their menu for me and I was so happy. It was perfect! The chocolate brownies are the best I have ever had! The food was just delicious and such good quality and the strawberries, chocolate and Champagne were the icing on the cake! It really was like a Fairytale afternoon and we felt so spoilt and so special. It was completely and totally Exquisite! We all left extremely happy and felt like Royalty and I honestly cannot say I have ever had an experience like that. A special thankyou to the wonderful lady manager and her amazing staff for such a beautiful, relaxing and magical experience. You are all a credit to Bagden Hall and we will definitely be back! Thanks again!

This hotel is in a beautiful location. We stayed outside of the hotel in lakeside rooms and the view was lovely. We had a delicious three course evening meal and the service was superb. Our breakfasts were good and again received superb service. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

On!y one word 'comforting'! Loved our stay, like being wrapped in a warm blanket! After living in Maine, USA for 18 years and staying at soul less hotels it was a breath of fresh air to stay at this charming hotel. Loved the older fixtures, if a !little dated, super clean. Lovely large room, quiet location, great amenities. Eat in the bar, lovely bartender, small bar menu but adequate as did not want a full menu. Husband said the best chips he ever had! Wonderful breakfast. All staff we interacted with were super friendly and helpful. Great service. We are back in December (weather permitting) to celebrate husband's 80th birthday....can't wait. Thank you for a relaxing stay

We went as a party of eight for afternoon tea. Four of us had gift vouchers and we paid for four. Pluses - the afternoon tea tasted really good. Lovely sandwiches and sausage rolls, homemade cakes etc. However, this was badly let down by the service we received. Our server was polite. However, afternoon tea took one hour to arrive - and during that time not one person asked if we wanted more tea and coffee or asked if we wanted drinks, which had all gone due to waiting so long. We asked for a jug of water that never arrived and there were no staff to be seen. When they brought our food, I asked again and then half way through eating we were brought a pot of hot water along with more tea and coffee that I had to proactively ask for. I'd given up by this point. Drinks went quickly and if you wanted anything you had to try and catch someone's attention. I understand food can take time, but we were all left gasping. When ready to leave I had to go to Reception to ask for the bill and boxes as again nobody to be seen. It was boxed but no bill brought. In the end we went back to Reception to ask to pay. No bill was given just an amount - I then had to ask if a service charge had been added as signs say it is automatic. We eat out regularly and I don't think we have ever planned to ask for it to be removed but today I would have as the service was so poor. Not once during the whole 2.5 hours were we there did anyone check if things were OK, see if we wanted more drinks etc - and I could see into Reception where staff were chatting. There's lots of places you can get a tasty afternoon tea - service is an important part of the experience and we were all really disappointed today. Really marred a gift experience where we'd added more people and paid.

Attended a wedding recently and what a superb setting. Our overnight stay was good with a very enjoyable freshly cooked full English breakfast. The entire staff on duty over our two days were superb and nothing was too much trouble and our dietary needs, gluten free were expertly catered for. Our room was comfortable, if a little tired, but did not distract from the enjoyment of the occasion.

We stayed in room 3 for two nights, a large, comfortable room with views over the well maintained gardens. Hotel sits in extensive grounds including pond fountain and folly. Staff very friendly, nothing was to much trouble. Had an evening meal in restaurant both nights and could not fault them.

We booked the room around 6 months ago due to a friends wedding taking place here, We booked a lakeside room thinking we would see a lovely lake but unfortunately that wasn’t the case , £115 a night and was very disappointed, the room was dirty, we did go to reception and say we wasn’t happy with the room but unfortunately due to busy times the alternate room they offered wasn’t any better than the one we paid for. Food was ok, but these pictures will speak for them selfs of how dirty itis.

My husband and I had a two night break staying in the Cuttlehurst suite and from check in to checkout everything was perfect. Marisa was always smiling and she couldn’t do enough to make sure our stay was all we could wish for. The suite was large, spotless and very comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The dining room was beautifully set out with the tables having white tablecloths and the food was delicious. The chef provided me with gluten free meals always adapted from the a la carte menu. Thank you to everyone and we will definitely return in the future.

My husband and I booked Bagden Hall to stay on the night of our wedding reception, which was taking place elsewhere. Despite booking the hotel 6 months in advance and making a note on the booking about it being our wedding reception, I received a call at 8:15 am on the day of our reception to say that I couldn’t be seen at Bagden Hall in my wedding dress (due to a wedding taking place on that date). They even suggested that if I were to come back to the hotel after my reception and have a drink in the bar, I would need to change out of my dress immediately. Whilst the stay itself was fine and staff on-site were nice, this last minute phone call really put a dampener on our day and caused unnecessary stress. Due to Bagden Hall being so disorganised, I cannot recommend that anyone books to stay at this hotel for any special occasions. Having read further reviews, it looks like this has happened on multiple occasions to other couples and so Bagden Hall really must improve their communication.
