I've stayed here 12 nights over the past couple of months. The hotel is cute and in an easy location with low traffic. The rooms are a little small (it's a renovated historical hotel), but they are charming, clean, and comfortable. There are no microwaves, but there is a fridge in the deluxe rooms. What the room lacks in space is made up by the customer service of the staff. The customer service makes this place a 5-star stay. The staff are helping and welcoming. They upgraded my room each of my stays and recognized me as a diamond member. The upgraded rooms were much appreciated as they have a little more space. The Great Hall Bar with an outdoor terrace is nice with delicious creative drinks and diamond members were able to get about one free drink a day with the $15 credit. I sat out there every evening and enjoyed the outside air. Free ample parking is available. Housekeeping cleaned everyday. What I was most astonished about was the employees' abilities to handle issues in the moment effectively. The morning I was set to check out was the day after the crowdstrike technology outage. Their computers were down and they did everything by hand. I was supposed to be emailed a bill eventually. I figured it would take days. Less than 24 hours later, I had a bill in my inbox and there were no errors. Also, the staff effectively managed a lot of angry customers with kindness. You go here to stay for atmosphere, experience, and excellent customer service! I've already stayed here twice and I know I will again!

Hilton did an nice job modernizing this hotel which appears to have been built 50 yrs or more ago. We stayed in main building, and room was small by American standards but very comfortable. Beautiful views of the city on the hills outside the hotel, and a very nice breakfast omelet. Only disappointment was lack of a coffee machine in the room, as we like to get our first cup of coffee before getting dressed, but that was fixed by buying a $26 coffee machine at the Walgreen's across the street.

The Hotel Saranac was beautifully renovated in 2018. I love staying in Hilton Curios and love historic hotels but you actually never know what you will get. This hotel has lovely public rooms. The second floor Great Hall is beautiful with many sitting areas, a fireplace and bar. We enjoyed sitting outside the room on the terrace with the fire tables. We met several interesting people there and enjoyed their company. We also ate at the first floor bar/testaurant. The hotel has a daily happy hour. Our room was very nice. We had read that the double queen room was larger so we did book that. A few guests mentioned that their king room was quite small. We only stayed 2 nights and our room was never serviced. They apologized and did quickly bring us clean towels and collect the used ones when we called. They have coffee and tea in a lobby room across from the desk. Saranac Lake is a charming town. We enjoyed breakfast at the Blue Moon Cafe down the street. It was a short drive into Lake Placid

I have never felt so welcomed at a hotel before! Beginning with the pre arrival emails followed up by text messages from Katie and Susan welcoming me and answering all of my questions, they were superb! The history and elegance behind the hotel is timeless and it has been restored beautifully. I enjoyed the extensive and impeccably clean health club, as well as dined in Campfire Grill several times with the ever hospitable Jaime. It was a pleasure to eat there and people watch with our window side table. The Great Hall Bar is also filled with nostalgia and bartenders that are proud of their property and it shows! The cocktail list is extensive and the very large room seems intimate with the fireplace and games. Madison was an expert at her craft serving up delicious cocktails. The hotel is perfectly located on the center of town and I enjoyed 2 days of walking the Riverwalk, & Rail Trail which is a true gem and it’s paved! The preserved carousel is simply joyful and the volunteer staff amazing and so proud of their town and they should be. The merchantile across the street is a gem with so many local producers as well and an extensive line of so many other things you could need. Hotel Saranac we will be back!

This hotel is a gem. Beautifully restored and the service is outstanding. We noted that we planned to stay for an anniversary and the front desk sent up sparkling water and a cheese and fruit tray. What a nice surprise! We got an upgrade to a king suite and discovered the elevator shaft was situated next to our room. Surprisingly it wasn’t disruptive. We had a view of the lake. The best discovery was the Great Hall Bar on the second floor. The entire hall is a recreation of a hall from Florence Italy. It is stunning. And the cocktails were fantastic (try the Hot Sara). This experience was better than a hotel we came from that was twice as expensive. The only downside is that there isn’t much to do in town but that’s all the more reason to hang out at the bar.

This is a historic property than has been beautifully renovated. We had a lovely corner room with three windows. Windows can be opened for fresh air. Bathroom is a tad small by modern standards, but perfectly adequate. Nice modern tiled shower, everything works, very clean. Room was in tip top shape. Free robe for use. The restaurant was good, seemed busy. On the 2nd floor is a terrific great hall, with bar, lounge area, walk out terrace, fire place. Also had a game table something like table top shuffle board. Free parking. Spa area downstairs. beautiful wood panelled ball room. The village itself was very nice, much quieter than lake placid, but still ample shops, services, restaurants.

We loved our stay at Hotel Saranac! The attention to detail in the renovation and design style is beautiful. Our standard king was small, not a deal breaker, but next visit (and we will be back!) I’d splurge on the larger king room. The staff were all genuinely friendly from the housekeepers to the managers. The great hall was a nice place to hang out in wether you were sipping tea or coffee or ordering a mixed drink. Hotel Saranac is right in the hub of the charming town of Lake Saranac. Plenty of quaint coffee shops, restaurants, art galleries and even a river walk to explore. If you like vintage/trendy vibes this is the place for you!

Stayed here for the 2nd time this year and was pleased that the room was much larger than before. Although I think all the bathrooms are tiny. Staff were very accommodating giving us an early check-in and late check-out…although hotel was not at all busy. Solid comfortable bed with clean linens. However, room was not the cleanest. Shower wall was stained with mildew. A little worn in places, but what do you expect in an older hotel. Had drinks in the lounge…nice selection of craft beers, wines, and fun cocktails…but a bit pricey. It seems to get busy on weekend nights. Only wish they had a waitress as you have to slug up to the bar for drinks. Very often just 1 bartender who cannot keep up. Breakfast was good, as usual. Nothing spectacular, just a good solid fare. Will stay here again as I travel through on business quite often. Also, much less expensive than Placid.

We stayed at the Saranac Hotel for the weekend and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel has a lot to offer and is historic yet quaint. The rooms have been renovated to suit the modern taste yet the hotel held on to some historic features. We stayed in a king room which was a good size with a large bathroom. There was a small chair with a side table to relax in the room. My only recommendation is that one more chair is included in the room for more than 1 person to sit and enjoy. The Great Hall Bar is beautiful with old beams and gorgeous fixtures. The bartenders were busy and still worked hard to please all of the patrons. We found that all of the hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.
