Sanremo Stay: Luxe Hotel Amid Mediocre Surrounding
The hotel, particularly its pool area, was notably beautiful. However, we faced some issues, such as the poorly functioning AC on the second floor, though the family room's AC on the fourth floor worked perfectly. Disappointingly, no additional beds were allowed in the standard rooms, despite there being enough space. The locale was far from matching the hotel's quality - the nearby beach was simply unacceptable. A wave breaker prevented access to deeper waters, compelling us to spend most of our time at the hotel and its pool area. Another point of frustration was the hotel's practice of charging an €8 service fee every time an order was placed, even for a 50cl water bottle that was also priced at €8. This was not just expensive, but also felt rather miserly. The service quality was no better than any other 4 or 5-star hotel we've visited. Moreover, the €250 fee for poolside sun loungers - even if they did include a bottle of champagne - was embarrassing. To sum up, while the hotel was visually appealing, it felt out of place in Sanremo. For the same cost, one could enjoy 4-5 star accommodations on the French side where the beaches and surroundings are considerably superior.
