Our Habitas Atacama

We spent five enjoyable nights in Our Haibitas, San Pedro de Atacama. Our room was huge, with plenty of space for our suitcases, large bathroom and a good bed. We missed a coffee machine or kettle in the room plus a few hungers on the walls. There are so many empty walls that hungers would facilitate the guests. We enjoyed the outdoor shower too although was winter time. Lovely swimming pool was not heated so even we tried to enter around 14:00 o clock the water was freezing! Breakfast was good and the two mornings we had it at the hotel was super calm because most of the guests leave earlier for excursions. For the days we had excursions leaving early morning, the hotel was preparing a take-away breakfast bag for us. We loved the cereal bar which looked home made. We had the stargazing session one of the evenings without extra fees. It was offered by the hotel to its guests. We enjoyed it a lot! Pity, I cannot recall the name of the person who gave the session (we've been told was half German). He explained everything clearly and shared his knowledge. In another location during our holidays we needed to pay for a stargazing and the session was not at all good! This one, at Our Habitas, given by this man was amazing! We didn't have any dinners or lunches at the hotel so I can comment. There are so many nice restaurants in the city so we didn't have the chance to try the one of the hotel. Upon checking, in the receptionist tried to convince us to be charged 250 dollars as a credit for any services we may use at the hotel while staying there. And that this charge would be a value for money for us rather than getting charged afterwards individually for any service provided from the hotel. She explained us that if we wouldn't get this offer, it would be more expensive afterwards to be charged individually for any service because we would have the addition of taxes. This 250 dollars would be refunded if we wouldn't use them of course, but don't forget it's the exchange rate also with your home country currency and you will never receive the exact amount back. Ourselves, we didn't take this offer by the hotel and in my opinion it was not needed if you don't plan to eat at the hotel or have a massage etc. We didn't use any of these so we did well for not getting it. Last, I would like to comment on the location of the hotel which is a ten mins walk from city centre. Yes, the road is gravel and dusty and you have to walk it all, receiving dust from the passing cars. In the late afternoon they spray the road with water for reducing the dust. Its not that a big deal but sometimes you get annoyed. It's everywhere the roads like these though. The difference with staying at the city center is that the speed limit there is lower and the cars don't create dust, where Our Habitas is located a bit on the outskirts and cars move faster. Overall a beautiful and memorable stay! We enjoyed it a lot and would stay there again when in the region. San Pedro de

On the outskirts of San Pedro. They have a coach which will take you and to the town. They have a whatsapp number you can message to book this as well as ask for anything else. The room was lovely. You have to understand in San Pedro that they just do not have high rise buildings and the buildings are simple in design. The hotel was very comfortable. We had a lovely bathroom and an outdoor shower which was a treat! My advice is to enforce a no shoe policy in the room as it will soon get dusty from your shoes if you don't! We had a little outside area which was peaceful and nice to see some nature. The gym is not well equipped - the machines were not plugged in. They only had 2 x 5kg dumbbells. A good chance to do some weights! The pools were nice enough and the hot tub nice but did not have bubbles in the one we went into. They have trips available to book but we did not go on these. Breakfast was ok - an ok selection of items and no a la carte. Our only annoyance was when purchasing a drink from the bar they would not add it on to the room bill and you had to pay for it there and then. It just means we would have been charged a few times for the foreign transaction fee. We have never seen this practice before anywhere else in the world.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights 17/11-22/11 . The good: The setting is stunning . The complimentary transfers were very welcome and driver Jaqueim very friendly . The hotel itself is a beautiful resort . It was strange at first as all the other hotel guests seemed much much older 60+ so coming down for breakfast had a “care home vibe” which took us aback as we were a good few decades younger than all the other guests but we went with it and the breakfasts were enjoyable and the other guests lovely. Similarly the staff were very kind and helpful . The breakfast had a good variety of buffet and a la carte eggs like omelettes and eggs Benedict’s etc which were delicious. Rosario the guest relations manager , was around to greet people and ensure they were being looked after well by the team . The spa - it needs to be booked for an hour slot but get private use of the sauna and steam rooms The food and drink is excellent in the main restaurant with the menu changing daily. The standard is high , it is like a gastro pub/fine dining . There was a BBQ on Tuesdays which was also delicious albeit quite windy . We stayed on a B&B basis as we tended not to have lunch rather have a hearty breakfast . And the dinners were good value and great quality and cheaper than an equivalent fine dining restaurant in London so we were happy to pay for meals separately. There is a shuttle to the San Pedro town which has some restaurants too but felt food much better in hotel and well priced for the quality which was excellent. The San Pedro town has a church but seemed full of touristy orientated shops The tours - the tours were excellent . We would have liked some “more adventurous” tours with more walking but I guess as the demographic seems to be “older generation” travellers there was less walking. We did however do all their “adventure trips” and really enjoyed them - the vlama/devils throat, juana trek and cactus hike were the highlights - special shout to the guide Catalina who was very knowledgeable and helped us learn about all the wild animals we encountered on the tours - the different types of flamingoes, vicunias , and ostriches . The tours are very well organised and the guide we had Catalina was truly an asset to the hotel. Big thanks to her! Lovely bar area - the bar area and food is really nice and there is a fire which was pleasant to sit on the cooler evenings The hotel provides each guest with a metal water flask which is a nice touch . There is also a station in reception where can refill water bottles and take nuts and sweets for the trips to take in backpack which was a good idea Star gazing - the sky is so clear in the desert and the 1hr star gazing guide at the hotels observation deck was a very informative experience seeing the rings of Saturn so clearly and shooting stars etc Things to be aware of/what could be improved: - maybe the resort is catered for the older demographics but it is a pity a hotel
