The hotel is very good. There is breakfast, which is basically the same every day, with sufficient quantity and variety. There's fruit, milk, yogurt, coffee, oatmeal, waffles, bread, eggs, bacon and more. There is a public washing machine and dryer on the first floor, which is very convenient. The room has a kitchen, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. There is a sofa bed where the children can sleep, and the whole family can be together, like a warm home. We stayed here for 2 weeks. We will stay here again when we come to summer camp during the summer vacation. Recommended

Very good, much better than a family hotel. I started thinking about staying in a family, but after comparison, the environment of this home-style hotel is better, more convenient in all aspects, and the price is not high.

It should be a crime for them to say that the sofa bed is a sofa “bed”. The mattress itself is about 4 inches thick and there is maybe 1 inch of padding that is most likely within the springs themselves. You can feel every single metal spring. There is no comfort, it feels like you are laying on a thin blanket that is on top of a metal crate. Screw these chain hotels that treat people like sub human. It’s more comfy to sleep in my car.

This is by far the worst Marriott brand hotel I have ever stayed at. I wish I would have done more research. The noise is unbearable, the freeway and street noise are so loud I barely slept the two nights I was there. The people above us made a tremendous amount of noise, it sounded like a herd of elephants and you can hear other doors shutting, too late now to be fixed. The road noise is by far the worst though. Unless you have hearing issues, take sleeping pills, or are truly a person who sleeps like they are dead I do not see how one can sleep. I consider myself a heavy sleeper. At home I don’t hear my spouse get up or our pets walking around at night but between the freeway and a/c it was impossible to get a decent night of sleep. The room is gross. This is a pet friendly hotel and it is evident. The couch was gross and smelled of unbathed dogs. There is a musty smell and they offer to spray with a perfume like substance and that too is gross. They don’t offer housekeeping daily. Why would you not clean daily if you accommodate pets?? As a pet owner, who does not take my pet to hotels, I vacuum daily and they need to do the same. The bed area is so tiny that you have about a foot between you and the wall depending on what side you sleep on. The sink area lighting is inadequate so if you’re a makeup wearer bring your own lighted mirror. I did not use any part of the kitchen based on the lack of cleaning of the rest of the room, I didn’t want to clean up dishes left not very clean from previous guests. I did have the breakfast downstairs, nothing great but also not horrible. However at 7:15 am on a Saturday they told me they were out of napkins and I could grab the paper towel from the hotel bathroom if I wanted. No thanks, how about some better planning as it is the weekend and surely someone must have noticed the night before they were almost out. Also better get down there early because they shut one of the doors of the food area a bit before the end time and don’t seem to care if they are running out of items. Another family member was staying there too, she asked for luggage rack and they told her it was by request. My room had one. She also had requested a certain type of pillow due to allergies. When she asked the front desk they said it was a request and that they could not accommodate as they had no more of that pillow type available. Not in the nicest manner either. They charge $5 a night for parking. There is no security provided for this fee. Just a way to nickel and dime. I have less of a problem paying $70 for a spot when I use a hotel in a major city. I understand that but not in San Marcos in an apartment/industrial neighborhood a stones throw from a freeway.

Can’t really recommend. First room, on 4th floor didn’t work well for me. Very noisy air conditioning and traffic noise was incredible. I asked to change rooms and lady at front desk said she didn’t have any other rooms. Went back later in the day and man behind desk was much more accommodating and gave us another room. When we moved to the new room, first thing we noticed was the smell…like a sewer. The room was on the first floor facing Las Posas, super noisy. Also, the remote control curtains did not work. Maintenance (nice guy) came and poured something down the drains that helped the smell, but he couldn’t fix the curtains. We went to Target and bought some wax ear plugs and managed to tolerate the rest of a week long stay. Location was great, but I will stay somewhere else next time.

Request a room on the 3rd floor, I know it's a residence inn but the occupants above sounded like they were jumping up and down. The appliances were filthy dirty.***Wash all dishes before you use them. One of the plates had dried egg on it and a glass had lipstick on it. I'm not sure if there was a dog in the room but we got bitten around our ankles. One of the dispensers was empty in the shower, I told the manager about it was never refilled.

Stayed for a soccer tournament. Worst hotel. would NOT recommend. in our first room the AC was broken and we found multiple cockroaches there. then, we got moved into another room and there were spiders. plus, the staff was not very kind and one of the ladies there was very ruder and snotty.

It looks like I haven’t had luck on my recent stays at Marriott properties even if I’m a Titanium Elite. Had a reservation at Residence Inn San Marcos last January 7th-8th. Tried to check in at 230PM but the room was not ready yet so told the front desk we will be back but it will be a late check in already as we were going to the hospital to visit our sick family member. We arrived at the hotel around 1120PM and checked in. Patrick, the front desk person checked us in but he did not recognize my titanium membership at all. I asked him what type of room was provided and he told me he cant say due to privacy thing. I wondered why he wouldnt tell me as there was no one there except me and my fam. I was not even asking the room number but room type if I was upgraded or not. When I explained what I wanted to know he said it waa 2 beds in the room. We went to the assigned room, 415, we noticed on the door that it was an accessible room as there was a sign for disabled and hearing impaired. We entered the room and it was spacious but not 2 beds as there was only a king sized bed and sofa bed. That was fine however there was a loud noisy banging noise inside the room and the room was vibrating too which was not good for sleeping. Also the door on the sink was broken and the scrub on the sink was dirty (see attached pictures). I did call the front desk and asked first about the room type and told him there was only one bed and he told me the 2nd bed was sofa bed. So that was ok. Then I reported the loud sound and the vibration and asked if we can be moved to a different room as clearly we wont be able to sleep on such conditions. So he checked and told me right away that we can just cancel the room and find another hotel and he wont charge us no fees or there is an available room but on a higher type level but we need to pay additional $100 to move. I told him I was a Titanium elite and that the room is defective thus he should offer to move us on another room without any fees as it is the hotel’s fault. I asked him if there were other rooms even if not a suite or a downgrade, one where we can just sleep as we were already tired and stressed but he clearly told me none and that we need to pay extra $100 so he can move us. I asked him if he can go up on the room and check what I was complaining about so that he would know I’m not lying but he told me right away he cant do so as he was the only person there and there was no maintenance. He didnt want to go up at all to check and he just said we can just check out and he wont charge us. I asked for the manager and was told there was no one that night so I can just ask in the morning. I told him that was not right so I called Bonvoy customer service to see if they can help. The customer rep called him and the rep called me back and was told there was an available room but only a studio room with 1 king bed and no sofa bed so we won’t fit. I was surprised to hear that as Patrick never mentioned
