SJ Suites Hotel

We stayed at this hotel 03/29/2024 with our toddler and checked out early morning 03/31/2024. I made sure we are good before we left and after few days, they charged us extra $$ close to $100 for couple of small towels being dirty. I never seen this kind of shameful way of making money in hotel business. They made baseless Aquisition that when they dry clean towels the stain didn't go away. They didn't have bathroom matt, so I used small towel so that my toddler won't fall when the floor is wet. That how the stain came from which is 100% guaranteed washable. The management lady also told that we stain and damaged comforter when ask about these charges. My daughter used her own blanket. She may have drop small candy bar stain which is also 100% washable. Please be aware of such charges and take pictures before and after you stay. Everything is old in these hotels and make sure all bedsheets. comforter, towels etc. are clean before you checked in. I stayed 4 different hotels during my visit to Puerto Rico none of they have such false charges. I'll never come back to this hotel. I should have read other's reviews about stain and towels.

Women be aware if you get foundation on a towel from washing your face they will charge you $25. It was considered to be damaged and stained. It was foundation, so they clearly don’t use proper detergents. I’ve never been charged for this at any other hotel. I had to stay a while during check out to figure how to have them share the image of the “damaged” towel with me. I honestly don’t know if it’s even from my room. I’ve sent them emails requesting a response from management and still nothing. I was charged for a small foot towel within 24 hours of my stay. I agree I damaged it and had no argument. My sunscreen spilt in my suitcase and I used it to wipe off some items that had runny red ink and I didn’t not argue that towel but I was surprised about the second large towel over make up. Bathing and washing my face is such a basic hygiene practice for anyone especially if they wear makeup. I use make up remover and anyone who wears makeup up will know these other items won’t always completely remove it all. The image shared is of the second towel charge not sure if the blue is the detergent they used or shadows.. if neither then it was definitely not my towel. The hotel itself is pretty outdated more than the pictures reflect. It is true that there aren’t any windows in the room and it’s dark. If you plan to be out and about all day as I was it is fine to just sleep but it is a pretty depressing room. The walls are also thin so you can hear people chatting in the neighboring rooms. I was there for a week.

The hotel was decent but very old. The girl at the reception I believe her name was Vinccenza was a sweetheart and very accommodating. Initially when I got the room assigned I had to go back and ask to switch the room as it was in the corner and very dark with minimal light. I shared with her that I’m too claustrophobic and right away she moved me to a better room with brighter windows. The only drawback I felt was there is no thermostat in the rooms to control the temperature. The hotel sets the temperature for the entire hotel. Unfortunately it was hot for me to stay there during my 4 nights stay. I got a portable fan from a friend to use during my stay there. Also they advertise coffee/pastries but it’s just coffee but you have to go after 9am to get it as they don’t brew it before that. A little odd but that’s the only two things I can say were negative about the place. Room service was great and they were great with change of towels and making the bed everyday. Overall a decent place to stay for a lower price compared to other places nearby. It is definitely centrally located in old San Juan.

This is not a fancy hotel, but it is very well located in the heart of old San Juan. Hotels are expensive here, and this one is more affordable, but not cheap. The hotel is decent and air conditioned. We had ample hot water in the shower, a frig and tv. Beds comfortable. The elevator works. Front desk staff are helpful In suggesting places to eat or source things. No breakfast is served (coffee only) but plenty of eateries close by. Close to the waterfront. We stayed here while awaiting our cruise.

REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE!!!! BE CAREFUL!! I arrive at 3:00 am. My friend went to let the receptionist know that I was arriving late due that they never answer my phone calls. She gave her a paper with the code of the entrance door, my room number and the code of the room number. I got there and the code from the entrance door work, however there was somebody in my room and the code didn’t worked. I was calling all phone numbers, I didn’t slept the whole night. I was outside of the room because i didn’t know where to go. The receptionist came until 9:00 am and she said that they gave me the wrong room number. I requested a refund of that night. They said they will give it to me but it has been more than the week and I haven’t received anything.

Great friendly staff and room was clean.

The location of SJ Suites Hotel could was amazing if you want to explore Old San Juan. They were also able to accommodate a very late check in when our flight got delayed and we got in after 1am. That being said, we didn’t realize some rooms did not have windows when we were booking and our room was freezing. Overall, a no frills hotel that we would stay at again if we could get a room with a window.

Area was under construction. Hard to find hotel because no big signage but staff and stay was excellent. This was my second stay in a year.
