When I was looking for a hotel for a 1-night stay in Salzburg, I stumbled upon the listing for the Hyperion and took a chance. I wasn't familiar with the Hyperion hotel brand and didn't know much about Salzburg. Now, I have fallen under the spell of both the hotel and the city. The Hyperion is a fairly new hotel and it is in pristine shape. The room is rather generously sized compared to most of the European hotels I have stayed in thus far. The bathroom was particularly good -- with an American-style shower that featured both a handheld wand and a rain shower head. The separate water closet was a plus. The technology in the room (especially the lighting tech) is impressive, if not slightly confusing. Nice touch to have the Nescafe machine and the Mozart chocolates. The bed was very comfortable. The location, next to Mirabell Gardens, was great. The hotel staff was helpful. We arrived early, and the front desk gave us tips on how to spend our afternoon, drawing out some local attractions on the map and suggesting we get a Salzburg card (we already had them). They also gave us a recommendation for dinner, but we were turned away at the restaurant, which was full. In stead, we dined at the restaurant in the hotel, which was quite nice. Service was solid. Breakfast is a tad expensive, but they do offer a wide assortment of breakfast items (hot and cold) as well as eggs made to order. Champagne was also available for mimosas. Nice touch.

This is a really nice hotel just beside the train station and across the street from the main bus lines that take you everywhere in the City. The room was excellent with a free mini-bar and other nice amenities. It is definitely worth spending more for the higher floor as the view is spectacular. Lot's of mountains on one side and rolling countryside on the other. The staff were all good, check-in and check-out was easy and the breakfast in the morning was tasty with lots of variety. I would definitely stay there again.

We only stayed here for one night on our way to St. Wolfgang and Hallstatt. We picked this place because it's super close to both the train and bus stations, plus the price was really reasonable.
When we checked in later in the evening, we met this friendly receptionist from Germany, but we didn't catch his name.
The room was spotless, with a nice clean bathroom, air conditioning, and a kettle. The only downside was no fridge in the room, but they said we could use the one at the front desk if we needed.
Breakfast on the 6th floor was awesome with great views of the mountains.
Overall, this hotel was perfect for our quick stay, and we'd definitely choose it again next time we're in Salzburg.

Everything is very good except for a little further from the city centre, perfect for self-driving tourists. Great value for money! In the peak season of July and August, this price is really nothing to say.
The design of the ibis Styles Bad Reichenhall identifies with the picturesque Alpine town, picking up the regional theme of "Salt" throughout. Carefully selected elements bring mountain flair to this modern hotel. Look forward to special extras, such as the spa area with sauna, salt lounge, loungers, ice fountain, and more. Afterward, a delicious dinner awaits you at The Public pub and bar.

We stayed overnight on our way to Austria. We found the hotel without problem using Google Maps. We were warmly welcomed and directed to a well-furnished, air conditioned room. The room was furnished in a modern style. The room was clean as was the ensuite, which was exceptionally appointed. The room was quiet and the bed very comfortable. We dined in the restaurant where we enjoyed a tasty meal, freshly cooked and served quickly and pleasantly. The extensive inclusive breakfast buffet was most enjoyable. Car parking was in the hotel’s underground car park for an extra charge. We would book to stay again in this hotel.

The setting is out of a movie. Exactly what you would expect a hide a way in Austria to look like. The hotel is an old castle I believe, that has been newly renovated. Cosmetically it is pristine. When you walk into your room the crisp white duvet makes you want to get in bed and never leave. The literature said that there are six restaurants. When we were there, we knew of 1.5 restaurants. There is the main restaurant that has a direct view of the lake. Very beautiful. The food is five star for sure and what we ate was delicious but it seemed that the menu did not vary. We were there three nights. We were told that the second restaurant was closed but that we could eat from that menu if we wanted to sit at the bar or the bar room (that has soft seating). We did that one night and the food was excellent. In sum, there appears to be only one main restaurant at this time. The spa is gorgeous. Sleek and modern and very Scandinavian looking. It all looks brand new. The pool goes from indoor to outdoor and is gorgeous with water that dares not lap over the sides. There are saunas all brand new and immaculate. Because it’s so new it is definitely going through growing pains as to be expected. The staff is polite but tentative. In sum, a great venue for some rest and relaxation with as much culture/activity as you would like.

The environment is really great, just on the top of a small hill, surrounded by rolling snow-capped mountains, green meadows, and a few small villages. The Internet celebrity swimming pool and Internet celebrity swing occupy the two best viewing points, and the breakfast window is simply a masterpiece. It is a 20-minute drive from King Lake and you can take a half-day tour. The room is large and the restaurant is expensive, but it doesn't matter. Some hotels in Switzerland may have this environment, but there should be no other in Germany.

The pictures in the website do not do this hotel justice. Such a lovely hotel. We stayed half board, some of the evening meals were hit and miss, but breakfast and some evening meals were lovely. Especially the swordfish. Beer is great taken in the lovely beer garden, with views over the mountains. Train and bus station across the road, with trips to most major attractions within 20 minutes of the hotel, they were quite regular and always punctual. You even get a free guest card which gives you free travel to most attractions some with discounted entry. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable, we opted for an upgrade to a balcony room, which gave great views of the mountains and the river below. All the staff gave great service, but especially Sam on reception who was amazingly helpful and always friendly - just sorry we ran out of money so I couldn’t leave him a tip, but we will definitely returning and will ensure I put something away - sorry Sam x

First the positive:
The breakfast buffet was rich and appealing with very nice service staff.
There was a super great pizzeria and gelateria, which were on the ground floor of the hotel. We had a great evening there and the pizzas were just perfect and authentically Italian.
The negative side: We booked three rooms. The rooms would actually be modern and nice. But no matter where you look: NOTHING was clean! The sheets/towels were changed, but I had the impression that the cleaning was not done at all or only very superficially. Dirt on the shelf, the ledge, lots of crumbs on the floor, chalky fittings, dirty toilet seat, mold on the rubber seals in the shower, dirty cabinets, doors, door latches. Worst: Dirty and disgusting duvets when you pull back the sheet. Something like that should be washed if it has stains. Disgust factor to the power of 10. I spend 8-10 weeks a year in hotels, but this was an impertinence that I had never seen before.
At night:
Loud bass music blared through the walls and floor until about 2am. Youngsters were in front of the window, which made noise until 5 in the morning. It was way too warm in the room. I am aware that the hotel cannot do anything about the noisy people in front of the room and the heat, but it was just crowning the rest. It was just horrific. We booked this hotel to recover from a long drive and drive more on the next day. Recovery wasn’t possible as we all couldn’t sleep.
I will never book a Dormero hotel again. The term “fancy” they love to use means something completely different in my world.

Outstanding
GGuest UserThis is probably the best place we have ever stayed! Alex and Iris are great hosts, friendly and very helpful. Everything is perfect. The rooms are spotless, the toiletries luxurious, bed very comfortable, great to have tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast was lovely, great choice, lots of homemade and local produce and my husband said it was the best omelette he'd eaten. Lots of information on things to do in Salzburg. 20 minute easy walk or quick bus ride into the old town to get to Christmas markets and other museums and attractions. Easy to get to from the airport. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you Alex and Iris!
GGuest UserCocoon Salzburg - 10-13 July 2022 done both not all pix only the room This hotel is almost right across from the train station, on a corner, very easy to find - white 7 story building with a big butterfly outline on the glass doors. Inside the lobby is part of the bar and breakfast room. Checkin is super friendly. Room is small but wins the cuteness prize. Carpeting and walls in hallway all green with small leafy patterns like in a jungle. Bed is firm and very comfy, bedding is an interesting weave feeling like soft cotton paper, and 4 big fluffy pillows. No amenities in room such as phone, electric kettle or coffee makers, or even a small fridge. Has safe however. The hanging rattan chair is cute but takes up some room. Day couch by the window, no tables, night stands or desk - or chair for that matter (no room anyway). The most minimal amount of furniture, the idea I guess is all about lounging around so you don't ever need to sit up anywhere. Not much surface to layout stuff just a sort of narrow shelving on the wall next to the TV. Bathroom also tiny but everything is new and modern and the rain shower is the best ever. Takes a bit of maneuvering to get our two large suitcases settled. We are on the 6th floor so have a bit of view of mountains over the top of a building across the street. Windows have electrically controlled shutters outside (push button inside). You get a nice bar of chocolate and 5 euros for opting out housekeeping (although they said something about not continuing this practice). Floor uncarpeted. Aircon good. Wifi seems pretty fast. Nightlight under the bed is motion sensitive, so it comes on whenever you are moving around the room. Breakfast is good with scrambled and pre shaped fried eggs, sausage and bacon-like ham. Good selection of pastries and croissants and breads. Half dozen different kinds of tea all loose so need to scoop into a teabag in order to steep which is interesting and pretty fancy. Selection of cold meats as well and cheese. Tomato, cucumber and fruit. They don't check to see if you have breakfast included which is strange because it's extra charge for breakfast so not automatically included in all rooms. Overall a pretty good breakfast and food gets replenished pretty quickly. Seating tends to run out at peak time and people will ask to share your table if there is room.
GGuest UserThe hotel location is little away but you can always walk down to the river in 15 min. i did not like the room decor. It was too dark. The hotel room was small. Bathroom had only one gel type. Hotel is good for single day stay.
CCHU YILocation: I like that bus stops are very near the hotel to go to the popular spots in the city. Far enough from the crowd but not too far from necessities such as supermarket (Billa) and a very good restaurant (Fuxn).
Room: I am completely supportive of hotels not supplying disposables. Be prepared to have your own toiletries!
Only trouble I had was the curtains in my room 110 didn’t close all the way and the balcony was open to occupants of the neighboring rooms. Had to find lots of ways to keep my room covered!
Complimentary bottle of water is per stay, not per day.
I see people complaining about the lighting in the rooms, but I think it’s the theme of the hotel and I personally like the style.
Cleanliness: very satisfied with the daily housekeeping standards!
GGuest UserThe bus to Salzburg is only 15 minutes away, but there are several buses going at the same time, and Hellbrunn or Cable Kata are both on the mountain, so if you have a timetable to go there, you can stay in the hotel, especially if you travel from Take the Flix or Leo bus in Prague or elsewhere. This is the direction from the station to the city, so you can find accommodation earlier because the accommodation is earlier than the city. The staff are friendly and it rains a lot in Salzgan, so I rented an umbrella from the hotel and used it well. The disadvantage is that it is air-conditioned, so I chose this type of accommodation, which is usually not what we think it is, but a fan-like device.
Please note that air conditioning is installed. However, it rained on the day we went, so that air conditioning was not needed. Opening the window and blowing the wind is much cooler than opening the air conditioner. You can open the window, because there are no mosquitoes, it doesn't matter. In addition to the disappointment with the air conditioning, the price is cheaper than the accommodation in Salzburg, so you can take the bus.
GGuest UserBooked this hotel for our ski holiday as only 60-90 mins from many ski resorts. Breakfast is amazing with lots of choice and every day had scrambled eggs and bacon plus many other options. Bus too opposite with number 4 bus running about every 20 mins until about 2230 hours. Cost for single is €3 euros. (Only take cash on buses). They also offer a day ticket for €4.50 but not sure if you have to buy this from a machine as didn’t offer on bus. You can buy a return ticket! We never had an issue with parking although the car park was often busy as the Sushi restaurant is very popular. There is also a Chinese buffet restaurant opposite called Huy Cook and Eat. ({€25). Food was good. They offered lots of raw fish and I wasn’t aware that they actually cook it for you! Rooms were cleaned every day and shower was awesome. I would have given this 5 stars but some of the reception staff weren’t very helpful. Eg. Not knowing any information about basic stuff like the buses!
We visited Salzburg on the 4th week of August recently. We stayed in Das Salz with my family. Its a different kind of a hotel run by College students on a part time basis. The hotel does not have a reception, instead one of the students will be there between 9-5pm to address your concerns. The following are my feedback: PROS: 1. Good compact clean rooms. Quite spacious. 2. Great location with access to trains ( 10 min walking), bus stop( next to the hotel), departmental stores ( SPAR 100m) and lots of food options through restaurants. The city centre near Mirabel palace is about 15min walking fromm the hotel. 3. Decent restaurant at the lobby also operated by students. 4. Provision for luggage room and lockers to keep your valuable safe while you explore Salzburg. 5. The students are quite helpful and supportive. 6. Great options of bicycles and umbrellas on a rainy day. CONS: 1. No kettle and tea/coffe provisions in the room. 2. We were given Access number for Access to doors and rooms. No key or key cards. Once the Access number did not work. I had to request for a new Access number to get through. 3. The hotel is on the busy main road. If your windows is facing the main road, it makes a lot of sound in the busy hours. Hence you need to keep the windows closed. 4. Centralized A/C. The room A/C controls does not work. I tried many times. On a hot day, it would be very inconvenient.
GGuest UserI booked this hotel online after lot of research and went by the brand of ”Best Western”, whose properties I have stayed around the world in the past. However, I would say the experience was much below expectations. Pros 1. Very close to Salzburg train station. It is about 2kms from the station 2. Bus stops are right opposite of hotel so ease of public transport 3. Walking distance to Mirabell Palace and Mozartplatz (main tourist attractions) 4. Several Indian restaurants within walking distance from hotel. 5. I was given a large room so it was good from family point of view 6. Room, bathroom was clean, nice bed, clean bed linen and towels etc 7. Staff at FD was efficient and solved most of our issues quickly. Cons 1. When we checked into room, we noticed that not even electric kettle, tea, coffee was provided in the room. It was provided only after brought into the notice of the front desk. 2. Intercom in the room was not working, so every time you have to go to the FD to inform 3. The room has a very small window at shoulder level, which was quite odd. 4. Salzberg was quite warm during our stay and AC was not working in the room. 5. Breakfast spread was small considering this was a 4 star hotel. 6. The bathroom has peculiar design & it was quite awkward for our Indian sensibilities, that shower enclosure was in glass open to view from all sides from the room. Such arrangement is not suitable if you have older children staying in the same room. We had our 10y old with us and we had to finish our shower before she would wake up. I would rather avoid this hotel in future!!
XXiu HuiNear the train station, it takes 6-8 minutes to walk; there is no refrigerator or kettle in the room
The operation at the front desk will be slow, so you need to wait patiently.
On the first day of check-in, I found that the bath towel was dirty. I wanted to take it out and change it, but the front desk had to check in for a group, so I gave it to them the next day. Since I didn't plan to do room cleaning, I asked them to leave the bath towel at the front desk and wait until they returned to the hotel. I asked them to get it, but it was delayed until the afternoon of the third day.
But I'm also very grateful that they were willing to let me store my luggage for two days after checking out to go to Hallstatt.
The room has a simple style. The design of the bathroom is a little strange to me, because the glass door that separates dry and wet areas has no door handle on the inside, making it difficult to close the door.
GGuest UserArrived on 11.06.2023 at around 3 am. Sent an email before hand that we would be arriving at said time via train. When we got to the hostel, check in counter was not manned with sign to call reception phone. Tried calling phone number several times it did not connect, when it got through it went straight to voice mail. Been waiting for more than half an hour at 3 am, tired and exhausted from the journey when a group of drunk men entered the lobby and was gaining access to the bar which was also unmanned. They went behind the counter, opening the fridge with beers, it was only then when a very sleepy, exhausted and unapologetic staff appeared. Check in process took a long time since she even had to check if the room was ready, a room I already paid in advance for to reserve it since I knew we would be arriving after 6 pm - their cut off time for room reservation of free cancellation bookings.
