What a wonderful experience! Of course inspite of our GPS, we got lost, but when we drove up to this magical place we were thrilled. Situated in the middle of breathtaking vineyards, we entered the beautiful gates & the owner/chef/decorator & winemaker, Clement, greeted us with such warmth. We felt we had known him for years. A young entrepreneur, he is fascinating to talk to and so very nice. The place is decorated in some of the finest, most interesting antiques. It appears he too loves brocantes & he was kind enough to tell us where to find some. First night Clement gives us a tour of his winery & was very informative & knowledgeable. His wine by the way is delicious. He suggests dinner at a place in Libourne which is about 20 min away…very good. But the highlight was the next night when Clement cooked for us. There were 4 other couples, but instead of all of us sitting together, he sat each couple at tables situated privately in sections of his garden. It was so truly romantic. He prepared a French Basque chicken that had piquant seasoning. It was done to perfection. Pasta with orange & thyme & a ratatouille of veggies with Basque seasoning. A cheese plate that looked like an artist palette…5 different cheeses each having a condiment of either fruit or walnuts. Dessert was a small bowl of tiny, various chocolates. All served with his lovely wines. One of the best dinners in our month long trip. Breakfast was amazing & diversified. Clement prepared eggs as well if you so desired besides the fresh sweets, croissants & cheeses. The view from our room of his vineyards was breathtaking as was the room itself. So many lovely antiques. The bathroom modernized tastefully. Huge shower & so very clean. Very quiet & peaceful surroundings. No TV, thank you Clement. We highly recommend!!
