I originally was booking another Hilton in St. Augustine (Homewood Suites) but it was expensive so the reservationist suggested Spark. I booked it without looking a reviews, but did look later and some of them were concerning but it was just for a short stay of one night. We came to check in around 9 pm and had to give our license plates for parking. There was a music festival (Sing out Loud) going on, so downtown was busy. I'd booked two rooms for me and my husband and my daughter and her two children. I entered my room and noticed there was a garbage can full of trash and a brown paper bag. I called downstairs to tell them, but then noticed towels crumpled up, wet washcloths and slimy soap, with a hair tie on the floor for good measure. They had given me a room that hadn't been cleaned. I guess the fact the bed was made threw me off. I went downstairs to get a new room. They didn't have one with a King bed, so I got two queens. The front desk worker didn't really apologize, just shook her head and said ”I'm not going to say anything,” like she was used to this kind of problem. The one thing I think she would've said was: ”I'm sorry.” After that, the room was fine, although we could never get the TV to work. The hotel is in a good location, close to the Fort and the historic district. The shampoos, soap and conditioner are in a large dispenser (not minis) and there are no cups in the room, but there are cups downstairs. You can also get tea or coffee 24/7. The breakfast was bagels, cream cheese, Yoplait yogurt and muffins in cellophane (Bran, Blueberry and Banana). It was fine for what it was. My one complaint about Spark, obviously, is the dirty room and lack of acknowledgment of the inconvenience. You need a key to use the restroom in the lobby. I took photos of the first dirty room and then places in the second where there was a split in the door and paint missing. Apparently the hotel was recently redone, but it looks like a little bit of a sloppy job (at least with painting). The gentleman at the front desk the next morning was helpful.

We stayed here for two nights and made reservations through Holiday Inn. The price per night was close to $300, which was outrageous. But we wanted a Holiday Inn. There were very nice aspects to this hotel. But also some improvement, needed. On the plus side, our room was nice and clean although small. The bathroom was very roomy and we liked the Dove personal care products offered. The WIFI was a bit slow. But the beds were comfortable, so all good there. We arrived extra early (1 PM) and the guy at the desk, Andrew, couldn't have been more helpful! He checked on our room and found that indeed, we were able to check-in early. And he was very patient with us, explaining the many things to do and see around St. Augustine. He recommended Casa Reina for dinner, which we thoroughly enjoyed. He was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. We also talked to the house-keeping crew a number of times and they were always very pleasant. We looked into having breakfast the next morning and found the offerings weren't that appealing and the breakfast room very small. So we drove to the McDonald's down the street. It was nice that they offered coffee and hot water 24/7. There looked to be a nice pool, but the weather wasn't nice enough to swim. Our biggest complaint was the parking lot: it was extremely small and hard to drive around. It we had a big SUV, we probably wouldn't have been able to park here. This hotel was nice and close to Downtown. If we were younger, we could have walked across the bridge. If I had to plan this trip again, I would have tried to find a more reasonable hotel right Downtown where we could come and go, walk almost everywhere and not have to find (and pay) for a Downtown parking lot.

Excellent
GGuest UserWe enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt Place Vilano Beach. It was a close walk to a beautiful, clean beach. We were told the pool wasn’t warm, but turned out it was! We skipped swimming because we weren’t aware until it was too late. The breakfast was great and well stocked. We paid a little extra for a balcony but the view wasn’t good. Don’t waste your money on a balcony. We paid for valet parking which ended up not being necessary. There is plenty of street parking. It was overall a clean hotel and very friendly staff.
GGuest UserHad a nice stay at Best Western Bayfront. Location is great!!! Walking distance to everything, restaurants and shopping. Room was nice, but floors were dirty. Still recommend to everyone.
Our experience at the Smart Stay Inn was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the front desk personnel. The room was very clean, and the pool area was so relaxing. Great staff and friendly. Nice restaurant in the area and not far away. I would recommend this hotel.
GGuest UserThe Ponce is an older hotel with plenty of charm and character, which was what I was looking for. It has been maintained and updated beautifully. The staff was very welcoming and accomodating. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable. Amenities included pool, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, blow dryer, iron, ironing board, writing desk with chair, huge HD TV, and free WIFI. A guest laundry room is available. The Ponce is a 15 minute walk or short drive to the St. Augustine old historic site. Shopping, restaurants, and a salon and spa are also minutes away. The Ponce is on the water, and although the restaurant does not face the water, the view is beautiful.
The hotel restaurant, the DeLeon, is a Colombian restaurant. The food was delicious and authentic! I can't wait to eat there again.
I give the Ponce Hotel a rating of A+++++. I also must mention that I left a pair of diamond earrings in my room, and within an hour of checking out, Negar, the hotel desk receptionist, called me to let me know, and my earrings are being mailed to me. This honesty and going the extra mile is seldom seen today, and I was extremely impressed and grateful. Again,I rate them very highly and plan to return on my next visit.
Great and very accommodating staff. Excellent rooms, very clean, safe and quiet. We were traveling pulling a boat and the staff went out of their way on a very busy night to make sure we could park in a safe area and have a wonderful nights rest. Thank you. You were our saving grace.
We made a reservation online and asked to stay on the top floor so that we would not be near pets as this is a pet-friendly hotel. We like to stay at La Quinta’s as they are usually quiet and the beds are comfortable. They did comply and put us on the top floor, however there was a family on that floor with 3 dogs in their room. We complained to the front desk and were told they were full that night and when that happens they allow pets on floors other than the designated area (first floor) and in rooms that are not designated for pets (which to me means they don’t care about guests with allergies). The clerk said “they are clear down the hall from you.” These were not well behaved, quiet dogs. When with the owners, they were barking and when the owners weren’t present, they barked even more. At 6:30am the owners went to breakfast and left the dogs in the room, so they of course were barking and disturbing other guests. If putting pets on other floors in non pet designated rooms is now La Quinta/Wyndham’s policy, we will not be staying at La Quinta again. This was the second time in a week that we had this problem in a La Quinta while traveling.
RRick BTonya at the front desk is so kind and professional!! I feel like I'm coming home when I see her! Everything is run right when she is here!! The other girls they have had here are usually rather indifferent. Twice they have insisted I leave saying I hadn't paid when I did pay!! Then when the man manager came by I pleaded with him. He finally corrected it in the system but the girl never even said she was sorry that happened! * She really did not care at all!! That's been a while ago but I've never forgot what it feels like to be treated that way! * I miss Tonya when she isn't here!!! * I love the swimming pool!! * The rooms are kept clean. There was no electrical outlet anywhere on or even near the nice large table desk! How am I supposed to plug my computer and speaker in?? * That is super inconvenient!!!! *There is no breakfast served here whatsoever!!! * Every other hotel I go to has at the very least has a grab and go breakfast if not a full breakfast!!!!
First time in Saint Augustine with my wife and kids, and we decided to stay here after we saw the IHOP with the Days Inn, which we had never seen before. Wow, we just cannot say how happy we were with our stay here. Our room was 206, and it was very clean and extremely beautiful. The entire hotel, inside and outside, was very clean, and they have everything in the lobby, which was a very big plus. The young manager who worked there was very professional, and he treated us as if we were his own family members. He gave my kids candy and my wife and me hot coffee the next morning from the IHOP restaurant. After we came home, we received a very beautiful greeting card from the hotel management for staying at the hotel. We would rate this hotel 100 stars. Thank you Days Inn Hotel, for making our stay the best.
We weren't expecting much but the rolling carts at 3am and people outside arguing half the night ruined our sleep. Room did look clean but honestly looking at poor repair job in bathroom showing water stains, mismatched paint, poor patches, etc just makes it look like the owner gave up on the place. Ssriously, $100 wouldve at least made the bathroom respectable. It's a shame. Only 10 from amphitheater and so close to beach there is a lot of potential. We expected more from a Quality Inn.
MMtnGal12Very nice room that is clean, spacious, and airy. On the second floor, there is a handy access to a balcony to step outside and observe the area. The staff are polite and accommodating and the breakfast is adequate. During my stay, a hurricane was approaching (see the photo!) so the pool was closed and some amenities were not available, but still had a delightful stay! Fully recommend this hotel to anyone in the area. Plus, downtown and historic St. Augustine are worth a visit, there are a lot of things to see and enjoy.
