Our group felt very welcome thanks to the nice staff. Comfortable, large beds and a very good shower. Excellent hot breakfast overlooking the garden with robins, rabbits and squirrels. We enjoyed long walks in the hills and at the Seven Sisters.

Easy to find off from a lane just off the main road into Hastings. A warm professional welcome. Given the key to the room upstairs. We overlooked the Kitchen, I didn't specify a view on which you pay more for the room if you do. We had the basic Cosy room, Good points: Staff: Very courteous at all times, nothing was too much trouble The heating is on a mains service, you just change the thermostat on the radiators to get it to come on and how hot you want it. There is no Aircon in these rooms to cool but a fan is supplied. Great Tea and Coffee with quality biscuits on a tray with the kettle in the room. White towels are squeaky clean and a bathroom mat is provided. No flannels are supplied in this hotel. Modern Bathroom with big tilting mirror The bed is amazingly supportive - Sprung base and a quality mattress The bed linen is of a high standard and very clean. Mattress covers used (the quilted type) Modern Decor with a big modern flatscreen TV with a Remote A dressing room off the main bedroom with a large storage area to add your clothing and use the facilities it stores, e.g., fans, hairdryers, etc. It is an excellent Restaurant and has an Excellent separate lounge with a Bar. Large Garden to sit out in with Pagoda for several people at the same time. The garden is extensive and flat with pleasant landscaping. Plenty of FREE Parking in the grounds. Large wide opening to the premises for the car. Good Breakfasts - worth buying this upfront on your booking. Will cook simple breakfasts too, e.g. poached eggs on toast, which isn't on the menu. The cooking by the Chef was excellent. The dining room is waitress service. Perfect Poached eggs and the quality is locally serviced. People who do not stay at the hotel can still go in for an evening meal. READ the leaflet they give you with the room keys, you will NEED to know when Breakfast is! Negative points: The room could have been cleaner than it was, Cobwebs everywhere hanging off the ceilings, around the middle light, hadn't seen a feather duster for some time. Even the housekeeping service did not clear it off when they came in. The outside of the balcony was a half-hearted attempt to make it look good, it was dirty and cobwebbed heavily. Need I say more? The inner hotel stairway has a big bunch of flowers arranged in the window, this hadn't seen a Hoover or duster for a long time either, there were cobwebs everywhere. It wasn't Halloween, so no excuses! LOL Tired Decor, needed repainting. The bathroom skirting board was damaged and old. (in your face when sitting on the toilet) A big hole in the wall was not repaired in the bedroom behind the door, could see an update of wiring added. Fire hazard, The room lacks electric points but daisy chaining together, extensions into extensions is one massive FIRE HAZZARD. It fails the Health and Safety test. My partner being a health and safety official at work, would know this. The Shower was a major bugbear. - It wouldn't go cold, it was either hot

Has potential to be a great restaurant. Our first visit to this restaurant, on arrival, we thought what a fantastic place, beautiful gardens, stunning building with easy parking and so quiet. We walked in, only a resident was there to greet us! We had to ring the bell for service, ok no problem, she pointed to the dining room and was told to take a seat at any table (only one other couple seated). We were given a menu prior to sitting and asked if we would like a drink? We choose a bottle of wine, quite expensive list. It was promptly brought to the table, unopened! Are we ready to order our food? Felt a bit rushed, we asked for more time. As no one opened our wine, my husband poured. Ummm you expect better service after paying £30 a bottle. Incidentally, it was advertised as Australian, the bottle said Chilean. Our food ordered, the wait wasn’t too bad! When the food arrived, an apology was offered for the delay and would we like any sauces? I choose chicken in a tomato, herb and cheese sauce with wedges. It was awful and tasteless! My husband had steak, which he said was ok but not the best, expensive for what it was. The chips were not at all appetising and left most of them. The desserts were acceptable, probably not homemade! When we finished, our plates were removed and we were asked if we wanted anything else. On replying no thank you, we were left and after waiting for about 15 minutes, decided to leave and had to ring the service bell at reception for our bill, which unfortunately an error was made, but on pointing this out offered no apology. The service charge added equated to 10% which I begrudgingly paid. I should have queried it but as there was the error decided to leave it. We left both feeling very disappointed, different feeling to the beginning of the evening! It’s a huge shame as we are looking for a venue to cater for a forthcoming celebration, the venue is perfect, sadly the food and service let it down. Sorry we won’t be returning!

Dinner was awful. Very poor and microwaved. Never again. Very expensive and poor service. Dining area very small and the type of food / menu is more that of a cheap cafe. Nice garden. Parking in a girls area on broken bricks, not great if you have a nice car.

I am blown away by the service and overall staff dealings of my night at claverton. By no faults of their own. there was no water due to a burst water pipe but would you have known absolutely not Joe was ontop of everything he dealt with all our needs with accuracy and speed and actually he blew me away. He was calm and precise to the point you would not of througt there was a problem. I really don't normally do this sort of thing but I have to say when someone has gone above and beyond like Joe did. Honestly excellent venue great staff great venue.

The Claverton House Hotel is a lovely, small hotel with good parking, with wonderful grounds and is well located for trips to Battle, Hastings and the Carr Taylor Vineyard. Our family group spent one night in 2 luxury rooms - modern, spacious with king size beds. We had an enjoyable dinner - a good selection of menu options at reasonable prices - and excellent freshly cooked Full English breakfasts. The service by the generally young staff was efficient and friendly.

A wonderful place to relax for a few days. The staff are wonderful and very attentive. The food was excellent, especially the braised beef. The surroundings are wonderful and very peaceful and relaxing. We would certainly stay again. Very convenient for Battle and Hastings.
