The hotel is right inside the airport, which is very convenient for takeoff, arrival and transfer, and is worth the price.
However, the hotel does not provide free breakfast, and you can only dine in or order food at reflection, which is very different from other Marriott hotels. Check-in that night was at 12:00am, and there was no staff at the front desk. I waited for a while before they came out... The room I was assigned was next to the equipment room, and the cleaning staff would disturb my rest when they opened and closed the door in the morning.

I had nothing but problems with this hotel. I was only staying there for work and my job was paying for it. The first time I stayed there about a month ago, they told me they needed my credit card to hold a deposit. I was then charged for the room instead of a pending hold. I’m still going back and forth with their accounting department to try to get that charge taken off. When I stayed there the first time, they were also supposed to have a meeting room set up for me the next day. When I went to the front desk they had no idea what I needed. I showed them the contract my boss sent me and they took 30 minutes to scramble up a room last minute. I had to start my meeting late because of the hotel forgetting to set up the room. The second time I stayed, last night, when I go to check in they tell me there is no card on file and I have to pay for the room! I told them that’s incorrect and called my boss. The woman at the front desk called her boss too and told me it was settled but I needed to put my card down for the deposit. I told her last time they charged me for the room, she promised me that would not happen again. Now today, I check my statements and I have a pending charge for $100, the deposit, and a random $35 charge that I have NO idea what for! I’ll call tomorrow to try to get it settled but I just can’t believe the issues I’ve had with this hotel. I travel a LOT with this company and have NEVER had issues like this before!

Very big, the lobby area and dining area look really nice...but the room smelled a bit funny as if there was mold. Also the curtains in my room were very shear so if felt like everyone can see into the room. A lot of breakfast options, and it is a hot breakfast. Wasn’t awful also wasn’t the best.

On July 14 I flew to Detroit to attend a funeral on the 15th. I carefully researched airport hotels. The one I wanted was The Westin but couldn’t justify $340 for 11 hours. So I chose the next best thing, Embassy Suites, still expensive at $200 but I prefer to be clean and comfortable in hotels. Embassy Suites has always fit the bill in the past. When I walked into Room 217 my heart sank. It did not have that clean feel I was used to and had a moldy odor with old worn out furniture. I took photos to prove all of my anxieties. The curtains were old, thin, shabby and torn. The sofa was torn in several places. The table had dried food on it. The beds looked like children had made them up and the pillows were small squares like the size of medium throw pillows. The bed spreads were worn out and thin. There were stains on the pillow cases and make upon one. The towels were shredding. The toilet was so small your knees were up in front of you. I was appalled and disheartened. But, like a big girl, I sucked it up and did my best to make the room to,enable by spraying it with sanitizer and perfume and covering areas with towels. I carry a travel sheet for those…’Just-in-case’ moments which I never thought would happen at an ES hotel. I put my sheet over the sheet and pillow case and tried to be a good soldier. I began to nod and opened my eyes and saw something moving. Startled, I jumped out of the bed and grabbed a tissue to see what this was. I hate bugs of any kind but at this point of desperation, the bar was so low, all I could hope for was that it was a filthy disgusting roach and NOT A BEDBUG‼️ I put the insect in the water glass with a little water and took a picture. When I enlarged the picture I was beyond upset and completely baffled…IT WAS A TEXTBOOK BEDBUG!!! I googled images of bedbugs to see if this really was a bedbug and…it really was a bedbug…smh. I called downstairs and told the desk clerk, Diamond, there was a bedbug in my be along with all the other cosmetic problems, she replied “I can assure you it is not a bedbug cuz we get checked for them every two weeks. I decided to take it down to the manager but that person was gone. I showed Diamond the photos of the condition of my room and she was disconnected. She explained the furniture is not their fault because Covid prevented them from remodeling. Ok, regardless of the reason, the facts were the facts. She didn’t need to prove anything just lend an ear of understanding how I was feeling about paying $200 for 11 hours. It seemed Diamonds customer service skills needed honing. Diamonds words of understanding and compassion were “Would you like to check out?” I kid you not. I was not trying to get a refund, I saved $10 by using Priceline instead of Hiltons site so, no, I’m just letting you know what’s happening…period. I told her I’d love to if she was going to pay for it! Of course not. When she first saw the bedbug she tried to tell me that was not a bedbug but when I

NOTE: I have previously incorrectly posted this review referencing Holiday Inn Express Romulus/Detroit Airport, an IHG Hotel. And, I apologize to Holiday Inn Express. Therefore, I am resubmitting this review for the intended establishment: HOLIDAY INN DETROIT METRO. AIRPORT SHUTTLE EXPERIENCE: Several guests including myself arrived the same time via hotel airport shuttle. Shuttle driver was very polite, courteous and respectful. However, upon arrival at hotel, no one (staff) was present at the front desk and/or lobby area. We waited for approximately 10 minutes before a staff appeared from back office. With a very solemn/cold facial demeanor we were individually checked in. No welcoming remarks, etc. It was an overnight stay for me since I was connecting flight to Japan the following day - London/Detroit/Japan intinerary. RESTAURANT - FOOD SERVICE & FRONT DESK EXPERIENCE (Morning of following day) Basic western breakfast (limited selections). Restaurant staff was rather abrupt and rude by advising me that I must pay her a “gratuity” fee since my breakfast was complimentary (As an option, IHG Diamond status guests receives complimentary breakfast). I was rather uncomfortable with this encounter. I immediately brought this issue to the front desk staff about the gratuity issue. Unfortunately, she bluntly told me that it was “NOT HER CONCERN” and that any gratuity issue/concern was with the restaurant and not the hotel’s. From my observation/assessment of her demeanor, tone of voice and body language, she basically conveyed an “I DON’T CARE” indifferent attitude. As an IHG Diamond status customer, I expected a higher quality of customer service experience based on the highly commendable reviews posted in the IHG Review website. Unfortunately, it was an extremely “SUB-STANDARD” experience to me. Personally, I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL even for an overnight stopover. The treatment I have received was so degrading/humiliating compared to the highly commendable excellent customer service experience I have received from other IHG hotel establishments. Overall, I have perceived that the staff I have interacted with were extremely INDIFFERENT and very deficient in providing proper customer service. Further, it was also unfortunate that my candid review (similar to this review) was never posted by IHG after my submittal within a timely manner.

I was greeted warmly. All the employees were nice and did their best to accommodate all my request. I’m not from Michigan, so it seemed pricey for the quality. However this weighed no bearing on my stay. They have a restaurant in the hotel that prepares food, which is convenient - but some things weren’t up to par. For example I got fruit with my breakfast, and the not only looked old but also taste old. With that said - front desk and housekeeping were amazing. Thank you!

I was in town for the weekend for my nieces wedding. I have never had a crazier experience in my life at a hotel chain that I am a platinum member for. I don’t usually leave reviews but I want patrons to be cautious and aware. This is an extremely dirty hotel. My 15 month old son was bitten by bedbugs from the crib that was provided by the hotel. There were also aunts all over our room. We asked to switch rooms and were denied. The general manager Stephen Dixon would not speak to us in person despite multiple requests. We got rid of all our luggage clothes from the trip. On top of that, I am a physician and saved an 8 year old boy that DROWNED in their pool on site. Was told I fabricated the story despite EMS showing up and rushing the young boy to the hospital. I am a Marriott platinum member and have yet to hear back from the hotel or enterprise. My son was rushed to urgent care because of fever and the lesions seen on his torso and extremities. Run!! Do not consider this place. See pics for yourself.

The environment and service are good. It was when I called the shuttle at the airport, because the language was not available, the front desk was a bit impatient, and everything else was very good. Location, environment, breakfast are good. 24 hours hot water in the lobby, coffee, drinks, and fruit. Bring breakfast. There is a luggage cart. Check out will ask if you need a free shuttle bus. Overall, the price is high near the airport. There are restaurants such as McDonald's nearby.

The hotel is relatively close to the airport and the car rental company. The signs of other companies on the airport shuttle bus are probably shared by several companies, and there is no breakfast. Print a piece of paper for one dollar

GGuest UserWe had a brief stay here, overnight before a morning flight. Our family of 4 (including 2 teen boys, 17 and 19) got a suite with 2 queens and a pull out couch. My older son slept on the couch not pulled out and was comfortable. The queen beds were also comfortable. The room was very clean. Shower and toilet areas are separate…feel like closets, but we had no issue with that. Staff we encountered (front desk) were friendly and helpful…shuttle was easily scheduled. Shuttle was a bit late (10 minutes) in the morning but we had allowed for plenty of time to get to the airport so it was not a problem. The driver was very friendly and helpful, and we understood, as everyone is short staffed these days…he was likely pulling double duty. Front desk staff was in communication with him as well, so we knew he was on his way and were not stressed. Breakfast was adequate. Pre-packaged egg cup was surprisingly decent. I had that with some warm oatmeal and was set for the morning. We did not have time to use the pool or exercise room but they were available. We had a very smooth, quiet, brief stay and would stay here again. It served our needs well.
My family and I stayed here for a quick stay after missing our connection at DWT. It was a very nice and comfortable atmosphere. The room was clean along with the surroundings. The hotel is located in an area where we could walk to get food to eat, or purchase other items for our 24 hours stay. We left early the following morning, so we did not utilize the breakfast area, but they do provide a complimentary breakfast with stay. If I am back in this area, I would definitely stay here again.
GGuest UserI only spent 1 night here, and I was kinda prepping for a typical sort of crappy motel. Is it a luxury hotel? No, no one is gonna confuse it for that. But the room was comfortable, the wifi worked, the shower was fine, AC worked well and maybe most importantly for an airport hotel, the price was reasonable and there was a shuttle available. I really couldn't have asked for anything more in an airport hotel, frankly every major city should have this as an option and sadly that's just not the case, far too often you're in over $100 for the same room or worse. Of note, I clicked ”yes” an outdoor pool is available, but in reality their pool is totally out of commission. Didn't bother me, and in the upcoming months it won't matter, but if you wanted to take a dip, you can't.
GGuest UserWe stayed 3 nights. Very nice, friendly staff, but not one of the maids whom we encountered spoke a word of English. So we had to ask the desk for extra blankets. On each queen-sized bed, they had four pillows, with the pillowcases marked ”soft” and ”firm” - a nice touch. We skipped room service our first morning, but then they forgot us the second morning. There was no extra roll of TP, so we picked one out of a service cart. The breakfast was pretty standard for that level of hotel. But the first morning's oatmeal was so watery as to be unedible. I complained to the woman running the dining area (she was a native English speaker), and she was sympathetic. The next morning was better, under the supervision of a man who had known of my complaint, and he made it much better. From my standpoint, the eggs, prepared from a mix of some sort (I'm sure), were unedible. The coffee was low quality and very weak. But then, we make very strong coffee at home, recently dark-roasted. So we rarely drink the available swill when out. Starbucks is just barely for us, and we did find more than one nearby. The gym was surprisingly well-equipped for that level of hotel: multiple treadmills, a semi-recumbent bike, a cable machine, hand weights, workout mats, large-diameter rubber ball, bosu ball, rollers. Also, plenty of workout towels, some chilled in a small fridge. Chilled water dispenser but no cups. My wife and I were able to work out for an hour a day - nobody else ever showed up. Nice restaurant, the Capitol Bistro & Bar, was a 90-second walk across a parking lot on the same side of Merriman Road. Excellent waitress, very good soup and salad, good, local craft IPA (with a chilled glass), wines upscale enough to keep my wife happy. Other patrons reported their burgers and other meat dishes excellent - all huge portions.
AAnonymous UserIn order to return to China, self-quarantine for seven days + do nucleic acid. Very close to the airport, you can also order takeaway to the door. The overall experience is good. It is suitable for small partners who want to return to China to take Delta. I hope everyone can return home smoothly!
GGuest UserWe loved our stay at the Clarion Hotel metro Detroit airport! We were in the midst of a move and have stayed here twice in the last week for 8 days. It was pretty clean too! It was convenient and close to my job as well. It was nice also has a nice swimming pool and even though I didn't get a chance to swim on the hot days, I loved the grounds and the scenery! So relaxing! The free breakfast was also nice with waffles, eggs and sausage. I have no complaints about it and I would choose it and recommend it as one of my favorites now in this area by the airport, for price, location, and the amenities.
ZZHENGQuiet, the room was large, and I didn’t have a credit card when I returned home. Ctrip's certificate also helped me avoid the deposit payment. It was very convenient, and the hotel had a bus to Wayne Metropolitan Airport, which was very convenient
GGuest UserSometimes I need a break from life and this time I chose Extended Stay America I Romulus. The hotel is old and out dated but it was clean and quiet. When I check in the young lady at the desk was nice and friendly. The next time I need a break I will be returning to ESA
