Popular Rome 4-star Hotels

It was fantastic. We will surely book room again. The reception and all other staff was very friendly. It was quite peaceful at night.

The hotel is in a nice location with a train entrance just down the street. It was very clean, our room was very nice for the four of us and the hotel personnel were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed their breakfast every morning- it had a.good selection of breakfast food. Several great restaurants in the area. We enjoyed the wine bar next door - great food and wine. We also had wonderful drinks at Gatsby’s on the other side of the hotel. It was a 15 minute walk from the main train station which was not bad at all. We had a wonderful dinner around the corner at Vecchia Roma- you must make a reservation or get there before they open to get in line. We got there 15 minutes after they opened and waited 35 minutes for a table but it was worth it. We enjoyed our visit and would stay here again.

We stayed at the Hotel Ripa Roma for five nights. At first glance, a very well-kept hotel with a good ratio between price and quality. We were well served on arrival after midnight by the receptionist and were able to get to the room quickly. The last day we could check out until noon, but since our flight was in the evening, we could safely leave our luggage at the reception. A plus, because your last day in Rome can also be a nice one this way without luggage dragging. The hotel has a very nice, contemporary and artistic look. We like this very much. The room (superior room) was very spacious, clean and with the necessary facilities. The bed was very good. The bathroom was very hygienic, logically arranged with a pleasant shower. About the room we certainly have no complaints. Only the noise from other rooms and the corridor was disturbing. When the guests in the neighboring room turned on their TV, we could perfectly listen in. When shouting in the hallway, it seemed that those persons were standing next to the bed. The rooms are not really soundproof. Fortunately, we had earplugs with us. We also took breakfast during our stay. Here we are less satisfied. The tableware was dirty (coffee cups brown, cutlery with food residues, plates insufficiently cleaned, glasses full of calcium, ...), in our opinion a limited choice of healthy food (many cakes and cookies) and the hot dishes were cold, even when they were just served. We found the staff unhelpful, even a good morning or a friendly smile was sometimes too much. When we wanted to sit at a table on the small platform in the center of the restaurant, we were sent away because cleaning was already in progress (around 9:30 a.m.). The last two days the hotel was fully booked, which caused a lot of noise in the restaurant. We experienced this as unpleasant. Should we return, we would book a room without breakfast and find a nice breakfast place in town. Finally, we find the city tax on the high side. For the five nights (six days) we pay €60 (= €5 p.p. per day). That is the highest city tax I have ever paid and we are frequent travelers. Overall, a nice stay in a well located hotel, with the breakfast restaurant as a point of interest.

Cosy room. Close to transport, amenities deceiving as linked with other hotels, spa area not in this hotel but another up the road. Upstairs balcony/ bar not in service anymore but ok for a quiet drink you can take up as self service. Coffee not great, suggest to go elsewhere. Amazing seafood restaurant nearby would highly recommended, SaTanca Crostaceri.

The hotel was closed to the Vatican Museum. The cleanses of the hotel room can be improved while the luggage room is recommended to have lock or any type of security.

Slightly out of the city centre but a lovely hotel. The reception staff could not have been more accommodating or helpful, they were absolutely lovely. The pool was amazing, perfect temperature, breakfast great, the rooms nice, prices very reasonable in the restaurant etc. Hotel was very reasonably priced and I have absolutely no complaints at all, a great experience.

I booked two standard 22 m2 rooms, they gave me one of perhaps 12 m2 which is very small with a tiny bathroom and one a little larger with a large bathroom, one in the opposite wing. Shameful . Very nice and helpful staff but…… they should respect the reservations and not to their liking. My complaint X the room was answered …. Sorry we are full…. I am speechless ….

Looking for a place to stay in connection with concerts/activities at Pallazo dello Sport look no further - Hotel Shangri-La Roma in the EUR area is a perfect choice! We were holding tickets for a concert and debating forth and back with ourselves whether to stay in down-town historic Rome or change hotel and move to the EUR area in this connection. We chose the latter and were very happy that we did! The EUR district is situated more than 1 hr. by pubic transportation (bus/metro) from downtown historic Rome and one should not count on time-schedules running late evening nor to find a taxi in the chaos outside the sport hall, so staying overnight in the EUR area is the only sensible thing to do. And for that purpose Hotel Shagri-La is perfect! It took us merely 7 min, to walk between the hotel and the hall. Hotel Shangri-La is a hotel in a modern architechture with light halls and rooms in simple, smart and minimalistic design. The rooms are on the small side but offers you all the facilities you need for a briefer stay with a lovely, little adjacent bathroom. The decor is as shown in most of the pictures with white walls and orange blankets. Most rooms do likewise have a small private balcony or terrace - and so did ours - but with no view but for a concrete wall, so you need to ask specifically for a view of the green parklike area, if you would like that, we believe. But for a single night we were fine sitting for a tiny bit outside relaxing before getting off for the concert. OBS The EUR district is a very special area in suburban Rome with business and congress facilities spread out in a green area with lawns and trees and crossed by big busy boulevards. So you would like to stay here only in case of having business, meetings or sports/concerts events to take part in. There is no charming old historic Rome in sight here and it will take you long to get into down-town Rome from the hotel albeit various bus- and Metro lines are in the area. It took us some 40 min. by private taxi to get from Piazza Navona to Hotel Shangri-La in the afternoon. And as I mentioned before - the trafic situation outside the Palazzo dello Sport was more than chaotic, when we left the hall at midnight after our concert. But it took us just some 7 minutes to walk from the hall to Hotel Shangri-La along a well lit bit boulevard so it was a piece of cake! We were well received by the staff in the reception who spoke a perfect English and helped us get acquainted with the area on a map - and we had received a fine response before arriving as to how to get to the airport early next morning, so we were picked up at 04:30 am as pre-ordered by a nice car and friendly driver awaiting us and swiftly in some 15-20 min. driven to Fuciomicino. The price was as agreed upon (50 EUR incl. early morning pick-up), so we feel confident using and booking transfers directly with the hotel in the future as well. I give 5 stars just for the perfect location!!! Train station is far but everywhere is walkable from this hotel! Buses are close by! I was with my folks for 4 days and we literally walked everywhere!! We took bus only once from Travestere to Borghese Garden as they were literally in opposite directions! Rooms are a but outdated and in need of refurbishment! The breakfast was alright, was buffet with both hot and cold options and also some pastries and bakery! The staff were nice and helpful except the receptionist guy R who did not seem too enthusiastic to even talk to the guests! Overall okay-ish experience! I would recommend staying a bit further from Pantheon to avoid soending too much on hotel just for the location! Because you could save a fortune by using local buses and still not losing time! Because the main attractions are pretty much close to one another! Just plan ahead and try to get organised! If you go to Vatican try to start your day early to make the most out of your time and do your research too! Also right at the entrance of the hotel, there are lots of nice restaurants I also did people watching from my hotel window! Was lovely and the next day went to eat there! A bit noisy because of its location! People were drinking and chatting u til late! Just had to close the window and use my earplugs which helped!

This was my second stay here visiting Rome unfortunately, each time we were plagued with a challenge-not the fault of the hotel but nonetheless challenging. This time a broken water main resulted in a very challenging situation. The staff did the best they could under the circumstances but I was disappointed that the hotel offered no compensation for the disruption. We tried changing hotels but were offered no options. Thankful the water was restored by the end of the day but it was very challenging. The staff did a great job but IHG should have offered something to the guests. It is still a good landing place to visit Rome and we will return
