Reception: A little difficult to find from the car park but very welcoming and friendly staff. Room: I stayed on a single at the top of the building. Warm, extremely comfortable, good reception for EE mobile & data, lovely Moulton Brown soap, shampoo, etc. in bathroom with a great shower and bath. Coffee bags not a good idea-noone has perfected these yet so a coffee machine would be better or Nescafé. Restaurant: Noone to greet me at breakfast on Sunday which is uncomfortable for a single traveller. The waiting staff are lovely though and if you ask, nothing is too much trouble. I'd definitely come again and would recommend it.

We’ve stayed here a few times now and it’s always been excellent. The rooms are beautiful and perfectly clean, with nice decor and details. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is great, amazing breakfast and evening meal.

We stayed here for one night as a family (we had booked 5 rooms) as we were attending a wedding. Our first impression was awful with a moody, scowling, unhelpful and unwelcoming receptionist. We asked if we could access any of our rooms before the checkin time to which the reply was a curt 'No'. No mention that we could pay extra for getting in early (£20) which we discovered an hour later we could indeed do. However the food and drink service was very good especially in the large outdoor sitting area and at breakfast the next morning. The rooms were ok although not as clean as they should have been and one of our rooms had no loo paper. One of our guests asked reception to call a cab to which the reply was a curt 'No' and a piece of paper presented with a list of cab firms. Would I come again - probably not.

LOVED our stay at The Bear of Rodborough, such a lovely weekend. We travelled for wine tasting at the local vineyard which was literally a 5 minute drive. When we got back to the hotel which was beautifully located, we were told we had been upgraded! We were SO grateful to be in the suite and it really made our anniversary weekend. The room was huge with a really comfy bed, extremely clean and well equipped. It was so cosy we didn't want to leave! The outdoor garden is lovely and perfect for summertime with the pizza van and outdoor screen and games. Incredible food, best pate I've ever had! Every member of staff we spoke with were really attentive and friendly. All in all just a beautiful, cosy hotel that we didn't want to leave and couldn't recommend more highly! We will definitely return when visiting the Cotswolds again.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. We stayed in the newer building country house suite, not the cleanest or most expensive but very quiet. The room itself needs some serious updating. There is far too much furniture in the room which make passing each other an issue. The door handles are clunky and bash your knuckles when locking and opening. The decoration is very tired. The gardens and breakfast great. We attended a celebration of life with sandwiches and chips. Quite a few attended but not massive. The sandwiches were soggy and all stuck together. Shame on you. A hotel of this size I would have expected to be able to get a snack after 9 o'clock! All in all I think it was expensive and have stayed in better for the money.

We booked this hotel last minute as a base to stay overnight for a quick visit to the Cotswolds. What a lovely hotel and compliments to all the staff, from reception, bar and restaurant for such a friendly welcome and service. The grounds are lovely and plenty of places to park. Lovely outside seating areas and plenty of room for everyone. Our room was in the side building on the ground floor but we had a very peaceful nights sleep. Can’t comment on the dinner menu as we booked a local place that had been recommended instead but the menu did seem quite limited. Had the breakfast though and that was beautifully cooked with so much choice. My only gripe would be the cost of the bar drinks, one pint and one large wine came to £23.00 which seems very excessive. We have stayed many places in the Cotswolds and this was by far the most we have paid for two drinks anywhere. I would definitely return to stay at this hotel again due to the beautiful surroundings and the friendly staff, next time in the winter possibly to make the most of the cosy bar areas with log fires.

I came across this hotel as a recommendation for an overnight stay following attending Forest Live, after attempting to first book another of The Cotswold Inn’s group which was unfortunately fully booked. Although we didn’t arrive until quite late and even though we didn’t spend much time in the hotel the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and assist us with our queries. Our bedroom was in the adjacent ‘country house’ which seemed like an additional space when the business realised that more rooms were needed as it is quite a walk to the hotel amenities and restaurant although I quite enjoyed the added touch of the rooms being named after local towns and villages however the only downside was the bed was quite hard and uncomfortable - possibly because it was two singles pushed together. Another suggestion i would make would maybe be a small fridge for items if needed as the only alternative to the long trek back into the hotel is a phone call to reception desk. A larger supply of milk had to be bought from the local Supermarket. Sunday morning at breakfast again the staff and waitresses could not have been more delighted to impress. We had no sooner chosen a table when we were given a menu with an amazing selection of hot food plus the continental buffet. The food was delicious and coffee wonderful to wake me up from a latish night. I would definitely choose to come again.

Delightful hotel..after a nightmare 5 to 6 hour drive on the M5 instead of what should have been a 2 hr drive..we arrived at The Bear to be greeted by the lovely Nicky and colleague....what a friendly welcome ! We had a very nice room wuth a four poster bed..spotlessly clean and modern but classical bathroom..The Bear doesn't miss a trick...Molton Brown soup etc.Hildon water..top quality tea and coffee..ironing board sbd iron etc. The restaurant is bright and airy with views over the valley..the food was delicious..and we were served mainly by the delightful Molly who was so helpful as were all the staff.. We only stayed one night..but the outside bar looked fun and was busy..there are also lots of nooks and crannies.. cosy bars etc..but we had to wend our way on but thank The Bear for making up what had been a horrendous day....till we arrived at the hotel ! Thankyou team Bear .00p
