Staybridge Suites Charlottesville Airport

The breakfast and the team taking care of the guests were absolutely fantastic. It was a busy morning! We had a rocky start at check-in because they gave one of our rooms away after we had a reservation for three months. But they quickly resolved the situation. We are very grateful for this.

The forecast was for snow and we had a 6:35 a.m. flight to catch. So we stayed at the Staybridge, which is a short ride to the airport. The evening front desk was helpful and cheerful. We slept well, room was fine. It did indeed snow overnight. We were loading our car in the dark when the Staybridge front desk guy came out, found us in the parking lot, and said he was there to scrape our windshield - how wonderful! Who does that! Talk about going above and beyond!

I don’t typically stay at this brand, however, it was convenient to the airport. Pro’s: 1. Five minutes from the airport. 2. Ample parking and well lit parking lot. 3. Convenient to a few eateries, grocery store & pharmacy. 4. Looks very new and clean, inside & out. 5. Great friendly front desk staff, and fast checkin. 6. Rooms are essentially a small one bedroom apartment, microwave, full size refrigerator, etc. 7. Quiet overnight sleep…Awesome! CONS: I got in late, and just wanted a few snacks but the snack bar was depleted. Other than that nit-picky observation. Great overnight stay.

When we booked, we asked about airport shuttle and were told it was available. After checking in on the early evening, we were told that the shuttle started at 6 am. We had to be at the airport at 5am. The desk attendant could not help and suggested calling a Lyft. She said that the morning desk person might be able to drive us, but couldn't guarantee it. We reserved a Yellow Cab for the next morning, and was told the rate was $8. The next am, the cab was there and charged $30 to go 1 mile. Through with both Staybridge and Yellow Cab.

This place sucks. I recommended friends from Los Vegas stay there. They've aids it was horrible, front desk staff was absent or useless. I was very embarrassed. Food bar wasn't good. Never again.

We stayed here before and had a wonderful experience. This time? Not so much. This is apparently an extended stay hotel. We booked 3 nights and saw on a little sign in the bathroom that we'd receive "light housekeeping," consisting of replacing the used towels, emptying the trash and making the beds. Since the bathroom was out of tissues and nearly out of toilet paper, we assumed they'd take care of that too. Nope, no service at all the first night. We called the front desk. They said that "somehow you were marked for a 7+ night stay. We'll take care of it." The next day? Same thing. We finally saw some housekeeping staff in the hallway and requested towels and for the beds to be made. We never did get the tissues. Husband had to go to the front desk to get more toilet paper. The hotel is average but showing it's age; it was new a couple of years ago but a lack of serious cleaning showed mildewed grout in the shower and baseboards that were coming apart from the floor tile. It was clean enough, although in the sink up near the drain holes there were some hairs. Honestly the room looked like someone had done a pretty slapdash job of getting it ready for new guests. It was quiet on the 3rd floor. We didn't use the exercise facility or the pool since we were visiting family. When I asked at the front desk about the lack of housekeeping, I was told that they were an extended stay hotel and the service we got was to be expected. Since I'm an IHG member, they gave us 1000 points to compensate for the inconvenience. I would have preferred they just did their jobs and honored what their little sign said, instead of making excuses about being short staffed and not used to people who stayed for less than 7 nights. We will definitely be staying elsewhere on our next visit to Charlottesville.

This was the first time we stayed here and despite the round about way to get to the hotel we were very pleased with the location and the restaurants and store close by. The gentleman who checked us in was the best front desk person we’ve dealt with in a long long time. He made the stay much better and helped overlook some of the shortcomings we experienced. The kitchen area was not stocked very well with dishes, the main pan was without a handle and the other pan had food burnt on it so thick we’d never use it for cooking. We did receive cleaned or different pans after showing them to the gentleman at the front desk. We didn’t find our can opener and asked if one was available and we’re basically blown off by the lady at the front desk but luckily we found one to use. We also had to go get toilet tissue as housekeeping left us with about an 1/8 of a roll. The room was very quiet but the bed was super soft which is not good for a bad back. Other than that the night was good.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is new, very clean , and has many amenities. It is also convenient to great restaurants and other activities in the area. The best part of all was the level of service. Chane, who worked the front desk was very pleasant and made us feel welcome. He went over and beyond to make sure our group was satisfied with the accommodations. He also offered some excellent recommendations for dinner. Thank you Chane for making our stay an enjoyable one!
