The Royal Inn

I had business in Johnsonburg on Tuesday & decided to go a day early to view the eclipse over the border in NY. Looked at hotels in Bradford & their prices jumped to $360 for the eclipse. Royal Inn was suggested by a friend and I booked at the normal rate. For an older motel, it is clean, quiet and convenient. Despite the bad bed reviews, my bed was fine, firm and comfy. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed Monday nights so I did not get a chance to try it out. I highly recommend the Royal Inn for a reasonably priced room at a place that does not gouge the customers for a nearby celestial event. The Inn is what it is, not modern and new, rather it is quaint and retro. It was nice to support a local business rather than a chain too. I passed up the continental breakfast in the lobby for a great breakfast in Ridgway just down the mountain. If you are in the Ridgway area for the night, stay at the Royal Inn!

The hotel is in need of some updates.

Very nice staff . Rooms are basic and clean. Great restaurant and bar area. Only complaint would be that they need to get better mattresses.

Really we had to be in that area for a family funeral so we were only at the motel to get cleaned up and sleep. We were at the restaurant twice. Very friendly staff. Excellent food but if you order spaghetti be prepared. I kid you not there was enough for five people. The other orders were large also. All in all, a very nice motel.

We’ve stayed here several times. The hotel room is a bit dated but clean and comfortable. The restaurant is amazing. The only issue I had was whoever cleaned the room kept messing with my toothbrush. I always put it on a clean washcloth and found it somewhere else twice. Not sure why and it’s not a huge deal but I don’t like anyone touching my toothbrush. Other than that it was a wonderful stay and we will be back.

Staying at the Royal Inn is by far the worst hotel/motel experience I have ever had. The staff here are unbearable rude, that is putting it nicely. I checked in with anelderly man (who I later found out is one the owners). I told him that I knew I’d need to stay a few nights but didn’t know exactly how long because i was there due to a family emergency. He told me that wasn’t a problem the room was not reserved until a week later I stayed for 3 nights. The next morning i was told I had to move rooms because someone had reserved my room. I repacked everything to be moved to the room beside me which was exactly the same as the other room. It smelled strongly of cigarettes, smoking was a $200 charge. I told an employee so I would not be blamed for the smell, as I show him we realized the room had not been cleaned. He gave me new sheets and towels leaving me to change the sheets and clean up the room. I unpacked again, hung the do not disturb sign then left. As I was gone someone was in my room, my things had been moved around. At the front desk I was told someone went into the room because they smelt cigarettes I told them I informed their staff it had smelled like that beforehand also how the room wasn’t cleaned. After 45 minutes of being accused of smoking and told i would be charged $200, they finally called the maintenance man I had talked too. I did not receive an apology or an explanation to why they went through all my things. I checked out the next morning.

This is an older country establishment! Everything was clean and they cleaned the room every day!

Room was clean and warm. Beds could use better mattress. Good restaurant. Over all a very nice stay.

It had a nice rustic appeal. The room furniture was old and uncomfortable. The WIFI was unavailable. The staff was friendly.The restaurant food was good.
