The front desk was rude with me when I came to check in early and tried charging me an additional $108 plus $25 when I had already booked the room… I don’t recommend anyone come to this hotel or book with them. The toilet was leaking when we first got in the room and the puddle kept getting bigger after wiping. In return of them purposely not helping my situation I left it untold so they can handle it for the next customers… I’ve never had any problems with any red roof inn EVER …

Do not stay at this hotel. I booked a stay with them last minute as I wanted to see my relative who was on end of life care. Booked the room through *********** and within a couple of hours my relative had passed away. Tried to cancel the room and asked for them to waive the fees. I was passed back to *********** without any sort of acknowledgement of my circumstances. They did not respond to *********** when they requested this on my behalf. Took the money and refused to engage with me apart from a few cold responses telling me again to contact ***********. Eventually *********** told me that Red Roof had refused my request. In the meantime I had raised a formal complaint with red roof who have not acknowledged this at all and given me no time scale for a response to my complaint. This hotel and company do not care about customers so avoid booking with them at all cost. They only want your money and will not talk to you.

Our room was super comfy, we didn't want anything too fancy but just a "homey" sort of feel. Well the lady we spoke to on the phone was SUPER nice and that gave us a great feeling as the Sonesta we called seemed annoyed we asked about a room! She said "it makes me happy to see you have a good stay" and that went a long way with us as tired as we were. This is an affordable, family travel sort of hotel so a nice night here is a good bet. We will be back next time we pass through! Great team and a great location. Only issue we had was our bike was blocked in by a truck and we couldn't leave when we wanted, but that isn't an employees fault

The pictures must be old because I thought this would be a decent place, then I saw it in person! When I checked in, you walked in the side secured window and could immediately tell this place was run down, but I was tired and I still wanted to give it a chance. When I opened the door to the room, I was blasted with the smell of ****. The room looked old and even more run down (nothing like the photos). The microwave was old and beat up and missing the part that makes it spin. The refrigerator was so degusting looking we were afraid to put anything in it. The bathroom looked like something out of a prison cell, the sink had a huge crack in it like someone's head had been smashed into it, the toilet would barely flush. The bed had some stains on the sheets and the towels looked used and all wrinkled up. This whole experience was just all around disturbing! Don't believe the pictures, like I did, they are very deceiving!

Do not stay here period. Rude clerks check in/out. ************, partiers all night, smoky rooms, loose dogs in parking lot unleashed. Beds uncomfortable/ disgusting. Stole trailer hitch from our truck.

The hotel itself is your typical Red Roof, though I had an issue with my cable not working the first (of 2 nights) in my one room--so no television that night. Apparently, it worked in other rooms so it was just that room. I had moved to a different room the next day...so all was fine there. Check in was quite slow. There was always a lineup of folks in the vending area (as we were not allowed to come in the lobby. This made that area packed and hot and not the best experience. I've had faster check-ins at other Red Roofs 99% of the time. I know clerk REMMY had a lot on her hands with checkins, but if they only opened the lobby, she wouldn't have to keep going back and forth from the NIGHT checkin window to the front and then back again. It slows things down. REMMY was friendlier on day 2 for me. So that's why I'm giving her the "props" she deserves. I was able to get a small discount for the cable not working the day before. My first room was #121....that was the one who's cable wasn't working back in July. Hopefully it's fixed now. So if you're assigned 121...check immediately to make sure your TV works. Second room was #131 and that was better for me. Even though others say that they didn't like the kinds of people who stayed here (in other reviews), you have to realize this is a budget hotel and there's going to be riff raff at all types of budget motels. If they don't like that type of atmosphere, they need to switch locations and find a more costly option in order for them to feel safer. Sure some of the guests looked questionable, but unless you actually see things happening in the parking lot or in the rooms---we shouldn't judge books by their covers. :-) Anyway, as I said, REMMY may have had a lot of problems she was dealing with the first day I checked in---and thus wasn't overly friendly OR smiley upon checkin, but the 2nd day, she was better and thus, I'm throwing out a GREAT JOB to her for my 2nd day there! I would recommend to the owner to open up the lobby (at least during the day and up to maybe 10pm at night.) Standing in a cramped vending area/night checkin window...sucks.

We were driving from SC to PA after a week's vacation, and my husband wanted to split the trip into two days. We agreed on Richmond and he booked this hotel because of it's location and price. This is the first time I have ever left a hotel, after having already paid for it. It was that skanky. To start, when we pulled in there was a lot of "activity" in the parking lot. Lots of cars coming and going. Which seemed strange but...We had to park a few slots away from our room because there was a group of folks hanging out in the parking spot in front of our room. Tailgating would be the best way to describe it. A little strange but whatever. In general there were a lot of people (mostly men) just kind of hanging around. I don't know, maybe they live there. Which I guess is legal, but it didn't feel right. We entered the room. I'm not sure where to begin. There was a stale smoky smell which I might even excuse. Just because a hotel says it's smoke free does not guarantee that the guests will comply. But it was gross. Then there were the flies. I counted 2 but my kids say there were more behind the blackout curtains. The foamy substance behind both beds really disgusted me. To be clear I *do* believe it was some sort of cleaning product. But it still seemed gross that it hadn't been wiped up. There was a dog barking in the room next to us. Upon further research I believe this is a "pet friendly" hotel so I don't know if we can complain about that. The room felt a bit warm so we decided to turn on the AC. I have never smelled a staler AC than in this room. We turned it back off. We decided to take a wait and see approach, and loaded our bags into our car, in case we didn't want to return after dinner. As we were loading the car, we saw a woman in the room a couple down from us, welcoming a gentleman caller. At that point we said that's it, and my husband dropped the room keys off at the desk. So to sum up: stale smelling rooms with *lots* of people hanging around and it may or may not have been a bordello.

I have stayed at the Richmond South property (4350 Commerce Rd, Richmond, VA 23234-2240) numerous times while attending AKC dog shows at the Richmond Raceway Complex. It is nothing fancy, but I used to like it because it (like all other RRIs) has no carpet, does not charge for pets, and is an inexpensive place to stay. It seems that while I was not attending these shows during covid, the typical clientele (contractors, interstate workers, etc.) has been replace by *********** (male and female), insane people shuffling about and accosting customers, drug dealers, and *****. The No Smoking policy is blatantly ignored, even in the presence of staff, and people next door to me openly smoked pot in their room. Early Saturday morning EMTs showed up to drag an "unresponsive male" from that room. This property is a dump, and worse than that, it is dangerous. I am a RediRewards Member with 9,607 points, but I am seriously considering scrapping them and joining a hotel club that does not cater to *****. I will NEVER stay at the RRI Richmond South again. A few dollars saved is not worth getting mugged or having my car broken into or having *********** asking me for cigarettes.

Stay far away from this place. Upon check in i was charged more then what i reserved for. I even showed them the confirmation. Said i can go somewher else. Very rude unprofessional desk personel. We stayed because it was already 8pm. The room is in major need of renovation. The faucet litterly came off the sink, the ac didnt work properly, just overly poor maintenance. In the am i went to the office and asked if they had coffee the yeld at me to get out of the lobby and no, they dont have coffee. A bad experience and not worth the stay. Oh and i forgot to mention the roach that crawled on my wife while in bed. Never again. Good luck if you stay here.
