We have been Hilton HHonors members for years, and recently transitioned to Marriott at the recommendation of our son. This was our first stay at a Marriott property. We'll try them again, I guess, but perhaps at a different "flavor". The differences from Hilton were stark and obvious from the beginning. Hilton staff consistently welcome us with a smile ... and two bottles of chilled water. We were welcomed here by a person who seemed willing to tolerate our presence ... and one bottle of warm water. Hilton locations - at whatever level - have coffee and tea available in the lobby pretty much all the time (and fresh cookies in the evening). This place had a small, dribbling, water jug with old pieces of fruit bouncing around with in. Hilton rooms are spacious and welcoming, with folders of information about the hotel. This room was small, cramped, and devoid of any hotel information. Hilton properties offer a free breakfast - the quality of which does vary by specific hotel brand - but offers at least something. This place gives one the opportunity to purchase $9.00 bowls of oatmeal, $13.00 premade, microwaved sandwiches, and Starbucks-priced cups of plain coffee. Your Mileage May Vary, as they say, but OUR experience at THIS location leads us to look longingly back at the way things used to be ... back at Conrad's House.
