Disappointed. Although only a 3 star, the new management really needs to start working on their skill at running an inn. Hard to believe that the restaurant and inn are run by the same family. Lobby should have some brochures advertising what goes on in the area. Our first room (118) probably hasn't been updated since the 1970s. Dual aspect as the room juts out to the street, the window on one side had two curtains that closed, the other side had only one curtain which couldn't cover the entire window. Room hadn't been cleaned in some time, and when I took the syringes I found in the desk down to front desk, he didn't seem surprised. Luckily the air conditioning didn't work, so they moved us to room 115. This room had recent updates, and looked more like the photo in the brochure. Room was serviced daily to the point of putting in clean towels, cleaning the garbage pails, and leaving fresh coffee. Don't know if the floor was vacuumed, the beds were never made. Add for them says breakfast available daily (most places nowadays includes breakfast). The restaurant only serves breakfast Saturday and Sunday.

Rundown and dirty . The room and especially bathroom was unclean . This establishment is not being maintained or taken care of . Verandas and outside stairs are in need of repair . Carpets in Main areas are soiled and worn . The whole place is rundown and dirty .

The accommodation was NOTHING like advertised. The room was dirty and very run down; missing basic supplies. Have heard the restaurant is good, but we didn’t try it given the shape of the room. Ordered pizza in; turned out the restaurant was also owned by the same group. Pizza was decent; that’s why I rated 2 star.

The staff was very friendly, and the location was ideal for exploring Liverpool. However... this hotel is in desperate need of serious cleaning, repairs and upgrades. Our room was in disrepair with peeling wallpaper, clear water damage and stains on every piece of furniture. The sheets were stained, and there was no cover on the duvet. We couldn't keep windows open to help with the musty smell as there were no screens installed. This hotel has so much potential, but as is, I cannot reccomend. The food in the restaurant however, very good:)

The location is perfect within Liverpool. The ground floor rooms are easily accessible if you have difficulty climbing stairs. No problems with WiFi but the tv did not connect to the router. Front desk staff came to our room to try and reconnect the tv box but were unsuccessful. There was no followup from staff. The room was clean. The doors are made of solid wood and are a bit difficult to open and close, probably due to age and the wood swelling from humidity/rain (entrance to our room is not from within the Inn). Water was instantly hot in the shower. Restaurant and bar on site. During our stay we discovered, that for the most part there is no one at the front desk, if you have any difficulties, find staff at the bar and they can find someone to help you. There is an emergency number you can call after hours. Other than that, skip phoning the front desk and head straight to the bar for assistance. There are many business that are understaffed and Lane's is no exception, all you can do is be patient. In the summer there may be more staff available in the office.

I am cautious to write this review due to the defensive reactions from the manager to previous criticizing reviewers. We are 3 senior couples from 3 different parts of the country on a tour of Nova Scotia. We attended lanes privateer restaurant for dinner. We came to the opinion that something was strange with our waitress as she repeatedly repeated herself and spoke non sense. At first we politely interacted with her then we became quiet and politely smiled. A striploin steak, medium rare steak was ordered (pictured) and came out small, dry, very dry, tasteless. It appeared and tasted to be cut from a round steak. Due to the mannerism of the waitress it was probably not a good idea to complain at the time. At the end of the meal she stood beside the one who order and ate the steak and said "did you feed it to the dog? I bet you wanted to". We had no idea was was meant by that but again no confrontation was given, only a smile and nod was given. A very strange experience not wanted to be repeated.

My husband and I spent the night of 8-4-22 at this motel. We were impressed at how clean and comfortable it was. There was a comfortable bed and nice pillows. A hearty breakfast was provided for motel guests even though their restaurant was closed to the public for breakfast.

The hotel was very nice. Clean and spacious room. The restaurant was not open and the front desk was closed due to Canada Day I suppose. It was centrally located in Liverpool next to the river. The price was very reasonable. I would stay here again and recommend it.

Well located but it didn’t seem/feel clean. Carpets in hallway dirty, crumbs on room floor, not clean/fresh sheets (wrinkles and looked slept in, found long hair in bed), dirty toilet bowl (I’ll spare you the details), drip stains in tub… Uncomfortable in all, could not sleep 😕
