Although the location is conveniently located next to my office and they provide restaurant, bar, golf and spa services, the room maintenance is poorly lacking. In the bathroom, tiles regrouting are required, silicone joint replaced and radiator replaced. In the room, the window closure is not tight leaking warmth, the carpet is stained. Overall cleanliness is needed for the room price. Step up your game Abbey Hotel

The Abbey is a very lovely hotel, set in beautiful surroundings. It’s clean and inviting. The bedrooms are spacious and I have to say the bed is the most comfortable that I’ve slept in at a hotel and believe me I’ve stayed at numerous hotels across the world. The staff are welcoming, polite and professional. They’re very accommodating. I would definitely stay there again.

The room was clean and the staff were nice. I haven't tried the breakfast that was included in my booking as we missed it. They were only serving from 7am to 10am which I wasn't aware. We thought it will be until 11am just in time for the check out time. But overall it's still a good stay.

The hotel was disappointing from first to last. Check-in was slow and perfunctory. The room was okay with a large king-size bed (hence two stars rather than one), but it was let down by a grotty bathroom, where the basin’s hot tap constantly dripped very hot water. The worst part was the breakfast. We paid £63 extra for four breakfasts over two days. The orange juice was sour, the hot food was grossly overcooked (even burnt), dried up and inedible, the staff were inattentive and careless. The bar staff of an evening were no better than- three lads behind the bar seemed to want to hide from customers. There was a sporting do going on in the bar on Saturday evening which was extremely rowdy, and the foul language and behaviour was totally unacceptable. In all, an hotel to avoid.

We have returned home from our 2 night break with you and felt the need to inform you of the many disappointing issues we experienced during our stay. On your website you promote yourself as Luxury however the standards we experienced fell way short of this. Having checked in and gone to our room 217, we were greeted with a twin room and not the double that had been booked. We weren't offered an alternative but for someone to come to our room to convert to a double. It was impractical as we wanted to go to the spa etc so we agreed the room could be done when we went to dinner. The conversation with the gentleman on reception was unnecessary as he repeatedly questioned us on the double bed we wanted and had booked. The shower lever to control the flow and temperature is a serious issue as its stiff and difficult to obtain the correct temperature. The number dial with the heat indicator also rotates which means we were guessing the correct position to get the desired temperature which was dangerous as my partner almost got scolded. Picture attached. At dinner on Friday, we were disappointed with the portion size of the mackerel starter which bizarrely on Saturday was far more generous and a much improved presentation. The dining room was chaotic and so noisy, so much so we couldn't hear the staff when they were bringing out food leading to more confusion. Saturday morning at breakfast was shambolic- you had many guests booked in and when we arrived at about 9am, there were queues for the hot drink station as there were no mugs. There were queues for hot food as there were no plates and queues for juices as there were no glasses!! The cereal station had run out of milk with no dairy free alternative ready. The soya milk when it came out was put in a tea cup not even a milk jug. A manager/ supervisor was putting sauce sachets into a pot- surely a pre- service task? To top this off, you ran out of eggs- how does a hotel run out of eggs when you have 80 plus golfers all having breakfasts? Whether it's supplier issue or poor kitchen management, someone should've managed this issue on Friday. Can I ask why, given your guests ratio is 95% adults you serve children's cereals - coco pops and rice crispies? Where are the cornflakes, weetabix etc. The fruit offering was dire, prunes, grapefruit and peaches- no yoghurt was available on Saturday. Having asked for our room to be serviced, it was disappointing to get back from golf on Saturday to find we weren't given additional toiletries. 3 small bottles to last 2 nights for 2 guests - not enough! Saturday night, one of our guests who has an allergy to onions was served food that had come into contact with onions. You were made aware of this allergy however still failed to manage this information. I understand our guest is expecting a follow up call regarding this. On both Saturday and Sunday after golf, we wanted crisps in the Terrace Bar but you had run out. When I asked the young lad on Sunday

Stay here for one night on a business trip. Hotel was average in terms of cleanliness, was woken at 7am by a member of staff emptying the bottles bank. Worst part of my stay was the restaurant experience. The restaurant was under staffed and the staff weren't engaged and seemed they didn't want to be there. I ordered the vegetarian curry option, as I'm vegetarian. When I started eating it I decovered it contained chicken. I was pretty angry. Got no apology from the waitress, she just removed it and appeared 5 minutes later with another plate saying that's the vegetarian, again no apology. Another colleague had ordered the chicken curry and my dish looked completely different. I could eat the new dish as I had no confidence that it didn't contain chicken. I was absolutely disgussed. I was on a table of 15 work colleagues feel emphasised and feel I didn't want to make a scene or a fuss. I eventually handed the dish back to another waitress and ordered a bowl of chips. At least she Apologies and said we won't charge you for your food. To be honest I wasn't going to pay, if it wasn't for that fact my company paid for my stay I would have been demanding a full refund for my stay. Thank god I was allergic or had a allergy otherwise the situation could have been worse. My recommendation is if you have a dietary preference don't eat here as they cannot be trusted and they don't really care. Terrible experience and service

My partner and I came for a spa day, we had use of all the facilities and had 2 treatments booked. The staff were lovely and very welcoming, the treatments were to a high standard and very relaxing. Facilities were ok, the pool areas was small and did get busy but was ok. Would come again.

We spent an evening in the Westminster suite and I have to say that Liam was an absolute superstar. Nothing was too much trouble! One of our group was particularly picky on food and wanted to swap his preorder but Liam made it his mission to ensure everyone had the best time changing his menu. Well done Liam - you’re electric!!
