An inn where you can enjoy natural hot springs in the unexplored Shiretoko region and seafood from the "Fish Castle Town of Rausu".

It's quite outdated with signs of wear and tear. The tatami room size is modest but clean. It's located 3 minutes of drive from Rausu port and therefore quite convenient. Both dinner and breakfast are Japanese style set meal and have a good variety of hot and cold dishes. Onsen was adequate. There isn't much choice of accommodation in the area. Next to this is Rausu Daiichi Hotel that we stayed 5 years ago, which I reckoned as slightly better than this one.

The room we were in was huge - 2 big beds and a lounge, a huge bath and wet room. Lots of toiletries provided in the bathroom too. The heating needed to be on to 26 or 27 degrees as there was a cold draft coming from under the door and also from the cold windows. This kept the room about 22 degrees we thought. The food was dreadful and made 100 times worse as I am vegetarian... Tasteless vegetables boiled to death with very little protein offered. Breakfast was even worse and one morning I was left to have cabbage and chips as that was all there was that was vegetarian... No bread of breakfast cereal anywhere in sight. Thankfully there is a supermarket close by. It seems quite common in rural Japan to not cater for vegetarians.... so beware...

This is a typical ’boom & bust’ hotel, like the thousands of similar hotels you see all over Japan. It’s enormous, with lobbies, restaurands an common areas the size of airport hangars, huge rooms with separate tatami areas and massive onsens. All of which is in various stage of decay. This particular hotel is set back from the harbour, up on the hillside, presumably for tsunami reasons, which means you have to drive everywhere, to the boat tours in the harbour and the really nice little seafood shacks on the waterfront. The hotel offers, like all Japanese hotels, a myriad of ’settu’ options, all very confusing: breakfast, dinner and onsen package. Ditto with unlimited sake. Lunch and onsen and a spa treatment; don’t take any of these. The food is terrible by Japanese standards, and the gigantic restaurant is more like a East German Communist Party Headquarters canteen circa 1953 than a restaurant. You know whst I mean. Our room was huge, but with peeing wallpaper, slightly smelly damp wall-to-wall carpeting and (my pet hate) one of those pre-fab plastic bathrooms which has all the solidity of a bouncy castle. Our friends stayed at the Kitanokobushi Shiretoko Hotel, and I wish we had too. This is actually built this millennium and is right on the water. I highly recommend you stay there instead. As for me, I am thoroughly fed up with these depressing, smelly 1980’s concrete monsters.

The first day was a huge hot spring hotel, so on the second day I wanted to buy and eat crabs, so I went here. There were a lot of low reviews (before renovation?), so I was worried until I arrived, but the facility was renovated and beautiful, and the view was great, overlooking the Utoro fishing port from the room and the open-air bath. 〇 The food at the hot spring hotel is not very delicious and I can't eat it all. Drinks are also super expensive. ⇒ I want to choose what I want to eat and drink to my heart's content. I think it's recommended for people. The shared kitchen was well equipped, and there was no inconvenience with cooking utensils and tableware. However, there are detailed instructions on how to separate garbage, etc. It seems that there are many people who do not use the kitchen.

This was the most amazing stay of our 2-week Hokkaido trip. The design of the hotel was very nice, it is hard for a large hotel to feel homely and comfortable, but it did - walking around the lobby and dining areas was such a pleasant feeling, there is also a TV section where everyone enjoyed the documentaries on Shiretoko comfortably. The staff at the hotel were incredible, they were all very friendly and helpful, and seemed genuinely happy with their jobs - from the man at the front of the hotel welcoming us into the hotel and directing the cars to the carpark, to the front desk, and the servers and chefs at the restaurant - everyone was so friendly and nice. The breakfast and dinner buffet was amazingly good - usually I do not enjoy buffets as much, as the food is usually just average, but here, the food variety was amazing, and quality was so good! I had the freshest sashimi, very good desserts, good grilled beef and pork, ramen was amazing, and the fried food counter was so good. The rooms and onsen were comfortable and luxurious as well. The price we paid for the hotel was very well worth it! Thank you very much - we really enjoyed ourselves! Every day when we got back to the hotel after a long day out, it felt like returning home.

This resort has an outdoor foot spa which is amazing in the winter! Loved the sunset view indoor onsen too. Food is fantastic and they make the most delectable croissants and other pastries. Must have. Beds and rooms and comfortable, clean and luxurious. The only complaint I have is that we accidentally went to a wrong floor of the hotel and it opened up to a nearly completely dark long walkway along an unused area of the hotel. This could be dangerous. Other than that, everything is good. The staff could be friendlier to non-Japanese speaking guests.
High reputation of the excellent specialty with local foods, and the hot spring flowing directly from the spring source.

The room had a space to open suitcases and was clean. The hot spring water was good, and the sea breeze felt in the open-air bath was also pleasant. In addition to the menus that are common in business-type hotels, there are also seafood dishes. It's true that it's not as luxurious as the introductory photo on the homepage, but I felt that it was the best possible hospitality. The front desk and dining staff seemed to be working with a minimum number of people, but they were polite and kind when I went to the front desk to ask questions, as well as check-in and check-out procedures. Shiretoko itself is expensive, so I think I was able to stay here at a relatively reasonable price. If you think of it as one of the sightseeing bases rather than enjoying it at the hotel, it is a very convenient location near the roadside station, sightseeing boat office, convenience store, coin laundry, Oronko Rock, Godzilla Rock, etc. Shiretoko is a great place for both hot springs and sightseeing.

An inn in Utoro, Shiretoko; I used the World Natural Heritage inn Shiretoko Village Tsukuda-so in July 2021. Shiretoko in 2021 was a year when it was very difficult to make reservations for inns. Many guest houses are closed due to the corona disaster, and relatively large inns and hotels are open, and even major hotels will be closed after the beginning of June. We also had to look for an inn in a hurry a month before the trip. Under such circumstances, Shiretoko Village Tsukuda-so is an inn that can be used for a relatively reasonable accommodation price, and the food is delicious (especially the boiled menme is delicious), and it has a hot spring. It is a relatively reasonable usage fee for Shiretoko with a cup of hair crab for dinner and 37400 yen / two people for two meals per night. The hot spring ”Kuma no Yu” was a reddish muddy hot water, also called a beautiful hot water, and it was a pleasant hot water with a little tromi. If there is a difficulty, it was a little difficult to sleep at night in Utoro in 2021, where there were no air conditioners in the guest rooms and the daytime temperature exceeded 30 degrees Celsius. In addition, the surrounding nature is rich, and where does it come out at night, the insects of 々 intrude into the room and make a fuss. The room has insecticides and gum tapes for insect capture, but it may be quite difficult for women ...
An old inn fully renovated into a completely private cottage, with the ocean in front and verdant nature behind.
