Si Como No Resort & Wildlife Refuge

This hotel was the highlight of our accommodations during our 9-day trip in Costa Rica. The view alone was worth the price of the stay. I requested this hotel when I booked my trip through a travel agency so didn’t look at photos of the room beforehand. I based my request of the high ratings from TripAdvisor and was not disappointed. The king-sized bed was so comfortable, I slept 12 hours on my first night there, which is rare for me anywhere. This was a family trip, with kids aged 11 and 7, so I was a bit worried that their bed would be a pull-out from converted sofa. It wasn’t. It was the same high-quality comfortable bed but in a queen size, and the kids slept well. The whole hotel was well-designed and integrated into the surroundings, so in addition to the view, we saw lizards and monkeys roam the premises. Such a treat! The kids pool has a waterslide that the kids went on over and over again and had a blast. We only had 2 nights here because of scheduling, but I honestly think we could have stayed 3 more and still enjoyed ourselves. This is a special place that I will be recommending to any one who is visiting Costa Rica!
Hotel Villas Lirio

What a beautiful and nostalgic hotel…our room had our own lap pool complete with cushioned lounge chairs…happy hour was a 2 for 1 deal and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and friendly…we swam and lounged out at the main pool…so relaxing! A free breakfast was included with our room (other breakfast items available at additional cost)..just enough to get our morning started before we headed out for the day! Pre COVID I’m sure the outside pool bar would be open which is always a plus when hanging out at the pool! Definitely on our list when we return to Costa Rica next year!
Parador Nature Resort and Spa

I’m a pretty average traveler - I’ve been to 8 countries, so more than a lot of people but also less than a lot of people, but this was by far my favorite place I’ve ever been. I’ve always said I won’t return to a place, so I can keep exploring, but I would come back here without a second thought. The resort was truly amazing. They take their conservation very seriously with their practices and protected wildlife areas. The resort was ALWAYS clean despite being in the middle of the jungle and just generally beautiful. The staff was super kind, everyone seemed very genuine and happy to be there. Shout out to Yerald & Mar at the pool bar for the constant attentiveness and smiles (and drinks of course). Also shout out to Elias - the onsite naturalist that leads the night hikes. He was so knowledgeable, showed us so many cool animals, and has worked with National Geographic! He knows his stuff. Between excursions and the resort, we saw new wildlife everyday. There were capuchins on our balcony, you could hear the howler monkeys daily, iguanas, opossums, raccoons, geckos, macaws, sloths, grasshoppers the size of your face, and we watched humpback whales from our balcony every single morning. Since going in the off season, not all of the restaurants were open but what I ate was phenomenal. Breakfast buffet daily with rice and beans to die for and dinners at La Galería were 100%. I highly recommend going here and doing everything you can.
Shana by the Beach Manuel Antonio

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shana and found the room, facilities and staff excellent. The breakfast, the bar and the dinners were equally excellent and the beach was also an added bonus. We plan on returning to Shana on our next visit it Costa Rica.
Igloo Beach Lodge

I would recommend this hotel to anybody!! It is so unique and at an amazing location. It is only a short walk to get to Playa Espadilla (one of my favorite beaches in MA). My boyfriend and I stayed here for just 2 nights for his birthday and we had a great experience. Upon arrival, we had balloons in our room, a welcome sign with our names on it, and a free drink from the bar. It felt very personalized and welcoming. The restaurant in the lobby is fantastic and we often hung out in the pool area where they have lots of places to lounge and music playing. The staff knew that it was my boyfriend's birthday and they surprised us with a picnic on the beach at sunset. It was honestly way more than I would've expected. Lots of food, a cocktail, and dessert. I was speechless. The igloos are very cool and fun. Honestly, it was the best sleep we got in those 2 weeks of traveling. AC and nice bed.

Beautiful location and for the most part the service was great. First the pluses ....beach is super and the staff down by the beach was friendly and welcoming and they do a great job of creating safety (lots of lifeguard drills it appeared!) and overall the sense of a lovely vacation feel. There are golf carts to take you everywhere on the property, which is pretty necessary as the property is steep and quite spread out. You just give a call and someone shows up in minutes. Many of the drivers have a great personality, just made it surprising when a few of them seemed not friendly--and for us there was no need to speak English--I was always happy to try my Spanish! Ditto for the staff in the main restaurant--some were friendly and welcoming and a few others were all business and not very welcoming or patient. On with the plus items...the beds are very comfortable, rooms are private and quiet, and the policy of free mini bar snacks (with free restocking) is wonderful! The monkeys and iguanas --and sloths--on the property are terrific. There is a dinner in the beach restaurant on Wednesdays, Sats and Suns and since we were only there for the Wed dinner, I wish that the staff at breakfast had reminded us of it and also, there could be a small guide in the room that would include the beach dinner evening schedule as well as a map of the nature trail --with distances. We wanted to walk it ourselves, without their guide, but didn't have a good sense of the overall length of the trail. There was a little sense that they wanted to encourage us to sign up for their guided (for a fee) walk. The food in the main restaurant was good, but not exceptional and the dinners are quite expensive. The breakfast has many choices and again, it's good but not exceptional--but nice that it's included in the room price. Overall, however, it's a lovely place, clearly the nicest place to stay in Manuel Antonio, but also quite pricey, which you know if you're reading this! Trip.com had the best price by far, at least for November.
