Overall we spent a great week at the Carols Beau Rivage. Pros: - amazing, stunning beach, couldn't get enough of it - food was great. At first it might seem like the restaurant is not the biggest but you get all the standard choices, for breakfast we loved the freshly made eggs, falafel and pancakes. For dinner you always have a choice of chicken, beef and fish + always an extra choice like lamb, tuna etc + lots of delicious veggie options -staff was pleasant and helpful - location is great if you want to go to Cairo, Alexandria, Siwa Oasis - much closer than Hurghada, Sharm, Marsa alam - room was very spacious and had a partial sea view -area of the hotel very green and well kept Things to note if you're going there: - bottled water- you only get 2 big bottles of water per day, in the beach/pool bar you can only use a dispenser. I would feel a bit better with being able to ask for small water bottles at the bars. - constant need for tips- i understand this is somewhat normal in Egypt having been there 9 times already but i feel like you can feel it more in this hotel. Having drinks brought to you at the pool/ beach in glasses is only reserved for people constantly tipping. Otherwise you will have to go get the drink in a paper cup at the bar. - animations - not sure if this was connected to the fact that the hotel was about to close in 2 weeks however evening animations were pretty much non existent. The animators Tiger and Mo tried their best to engage people during the day with sports and activities, and did a lot of dancing at nights. They really tried their best and were really friendly, however i feel like evening animation program was an absolute mess. Kids disco was supposed to start at 8 according to the animation schedule, followed by evening program at 9. In reality, mini disco always started at 9 and then there was an older gentleman singing the same songs every single day- sang so badly, half of the people waiting for the actual show left by the time he finished. We waited for a fakir and fire show and then were told it's not going to happen because there is not enough guests waiting, when half of the people left because they didn't want to listen to the singing! Out of 7 nights we stayed at the hotel, there were only 2 days with actual night shows. I feel like it would have been better if it was clearly communicated that there is no evening animation on certain days, instead of making people sit through the really bad singing, ultimately waiting for nothing. -for people with children/expecting to find fast food items in the main restaurant - fries and pizza is available only next to the pool bar during lunch time. There are also salads and fruit. I would appreciate a sweet option, a croissant or pastry to be available.
