The Venus Hotel, in my opinion, is a three star hotel in a five star body, and what I mean by that is that the architectural finish of the building does resemble your average five accommodation, especially in the Balkan regions, but the insides of the building, including its lobby and rooms are definitely of a three star standard. We stayed at this hotel twice in one week, and had the opportunity to experience floors 2, 3 and 4. Our first stay was from August 20 - 22 in room 404, and I wished someone would have told us that there was going to be a musical shindig above our room until 1:30am. The receptionist were pleasant and spoke English at a good level to communicate, they were very accommodating and assisted us with local info and ways to get around the city of Pristina. Note: the hotel is a ten minutes taxi ride into the city to the Newborn monument etc., cost in a taxi was ten Euros. Our first room was a Superior triple, basic, in our opinion, with the only outstanding thing being that the television was embedded into the mirror. Cleanliness of the room was 5/10, it was dusty. Beds were comfy. Showers were good. Air conditioning worked. The pool and fitness areas are small, although our luck led us to have it to ourselves, so there were no issues. Breakfast is your basic buffet style continental, same options every day. We had dinner at the restaurant, where we ordered the calamari and also the chicken. The calamari was over salted and the chicken was dry and stringy; however the waiter was very pleasant and professional. Another time we ordered room service, the club sandwich which was served with french fries gets a 10/10. This facts says that the Venus Hotel lacks a professional chef and can only currently accommodate for basic meals. Our second stay was from August 25 to midnight on August 26, when we had to leave for the airport. Our situation led us to book from August 25 - 27, and because we had recently stayed there, a 20% discount was mentioned to us, but at the time of checking out, that discount evaporated into the thin air and we paid the full price for two nights. We were first given room 209, a double room, which appeared fine when we checked in the evening, but after we slept and woke up, we realised that the room was a disaster, stained carpets, broken glass which was a part of the bathroom suite and again a dirty room, which could use a clean. Still, we were quickly given another room after our displeasure was heard, this time it was room 305, another double room, which was not very clean either. We had a little trouble with the AC, it worked intermittently, but considering that we were only staying until midnight, we didn’t bother to say anything about it. Like we said, the staff there were good, our favourite person has to be the young lady who monitors the breakfast buffet, she was friendly, engaging and professional at the same time.
