My husband and I stayed at the Isaiah Tubbs resort October 4th weekend. Our room was located in the "Inn". The first thing I noticed was an iron burn on the carpet, paint scrapes on the trim with paint flakes on the carpet. The room is in desperate need of some TLC and some new furnishings. We had dinner at the restaurant on site on Friday evening, the menu had a choice of 3 entrees, my gnocchi was swimming in pesto and overpriced. The tables in the pub area are in terrible shape and need to be replaced .

For the price, the very old outdated room with zero luxury was not worth it. I've stayed in much nicer rooms for half of the price paid here. No meals included either but looking at the reviews other people left about meals, I'm ok with not eating here. Go find better for less people.

Second stay here and not much has changed in twenty years. We were in a suite in Lodge 2. Staff were kind enough to offer a room change when we saw the first option which was smaller, had an ancient/soft mattress AND an A/C unit about 6 inches from the bed. Our ultimate room was clean, had a new mattress, and plenty of space. But the carpets and living room furniture are beyond their shelf life. I hope Choice Hotels injects some $ to upgrade to a better standard. Outdoor pool has been refurbished and is very nice but cold (unheated?) and small. **NOTE: the onsite restaurant is NOT OPEN for brekfast during weekdays.

Booked via choice for 201$ per night for 4 nights. Checked in at 4PM and our room was ready. The copound is a mix of cabins, motels, and villas (one of which where we stayed). We were 3 in a 2 level unit, one bedroom on first level with kitchenette, fireplace and sofa bed and there was a second level loft with a double bed. The decor was old and tired, the sofa bed unconfartable ( they did provide an extra cot to compensate which did the job). The room was a tad dirty when we arrived. I need to comment on room service (or lack thereof) given the 2nd day, we only got refresh of towels (and 2 sets instead of 3), and no service on 2 other days...i did confirm they do daily service but was told the maids will not service a room if there is someone in there (even if you verbally tell them to come???) I did not see the pool. but we were satisfied with the beach and bay which my sister and her friend spent most of their morning. There is a restaurant on premise which we did not use but it seemed not very busy at lunch or dinner. Location is great , within 5 min drive (or 10 min bike ride ) to entrance of the Sandbank Provincial park, as well as across the road from a microbrewery. Only reason i gave this place 3 stars.... Passable (if you get service)....

We stayed one night for a wedding at another spot. Pros: Check-in was efficient, office staff were welcoming. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the curtains darkened the room well. The room was clean but certainly needed some touch ups. Cons: The outside wood around the windows was rotting and the whole front needed painting. The room had a very "musty" smell, the AC was very loud and was set at 22 for the night..it shut on and off about every hour..sounding like a 747 jet. The Keurig coffee maker had an old used pod in it, no creamer for the coffee. The shower was the size of a small closet and the curtain was about a foot too long so you stepped on it while trying to shower, with no water pressure and water switching to cold intermittently. The cost of our room ($400+) certainly was absolutely ludicrous and we were very disappointed. We went to the on-site restaurant for a bite to eat. The options were terrible and we ended up having 2 small (1 cup) of soup, very tasty, but very expensive at $9 each, no crackers or bread to go with it. The Server was very nice and efficient.

Site très bien. Panorama/ vue excellents. Eau non potable, ou à risque ... Cependant, les chalets ont besoin d'une cure de rajeunissement. Ex: stores de fenêtres endommagées, literie/matelas douteux, petits trous dans les murs extérieurs.

This was undoubtedly one of the worst dinners I have had. We went with another couple and they were also very disappointed .. Tiny glasses of tepid water with NO ice, tiny thin paper napkins, filthy dirty cheap plastic salt and pepper, my gnocchi was barely warm, and very small serving ...my husband's fish and chips were so bad...tiny order overcooked fries, small piece fish dried out, the beer we wanted they were out of ON SECOND DAY OPEN....the prices were ridiculous and server was bragging they had top chef from Toronto....maybe he needs to go back to chef school.....one 6oz glass wine 16.00. Also if they want to brag fine dining then they need to do better than plastic tables and chairs... We will NEVER go back and I am putting it all over Facebook. What a disgrace

Our trip to Isaiah Tubbs started on a bit of a sour note. Thanks to a review from May on this website, we learned that we wouldn’t have safe drinking water at the resort. It turns out that one of the wells used on property has high nitrate levels, which is dangerous for pregnant women and young kids and our multi-family group was travelling with young kids (plus I wasn’t keen to be drinking high levels of nitrates over multiple days). Had the resort been upfront about this when we booked, or during one of the multiple phone calls our group made, my attitude would have been a little different (it’s not unusual to have to bring water to a cottage, after all). Instead, we had to find out from a Trip Advisor review. The resort didn’t even tell us when we checked in, though there are government-issued notices in all the impacted rooms, above the sink, so it’s an issue we’re supposed to know about. Honestly, this whole aspect came off as a bit sneaky and I was worried about what other “surprises” awaited us. Our group was spread out across one of the beach houses, one of the lodges and in one of the cottages. This last selection was quite rustic and didn’t offer much in terms of privacy (it also didn’t have A/C) but the occupants were prepared for all that and said that they quite liked their standalone cottage, which came with a well-equipped kitchen and a fire pit. The lodge rooms were more updated and depending on the style, came with a private bedroom or a kitchen (and they all had A/C). From what we saw, these rooms looked pretty nice and the screened porch was a useful touch. We stayed in one of the beach houses. We liked that it was quiet and had two stories, with plenty of space. We were in beach house #2, which I think is more intended for a romantic getaway, as there is no private bedroom but there is a fireplace and a jacuzzi. But thanks to the inclusion of a pullout couch, it worked fine for a family of four. The jacuzzi actually turned out to be quite useful for warming up cold kids and washing off sandy feet. The room was a little banged and was a mix of newer and dated elements. But it was clean and overall, it worked. As the name suggests, this room was located right on the beach however, that end of the beach is a little rocky. The better section of the beach is located in front of beach house #1 and over by lodge #2. However, don’t expect the beautiful sand of Sandbanks Provincial Park at any point here. It’s just overall rougher (and that’s even after the resort grooms the beach). But, unlike Sandbanks, the beach here is quiet and comes equipped with beach chairs, which we had no problems securing. The water was also fairly calm, clean and kid-friendly. And if you do want to go to Sandbanks, it’s a quick drive down the road. Besides the undrinkable water, our biggest problem with this place was the restaurant. It was very unstaffed and getting served took far longer than we were anticipating. We ate one long meal there a

We visited at the end of October, so we did not expect that the resort would be fully booked. But to our surprise, we were the only guests there. Beautiful resort with 88 rooms. but only two of us. It made it very serene and quiet. We liked that since we had the 22-acre resort just for ourselves. The reason for that was not just the end of the season, but there were a few glitches. Water has higher nitrate and nitrite content than allowable, consequently not drinkable. There are signs everywhere to tell you that. The restaurant was also closed, which is understandable. not expecting they would cook just for us. Otherwise, I would give it 5 stars. The room we had was right on the water. It was a large room (1114) with a fireplace and a separate bedroom, The Coffee maker, fridge, and microwave worked well. It looked refurbished. The bathroom looked brand new. So we enjoyed the visit and went to the dunes, which were great and only 4 minute's drive from the resort, but not possible to walk to them from the resort even though you can see them. Beautiful place.
